"5/11/23
A twenty-two year-old episode of 7th Heaven led me here. I was a child twenty-two years ago. In the passed time, I’ve forgotten the sacrifices of Staff Sergeant Morgan and others like him. I’d forgotten to be grateful. Today I’m so grateful to be reminded of that price that so many others paid.
I can’t ever equivalently thank the Morgan family, other personnel and families who gave up futures and families and happiness and lives because they wholly believed in the United States. But in respect of all those who did, I’ll try to live in a way that radiates gratitude for all that these people sacrificed. I’ll never again forget how blessed I am to have been born here."

Man, it's been some time, but I still remember those days in the airframes shop, dealing with the hassle of maintenance control, and the way we always seemed to accomplish the mission. "i just watched the episode of 7th heaven and it brought up so many emotions, thank you for your sacrifice for my freedom. the reality is the words of thank you are just not enough and does not truly express how we feel, I feel the sorrow for your families loss of there son, husband and father. but witout the honor of men like you we wouldn't have the freedom that we do have. I will never forget you as I looked as saw you died on January 19th, that happens to be my sons birthday so you can bet I will never forget you Sir, thank you. and my condolences to your family."

"I know many men & women don't get enough recognition for the sacrifices they make & their families also. I have a soft spot for people that support our country! My father was in the Vietnam war, my grandfather in WWII, a few friends just got back from Afghanistan within the recent months. I of course only know this name from 7th heaven but it doesn't change how I feel, or many other Americans. If the men & women have any doubt at all throughout the day that we don't think of you and thank you for all the things you do, just don't. Think of a single person that is grateful for your sacrifice & I'm sure you'll remember why you signed up to support our country."

"Dear Staff Sgt. Dwight J. Morgan,
I have been a fan of the show 7th Heaven for quite sometime now. I just got through watching the episode The Known Soldier & it really made me think. It also made me feel sad, though I am very grateful. I'm sad because you can't be here with your family and friends, though I know you're watching over them. Though i'm also sad because everyone sacrificing and serving our country who had died can't be with their family and friends either. Of course I know that they're watching over them too. I'm grateful because we all live in a country that gives us freedom. We are all free people and because of what you and everyone else does for us and this country, it makes us grateful, happy and blessed to know that you are the reason for that. We live in a world with a lot of hatred though. People discriminating, violence, drugs, alcohol, sexual abuse......just any and everything. Though we live in The United States Of America......it just makes me think a lot about how we live in a society with a lot of problems and issues. Not everyone is like that though, there are good people out there somewhere. I know that i'm probably just rambling on and I may not be getting to the point, but I just wanted to say Thanks. Thanks for everything you have done for your family, friends and us. Thanks to you and every man and woman who has served our country. Who was.....still is a Hero to us all. My grandpa was in World War 2. Maybe if you see him, you can tell him we all said hi and that we think of him. That we miss him. He didn't die in the war though. He actually got out later on and died when I was in the 9th grade. I really do miss him and.....well believe it or not I never got to thank him for serving our country. So to my grandpa, Thanks. Thank you for everything you have done and for being the brave soldier that you were. To all the families and friends out there who have someone fighting and sacrificing for our country, I will keep them in my prayers and hope they return safe and sound for always. And to all the families and friends who have lost someone, I send my condolences. I know they were good men and women fighting and sacrificing for you and all of us. Lucy was right, There's a high price for freedom and very little gratitude for the sacrifice. God Bless."
Rebecca R. of Texas
"I recently brought the 7th heaven seasons 1-6 and I just watched the episode dedicated to Staff Sergeant Dwight J Morgan, I am so very touched, as soon as I saw ruthies grandfather at the door I could not stop crying! It made me realize just how much the Marines and soldiers do for our country. I am not far of turning 18 and it's also not that long until Christmas and I have been so selfish my whole life complaining that i dont have the latest DS, or Iphone 4, So for This Christmas and all the rest that are to come, I don't want anything- I just want to say how thankful i am just glad that I have my family and my friends that I can share the holidays with.
Thank you to all the marines and soldiers that are in Afghanistan and anywhere else fighting for our countries!
Thank you Staff Sergeant Dwight J Morgan, and thank you to his family for sharing the very touching story!! Xx"

