When he returned from Bosnia he was a changed person. He was a man about to start a new life as a husband and a father. He embarked on a journey to serve his country and do his job, which was all he ever wanted to do. He didn't want to be a hero, but he was. He will always be a hero from the 320th, that we will never forget. He gave the ultimate sacrifice to his country, and for that he will always be my hero. I had the task of working with his family after the unfortunate news. After working with them I have no doubt where Joe got his friendly, warm nature from, or where he got that twinkle in his eye. Although I would never want to meet another family under these circumstances, it was a pleasure to get to know such a nice family. I will never forget the duty that bestowed upon me, when Joe did his duty as a fellow soldier. He will never be forgotten.
