"Benjamin,
I was thinking about the old days of the Pete and all of our conversations on the fantail of the ship when I just wanted to "Leave this damn boat." Your sarcastic wit always put a smile back on my face. You were one of my many "brothers" and you are gone now but certainly not forgotten. Rest in peace my friend. Much love"
Summer of Huntington,WV

"Ken, Gail and family,
As Memorial Day approaches once again, my thoughts go to Ben and the ultimate sacrifice he paid in 2001 for our continued freedom. Although you know he is in a good place, I am sure there are still many days that all of you go through mixed emotions.

Since my brother Vince was murdered this past October, leaving three small children behind, I too experienced a deep sense of loss that words alone can not describe. It was my faith, family and support of friends that got me through the darkest days. His birthday was just May 12th and although I will always mourne his death, I choose to celebrate his life and keep his memory alive. I wish to do the same for Ben.

Although I think of him often, on Memorial Day my family always pays special tribute to Benjamin. This year we will be marching in a parade on Treasure Island Beach in sunny Florida. Ben is a true hero, who although absent from this earth, will never be forgotten. I know he continues to watch over us from heaven but please accept my continued condolences and deepest respect and know he continues to be in our thoughts and prayers.

God Bless,
Toni (Chuck Weller's daughter)"