"yesterday you made me see how many of us take life for granted and never and how lucky we are here in Australia as we know the person when one of our troops are killed and are not just classed as another statistic or just a number as watching 7th heaven yeasterday actually struck a nerve in me and made me realise how many of us are still alive today thanks to the help of our ancestors and everyone like you Dwight so thank you Staff Sergeant Dwight J. Morgan"
Cora-Jane Leeder of Pooraka, South Australia
"Staff sgt Dwight J Morgan,
I can see already that you have had several posts now, because of the viewing of the seventh heaven episode which was dedicated to you. I really wanted to be able to thank you myself. I know you cannot read this now, but I know God will ensure that you are given the respect that you deserve. Your efforts are what ensure we can be here today, living the way we do, free and without fear.
I didn’t know you, and I’m sad to say, before this viewing today I had never heard your name before, but I am now so glad that I got to know even a little bit about you; you’re favourite foods, you’re family and even you’re dislikes. I’m sure your family misses you greatly and would be so proud of what you have done for them. Thank you Staff sgt Dwight J Morgan for everything you have done.
Lest we Forget"

I know your loss of Dwight was a while ago now, but Dwight's episode of 7th Heaven has just aired here in Australia (14Nov2011). "Thank you, Dwight J. Morgan. Here in Australia we still have the 'privilege' of being able to individually name and recognise each of our fallen soldiers as when they lose their lives. All of Australia grieves. The 7th Heaven episode I watched yesterday highlighted for me that not all soldiers around the world are individually recognised, rather as a collective or just a statistic, so I dedicated my day today to all of those who would usually just be numbers to everyone but their families. Once again, thank you Dwight J. Morgan."
Jessie of Adelaide, South Australia
"Dear the Morgan family,
I know that this probably a little inappropriate, since I never knew Dwight. Indeed, I was manning anti-war barricades at the time of your loved ones death. I would just like to say that I am sorry, and that I wish all the best for you and yours in years to come. :-("

"As well as Debra from Australia I also have been watching a re-run of 7th Heaven today 17.8.11.
As the mother of a son that went to Iraq I am aware of the real dangers of loved ones being so far away fighting for freedom, my heart was always in my throat when news came on TV of an incident, I praise God for my son coming home to us. My son was friends with a couple of our boys that we lost in Afghanistan recently, I cry everytime I here of another soldier being lost over there and my heart goes out to the families and friends of the soldiers. I pray for the strength and courage that is needed for our men & women over there to do the job they do and that they all come home safely.
A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL! WE LOVE YOU."

I am just now watching all the 7th Heaven reruns too. I was never really in to the show when it was on the air, and one day I watched and realized what I had been missing, so I had to start from the beginning and watch them all!
I just finished watching the episode honoring SSgt Dwight Morgan. When I heard them say he was from Willits, CA, I had to "Google" his name. "Greetings Mrs. Dwight J. Morgan,
I wish to honor you and your family tonight, 11 December 2008 because I'm grateful. I am a combat vet. I am a Soldier in the United States Army only because I wanted to serve in Iraq. Years later, I watched an episode of Seventh Heaven. I felt a connection to your loss because I saw it almost everyday when I was in Iraq myself. I have always been a fan of 7th Heaven. Tonight, 11 Dec 08, I saw the episode once again. On the first airing, I kept hearing your husband's title, first and last name over and over. My heart told me this was not a made up script. I took the time to find this site tonight. I now know what combat is like. I'd like to take this time to honor your and your family. CNP"

"I would like to thank Staff Sgt. Morgan and all the men and women of the armed forces who have paid the ultimate price and those who are now paying the price for our safety and freedoms. The episode of "Seventh Heaven" that was shown today hit me like a punch in the gut, especially when the list of those who paid the ultimate price was rolled at the end of the program. As of today 04/02/08 there are well over 4,000 service members who have paid the ultimate price for all of us. May God bless them all. And may our Lord bless the families of the men and women who have and are serving our country for the freedoms that we all enjoy, and sometimes take for granted.I pray that this war is put to an end soon. The short list of the fallen was difficult for me to watch as it rolled at the end of the show and I'm sure that it will be equally difficult for me to view the list on the Iraqi Freedom Memorial when the war is over. My condolences to all the families who've lost a loved one "over there"."

