"Hey Joe, I left a similar message on Adam Kinser's page. I have been wearing your name on a KIA bracelet for all of these years, and although here at Ft. Bragg since '04, some kid came up to me at LAX and asked the reason...sorry, getting blurry from tears...why I wore that thing. I told him that you were one of my wife's Army kids doing what was right, and I gave that kid the bracelet and told him to take it to his history teacher...SGM Mary's husband..."

"Dear Joe,
Hi, it's your Uncle Mike. It's been over 5 years since you left us, and almost every day I think of you. I wanted to give you one of my Vietnam medals to bring back with you when you came home, but never got the chance. I did buy an old Russian rifle to shoot upon your return. Your Dad has it now. I don't know what else to say right now, I just know you and the fellows with you did the best you could, and hopefully this whole mess will come to a conclusion soon. I loved and miss you. Uncle Mike"

"Hey Betsy,
It was good to meet your son at the fair on Sunday, I find it sad that he won't get to spend more time with his father. I do feel some remorse that he will grow up knowing that he had a father that was willing to do what he could for a cause that is greater than himself. I thank you both very much for the sacrifice you have made as a family. If there is ever anything I can do to help feel free to drop me a message.

Sincerely,
Mark Eggleston

"To Joe's family, friends, and fellow soldiers. I served along side Joe for almost all of his short career. I will never forget the first time that I saw him. He looked so young and innocent. When he returned from Bosnia he was a changed person. He was a man about to start a new life as a husband and a father. He embarked on a journey to serve his country and do his job, which was all he ever wanted to do. He didn't want to be a hero, but he was. He will always be a hero from the 320th, that we will never forget. He gave the ultimate sacrifice to his country, and for that he will always be my hero. I had the task of working with his family after the unfortunate news. After working with them I have no doubt where Joe got his friendly, warm nature from, or where he got that twinkle in his eye. Although I would never want to meet another family under these circumstances, it was a pleasure to get to know such a nice family. I will never forget the duty that bestowed upon me, when Joe did his duty as a fellow soldier. He will never be forgotten.

We love you Joe, forever and always. Your fellow soldiers from the 320th"

"To Joe's family and friends: I met Joe the night of the 28th. And for that very short time I saw him as a gentle soul. He was very laid back, and very nice. But just before that hour on the 29th when I saw him infront of us I admired his bravery. That whole day he was working, and loved what he did."
Damian Riccitelli of Qandahar Afghanistan
