"Ray, I think about how we got to know each other at the FOB when you arrived. We had just had a landline installed at the aid station and you didn’t want to wait to use the satellite phone with everyone else, so you asked if you could use ours. We talked for a while and realized we were both from Texas. You came by and hung out with us (the medics) several times and we watched tv. Mostly the news coverage on the Iraq invasion. We saw each other around the FOB and crossed paths going out on missions. I think about the last time I saw you. They brought you into the aid station and I didn’t even recognize you at first. When I did, my heart sunk. I did my job (along with the doctor and the other medics) the best I could. We lost you for a second and another medic and I did CPR on the drive out to get you on the helicopter. We were told that we brought you back while the helicopter was en route to the airfield. I didn’t sleep at all that night. All I could think about was if I could have done more. I thought about you everyday for the next few months. As a medic, there’s some guilt that comes along with losing someone even when you know you did all you could do, and that you did everything right. Even more so when it’s someone you knew. I still think about you often and think about how your family is doing and I pray for them. You’re sacrifice will NEVER be forgotten. I try to live my life the best I can because you didn’t get to."

"My sweet boy. Nine years tomorrow. Unbelieveable. You would be 33 now. Your girls are growing up and beautiful. Sara is doing a great job raising them. They both just ran a 5K race. They are so smart. Not sure where they got that from. :) I remembered your birthday this year and to tell your portrait Happy Birthday so you wouldn't bug me all day like you did last year. Your Tio says he swears you follow me with your eyes in that picture that Silvia did for us. You probably do. We always did have a special closeness, didn't we? Your Tio and I miss you every day but we know you are safe and at peace and with loved ones. You know that TJ visits you often. He's so proud of you. His little cousin. He's due to retire from the Navy in another year. What a time you two would have had. Well, my little devil, we love you always. Talk soon."

"I met A1C Ray Losano when I was a SSgt at Pope AFB, NC. I met Ray while working the in-processing line at the Military Personnel Flight. Ray was do an enlistment bonus and at the time our payment processing wasn't the best and it took much longer than necessary to get the pay out. Ray was briefed on this process and followed all instructions perfectly. I had the privilege to meet with him several times before the process was complete, I was thoroughly impressed with his professionalism. He was certainly a Sharp Airman and one who set the example for others to follow. I have thought of Ray every memorial day and I just wanted to let his family know that really thought highly of him! God Bless you Brother!"
Christopher N. Walker, SSgt, USAF of Mt. Crawford, VA

"To all concerned,
I rememeber Ray from Del Rio High School, he was a quiet kid and was very smart. I did not know what ever happened to him until years later when we got the news from the News Herald, we were all heartbroken. He made the ultimate sacrifice, God bless his family as they carry on. Thank you for your sacrifice."

"Primo, you have been gone a long time now. Your girls are growing up and so beautiful, you would be proud. We all miss you so much. Yesterday, it all came together and Bin Laden is gone. I am sure you and all the other soldiers whom have left us are rejoycing, it is because of you & your fellow armed force men that we are free and now we will be able to find some peace with our loss.

I love you and miss you.

"Hello,

I would like thank you and your family for your service. Some people just don’t know the sacrifice we as military members and their families make. I am currently in Kandahar Afghanistan and I live in Camp Losano. When we arrived the MSG Chief gave us a quiz of who Camp Losano was named after. My ESFS Commander knew every question. And I thought wow Sir you have been here for a while. He said it’s not that,” he said we should all know; it’s a form of respect”. And I said you are so right Sir. So thank you again, and God bless your family and everyone that loves and misses you.

I think of you and Lee all the time my friend. I remember doing your Eval so you could get mission ready to go over. I tell all my friends how you started the evaluation with a cigar to butter up the evaluator, but you did not need it. Ray I promise to come see you when I get down that way. I still have the pictures from your service and it still brings tears to my eyes. Lee, bless you my friend and miss you guys.

"To the family of Raymond Losano,
This past Saturday, the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony took place at Arlington. I was walking by with one wreath left and noticed your loved one was in the Air Force. I layed one at his grave and have a picture. If anyone knows how to contact his family, I would love to pass it on. Later, I looked up his story and was shocked to see, that out of all the graves I could have layed one at, My best Friend Scott Duffman, KIA 18 FEB 2007 and Raymond, were both stationed out of Pope AFB at the time of their death...

Today, marking the 6th anniversary of the terriost attacks, you were remembered at the noon and evening mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Your mom and dad were there. Thank you for your sacrifice so that America can enjoy freedom."