"Out of every episode of 7th Heaven I've seen (and I've seen most, more than once)this one has by far the greatest affect on me. Though it was through 7th Heaven that I first learnt about Dwight J Morgan, I share my sincere condolences with his family and friends. Due to my obsession with 7th Heaven, Staff Sgt Morgan has come to have an impact on my life just as he has Ruthie's . This episode of 7th Heaven has really helped me appreciate the soldiers over there and even what their families go through. I have obviously never met to him although now everytime I think of the soldiers fighting for freedom he is the first to come to mind. I'd like to send a special thanks to Staff Sgt Morgan himself for doing what he could to make our world peaceful. I am not an American however in the end we're all part of the global family."

"Today is April 9, 2007. Today, I became Thankful. Today, I became thankful of all the veterans out there. Today, I became grateful. I became grateful that there are people out there that have the guts and hearts to put their lives on the lines, to serve our country, and stand for our freedom. I would like to thank Staff sgt. Dwight J. Morgan, all the Veterans, and God. Thank You. May God Bless Theresa, Alex, Theresa's daughter, Staff sgt. Dwight J. Morgan, all the Veterans, and most importantly, America! I would like to say something just for Theresa. I am 11 years old. My moms name is Teresa & my brothers name is Alex. If your daughters name is Christina, well then that just means there is a reason why god put this episode of 7th Heaven that is about your husband in my path. My parents are going through a divorce. It seems like it would hurt less because your not losing a family member, they're still there and still alive. but for me it hurts more, because death is a natural thing in life, but a divorce isn't. What I'm saying is, there is still hope and that things happen for a reason. Look at it this way, Your situation just made you stronger in life. Now you can deal with your problems with hope. Because if you were able to go through your husbands death. Than your able to go through anything life throws at you. Just like I am to. In that way, I am in a way related. We are Survivors, We are Loved, and We are Strong!

"It's April 2007 and I just saw the rerun of the 7th Heaven episode. It's five years old...he's five years gone. And it all feels so recent. I think I need to watch it again...it needs to be seen often. There was so much in it that we can learn from. So much we need to be reminded of. Thank you to Staff Sargeant Dwight J. Morgan. Thank you to all service men and women far from home."

"Dear Morgan Family
My name is Morgan Garrison...i know that many of the letters on here have to do with seeing your husbands story on 7th Heaven, and its sad how we have to see a show on ABC Family to remember that many loved ones and their families go through so much while they are fighting or even if they're at home. In the last past 5 years many of have forgotten that there are Americans fighting for our country...this year will mark the 6 year anniversary of September 11. I just wanted to say that your not alone and even though many of us have forgotten about all the Americans fighting for us..theres a great fraction of Americans who havent...and im one of them....i know many people who were fighting for us in Baghdad and in Afghanistan...after graduation my cousin went into the Navy to become a Navy Seal...he is stationed in Conneticut why he finishes school, and learns how to operate submarines. he has years before he gets out of the navy...and i cant wait because my family hardly ever gets to see him....and i can just imagine what you guys are going through...some day i hope to join the forces to help protect my country the way your husband, father, son, nephew, and grandson has done. no matter what he is to u in your family he is a great hero that none of us will forget. May Sgt. Dwight J. Morgan Rest In Piece."
Morgan Garrison of Jefferson City, Mo, United States
"As I was watching the 7th Heaven "The Known Soldier" episode, I started to shred to tears because of the sadness. Knowing that so many people put their lives on the line to fight for our freedom, and that so many people do not thank God for them, just makes fall apart. Today, I thank God and all the Veterans out there, who were and still are fighting for our country. Thank you Staff Sargent Dwight J. Morgan for dying and fighting for our country.

