"I just found out about his death (I stay too far out of the loop...). He was one of my mentors when I got to Cco in late 1992. His example helped me become the Medic I was, and I hope I did him justice as I passed on his lessons to my junior Medics throughout my career. He was Good People. RLTW."
Doc Spooner of Guntersville, AL

"I remember Marc when we served in C Co. 3/75. He was a smart, very capable medic and had a great sense of humor. I am sorry I'm only finding out about this now. I will not forget him. Rest in peace brother- RLTW!"

"As a mom of five young children, I am so grateful for the sacrifice of this brave solder Marcus V. Muralles. You are loved by many. Words can not express the emotion. He payed the ultimate price for our freedom and the freedom of so many other people who suffered under the rule of Sadaam. May God be with his family in this time of sorrow and may you find comfort in the fact that we think about Marcus's sacrifice for the love of his country. May we NEVER forget! Thank you!"

"To the parents of Marcus from an old friend in New Orleans. I probably met Marcus when he was a little kid for I was a good friend of his parents at the time. I was very shocked to find out about his death on the Internet. He had a striking resemblance to his father and, ironically, he was everything his father wanted to be himself which was a soldier in the US armed forces and also a doctor someday. I can somewhat relate to Marcus since I myself was a medic in the Army but I never saw combat. My dream too was to become a doctor someday but it was never realized. However, my son, also born in New Orleans and at the same hospital where Marcus was born is now a doctor and I vicariously live his success. I'm thankful that he's alive and I can only surmise the pain that his family is now enduring with his loss. From what I read he was a very happy and complete individual who enjoyed life and helping others. He died in what is a very noble cause. He died fighting terrorism for a better future for his family and countrymen. His parents should always be proud of him. May he rest in peace and no doubt he is where all of us hope to be one day, in Heaven."

"Thank you all for your kind and heartfelt messages. We will always miss Mark. He was our angel here on earth and is now our angel in Heaven. We have always been proud of him but even more so now that we here wonderful stories from his fellow comrades. He was very humble and proud to do what he did, there was no other way of life for him. He loved life with passion, he was a good husband to Diana, father to his adoring kids Anna and Dominic, son who called his mom and dad often if not daily from wherever he was, and the most perfect brother in the whole world. When he made freinds, he made friends for life. He had a kind and tender heart and a good sense of humor. I always bragged about my little brother and wanted everyone to meet him. I know he will see us soon, it'll just seem a little longer for us. Please keep Mark and the other soldiers in your prayers and their families also. Thank you for your beautiful words - Big sister"