"Ray,

I am sorry to say that the only time that I saw you; I could do nothing to help you. I worked ATOC at Bagram and lived two tents down from your tent in AF Village. I heard about you when you arrived and stood proud in formation when you left us.

One of my good friends was a medic there in Bagram and was very distraught by the fact that they could not bring you back. He told me that when you came into Bagram on the night of April 25th your eyes were very much alive and still fighting. You hung in there, valiantly longer then your body thought it could.

The first time I saw you, was the afternoon of the 26th. It was a clear day full of sunshine and had a constant breeze whispering. I stood at attention at the door of the C-130 when we loaded you up and sent you home. As the sun bathed my face in light and warmth, I thought about my own family, how I was blessed to have them in my life, and how we all take certain things for granted.

I think of you and your sacrifice a lot Ray. I want you, your family, and friends to know that I appreciate you, and honor your memory.

"Ray,
I talked to Alf the other day and it is funny but after all these years he still tells ALL of his girlfriends before they get all jealous of us talking :"it's Ray's girlfriend". HAHAHA, how long ago was that? But I guess he knows what we meant to each other and how much we loved each other. Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know that you are still in my mind, heart and soul. WIll be going to Del Rio for Thanksgiving and will stop by and check on your family, for I know that if I think of you all the time, how they must feel.I dream about you all the time, and I am not sure if you are coming into my dreams to tell me you are still in my life but it seems to be so real. You alive and talking to me like you never left. Thank you! I really do miss you and will keep you in my life forever! Mis Ojos LLoran Por Ti! Don't forget our song! Miss you! Juli"

"Ray,
I read all of these stories from people who loved you when you were alive and those who loved you after you were gone. I know that you know who has written in this memorial, I am sure you are laughing because where were they when you were alive. I am trying not to get angry, it's just that I miss you and I am trying to figure everything out still."
Friend of Tucson, AZ

"Ray,
It's been two years since your death and Tony, myself and my mom still talk about and think about you. You were such a great person and we shared a lot of laughs with you. From going to the movies, bowling, golf tournaments and eating at Macarroni Grill. I was going through some pictures the other day and found one of you from a halloween party we had back in 1998 right after Tony and I got married. You were dressed as GI Joe. I treasure that picture because just seeing you dressed in military fatigues reminds me of what you did for our country. When you passed away I was two months away from giving birth to my son and I could not imagine what your wife must have been going through being pregnant and losing you. I pray for her and your daugthers to continue to have strength as well as your parents and your family. I share with your cousin Guera the fun memories I have of you. We miss you Ray!!!"
Denise Reis of Tucson, Az

"Ray, I think about you everyday brother. Even though I'm not at Bragg anymore, I tell your story to anyone who will listen. I guess it's my way of keeping you alive and telling people how proud I am to have been with you there at the end. It was crazy when they first opened up on us and you could actually see them so close to us. When we hit the ground I looked back at you and you were calm just waiting to be told what to do and then you did it flawlessly and professionaly. After you got hit it was the look in your eyes that I can't forget, the fear. God, I wish I could have done something to help you, to keep you here with us. I would give up all the medals in the world to have you back with us. I felt and still feel helpless and wish I could have done more, I'm sorry. I will continue to tell your story so you are remembered and live on. I'm honored to have work with you and to have know such a fine man. I'm a changed man because of you and what we went through together, I will never forget you."
TSgt Lee Blackwell of United States Air Focre Academy

"Raymond,
I remember all those years you called to wish me a Happy Birthday. But then again how could you forget if it was a day before yours. You touched my heart and soul like no other person has. The memories we made will never beforgotten, but will be treasured for all eternity. It has been a little over a year since you have been gone and yet the disbelieve and hurt have not left my heart. I still wonder if someone will come to tell me it was a mistake and you are really still with us all. But those are just wishful dreams that I know will never be. Just know that you will ALWAYS be in my heart and thoughts. I miss you so much and I still weep for you. I wonder if you are laughing from Heaven at when my mom used to call yuo "RAINMAN" for all those tears you made me cry. Well, I still do, and as long as you are not hear they will always be. I hope to see you in Heaven...save me a spot. I thank GOD every day that he let me be in your life, you made me a better person, and for that I am grateful. Thank you! He risked himself so that his fellow soldier could live. That's what makes the victory over the evil of terrorism possible.

He was among the very best this nation had. Our thanks and deep respect go to him and his family."