The i thought of how people take everything for gratned even me when people are dieing every day so we can our freedom and not many people say thanks at the end of the day or even pray for them
and they need it more then any one they can die any day leaving every one behind not seeing the ones the love in months just like Dwight did"

"I sat watching a movie honoring Dwight Morgan today. I went to my computer to see if it was a true story. Sadly it was.
To his loved ones, I say thank you for
your sacrifices. I want also to thank Dwight for giving his life to assure all American can continue to have those freedoms he fought for.
I have spent a great deal of time with many of the fallen families in Vermont.
I know only someone who has lost a love one in the war can understand the sacrifices families endure. But I believe from what little understanding I do have, that there is no group in this world that we all as Americans owe our thanks to, than those who have giving their lives for all Americans.
Thank you."

"Dear everyone....Katie again, I just got sent these lyrics from a friend who also watched the 7th Heaven episode 'The Known Soldier' with me & these lyrics actually made me cry when I read them. They also made me think of Staff Sgt Dwight J Morgan & the fact that although he may have died he died with honour. So I though I would share these poignant & beautiful words with you all,
God bless the troops out there xxx
The Grave Lyrics
The grave that they dug him had flowers
Gathered from the hillsides in bright summer colors,
And the brown earth bleached white at the edge of his gravestone.
He’s gone.
When the wars of our nation did beckon,
A man barely twenty did answer the calling.
Proud of the trust that he placed in our nation,
He’s gone,
But eternity knows him, and it knows what we’ve done.
And the rain fell like pearls on the leaves of the flowers
Leaving brown, muddy clay where the earth had been dry.
And deep in the trench he waited for hours,
As he held to his rifle and prayed not to die.
But the silence of night was shattered by fire
As guns and grenades blasted sharp through the air.
And one after another his comrades were slaughtered.
In morgue of marines, alone standing there.
He crouched ever lower, ever lower with fear.
"they can’t let me die! the can’t let me die here!
I’ll cover myself with the mud and the earth.
I’ll cover myself! I know I’m not brave!
The earth! the earth! the earth is my grave."
The grave that they dug him had flowers
Gathered from the hillsides in bright summer colors,
And the brown earth bleached white at the edge of his gravestone.
He’s gone."

It is because of people like you and Dwight that people like me get to enjoy my freedom today. I know it has been a few years since the 7th Heaven episode first ran, but I saw again today and I couldn't help but cry. "To the Morgan Family :
I have just read several dozens of e-mails left for you on this website. I was overwhelhmed by the responses to Staff Srgt Morgans death. Like many others I was touched by the TV show 7th heaven, but I also am from the Willits area, and have over 3 generations of my family that have lived loved worked served and died there. My uncle, a Navy man, my grandfather a Marine, my brother, a Marine, my husband, a 20 USAF vet. I cannot begin to understand your pain or loss, and even though I do not know you, I now, through the miracle of TV, have been forever altered by your husbands, (father's, brother's, son's) sacrifice. I cannot thank him except in my prayers, but I hope you are finding your way. When I think of him I think of home. Of redwood trees, the Benbow Inn, the Eel river, of blue heron, Shelter Cove and Garberville. Places I love, that he went a world away to defend and protect. May God remember you, as do I."

"I watched the episode of 7th Heaven. It showed people that what we do isn't always easy. We all have family somewhere back home. I may not have been deployed before but that doesn't mean that I can't ever. When I do, I'll be afraid for the safety of my wife and child that is on the way. I hope more families pray for all of us men and women in uniform. We fight for each of you though we may not know you. I always have had a protector attitude and I'll always uphold that. I hold that all will read this and understand. I love my wife and our future child. Never forget any that have sacrificed there lives for all of us, myself included. I am only continuing a legacy. Thank you."

To the family: Tell his child and grandchild about him. Make them proud of him, just like I am proud of my grand-grandpa who died in Natzweiler during World War 2. Don't let him be forgotten, he'll live in your hearts!"

"Thank you Staff SGT Dwight J. Morgan. I am not an American. I was born in New Zealand and am now living in Australia. Although we have not physically been affected by the terrorism and war, we have been affected emotionally and would like to thank all the men and women in uniform that have gone to war not only for their own country, but also for the rest of this world. I would also like to thank the people who just say 'hello' as you walk by, the people that help you out just because they want to help. I am only 16 years old but I understand the sacrifice that was made and I thank everyone for giving and not wanting anything in return but peace. It's unfortunate that people have to die before we receive such a simple favour."

"To the Family & Friends of Staff Sargent Dwight J. Morgan:
Last night I sat down to unwind & relax after a hectic day - and I turned on the TV - and like many people I learned about you last night through 7th Heaven. I am sorry for your loss, and pain that you must be feeling - and like many others I am greatful for his heroism for our country. I must admit that I had a very hard time watching this particular episode and had to literally force myself to watch it - only because for me it brings back so much pain and loss for myself. My brother-in-law Sargent Larry Roukey was killed in the explosion at the perfume factory on April 26, 2004, and while I miss him so much, I cannot find fault in anyone - he died doing what he believed in - So I can understand your pain, and I just want to say "Thank You" for sharing Dwight with the rest of the world through 7th Heaven. RIP Dwight and to your family, may you find comfort through his bravery. Sincerely,"

"Dwight J. Morgan,
Well, I have just seen the 7th Heaven episode on television and I don't know if I have the words to express how sorry I am and how much I hurt for Mr. Morgan's family. You are a true hero, and while it makes the war on terror all that more painful, I feel that your story has made the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan more real to me. I have always scoffed at the reasoning behind our invasion of Iraq-but now I understand that I need to focus not on the reason, but on the heroic people who serve our country in uncertain times. So, thanks, Staff Sgt. Dwight J. Morgan."

"Dear the Morgan Family,
The 7th Heaven show was on T.V. just a few minutes ago and I have seen it many times before, but when they mentioned Dwight J. Morgan's name I wanted to check it up on-line. I was so amazed that it was a real person. I am so sorry for your loss, but please remember that he died a hero. He served for our country and was involved with making our country safe. He was an amazing guy in everyone's eyes. My boyfriend is going into the Marines as well. He leaves for boot camp July 18th, 2005. It is incredible how God brought men like my boyfriend and your husband into this world to help fight for the freedom of our country and for the protection of all. God Bless, and I hope you and your family is doing well. God Bless. He will always be a hero in my eyes. He died to keep us alive and your family and he died with honor and pride. God Bless!"

"Dear Family and and friends of Dwight J. Morgan, though i disagree with the politics that have brought soldiers abroad, as a former soldier i can certainly identify with him and the sense of duty that any soldier should feel and i still do, as soldiers we are painfully aware that we could be called upon to give the ultimate sacrifice for our country, but we choose our way with the feeling of honor to serve, even though we know that one day we could die in the service, but knowing that, we still choose your way.
Dear family of Dwight, remember him in honor as we all should, and know that though gone he will not be forgotten."

"Hi my name is Carla Pastorio and I am only 13 but when I watched The Known Soldier it really brought things into prespective. My cousin is in bootcamp for the army right now and I was very scared when he left but I was not even close to being as scared as he was and is. He watched the news a week before he went away and he saw about the people in Iraq who were killed and then dragged through the streets and he was scared and he asked his mom if he really had to go to bootcamp. When I watched that episode of 7th Heaven it made me cry. Normally I cry a little bit when I watch a very sad movie or show or even when I read a very sad book but when I saw this episode I broke down and started bawling. It really touched me and I hope the full message got through to everybody"

"I just finished watching 7th Heaven's Episode, "The Known Soldier" for the first time, and in tears, and only being 16, I actually realize how important it is to pray for people and things everyday. I honestly never knew how serious these things were and I really appreciate that our men and women risk their lives to fight for our freedom here in the United States of America. Although I am very sorry for what Dwight lost, I'm also very sorry for Teresa, Alex, their baby girl, and their family, I appreciate that he lost his life with honor, and lost his life in order to give us freedom. Thank you Dwight, and to all our men and women in our armed forces."

"I watched 7th heaven today and then got online so i could leave my tribute to Dwight J. Morgan and his family. And I would like his family to know that im praying for them. But out of this traggity, im proud, proud that we have soldiers like Dwight J. Morgan who would depart from his family and friends for a long period of time, to serve people he doesn't know. To me that is true courage.
And from what I have read about him, he is a good man, and I know that he is with his father in heaven, where his is getting all the love he could ever need, from the man who saved his life, Jesus Christ."

"I dont know where to start....Dwight you & 7th Heaven have changed the way I think.....as I sit here and write this I am still fighting the tears....I guess I never realized how important it is to pray not just for the everyday things, things we would like to happen ect but also pray for others on a regular basis. I am so sorry that your life got cut short...but proud that you died for the right to be free....for our country. Thank you Dwight for Everything! For helping me see that its important to fight for our freedom! And to your Wife...Im so sorry for you and I will keep you and Alex and your Baby Girl in my thoughts and prayers OFTEN. Rest in peace...Thank you."

"To the family of Dwight J. Morgan & anyone else who loves someone, I always just taken the freedom and liberty we have in the United States for granted, but now my cousin who I am very close to has gone off to Affganastan for the United States Army with the the job for water purifurcation, he and I have a special tradition we do every Christmas. Every year he and I will take turns hiding one of our presents & blindfolding one person & the other person ( the communicator) leads them to their gift. It shows our trust and love toward eachother. But last Christmas he did not show and we have not heard from him since so i ask you to please pray for him and the other men and woman serving our blessed country."

"I just finished watching 7th Heaven, and I didn't even think it was real. I looked it up on the internet, and it surprised me so much that Dwight J. Morgan actually did die in a helicopter crash, and I couldn't believe it. It is so sad, and it makes me realize just how many others this has happened to and Sgt. Morgan was just one person of the millions that have died. I see how much he and others mean to their families and to America, because without them we wouldn't be as grateful for everything they do for us. Thank you so much."

"Hello Dwight J. Morgan, Namaste!!!
I don't even know where to begin. I watched Seventh Heaven yesterday, and I was truly touched by what Ruthy did. We are so lucky that we have people like Dright J. Morgan who fight for our country so that we may be safe and enjoy the freedom that their sacrifices have provided us with. I used to complain a lot about my life and stuffs, but not anymore. Seventh Heaven and Dwight have taught me a valuable lesson, we souldn't be selfish, life is all about caring and giving. I think I am a better person now, coz of Dwight and Seventh Heaven, they have made me realise a lot of things about myself, about my life and have made me appreciate what I have. I cried so much yesterday, I was touched, I was moved. Dwight and his family will always be in prayers. May God Bless all the soldiers out there who are fighting for their country. I wish you all the best. You are all so brave! Thanks Dwight, and I promise you I will try my best to become better and do something for my community, for my country. You are my HERO!!!
We love you and miss you!

"Hello, I am 12 in the year 2004. I have just watched a re-run of Sgt. Dwight J. Morgan, a dedecated marine who died honorly. My heart goes out to Theresa, his wife and Alex, his son. I may never know how hard it is to lose a husband and/or a father during a helicopter ride. But, one thing that they must remember is that he died fighting for the safety of all the people of the world and especially his wife and kid. A prayer by me will be made in our Lord, Jesus Christ's name. Even though I never knew Sgt. Dwighht J. Morgan, I will always remember what Sgt. Dwight J. Morgan, a marine for the U.S. Army, did for me and everyone of the world."

I heard your story on the television show Seventh Heaven. As soon as it ended, I looked your name up on the internet becuase I just wanted to express to you about how greatful I am for you and all the other men and women that serve our country. Because of you we are free and we have upheld that freedom till this day. Even though I am still in 9th grade, your story and others make me want to get involved in serving our great country when I graduate in 2007. "Hey.. I just watched the 7th Heaven episode in memory of Dwight J. Morgan. It made me think so much about all of the men and women over in Afghanistan and how much I take advantage of this. They are doing so much for us to keep our freedom, and we don't go to realize that they're lives are on the line, just for all of us, all of these people they don't know of, but they do it for our country that we love so much. Thank you so much for your time and effort, it's greatly appreciated by me and I love every single one of you over there. You are in my prayers."
