"EZ your loss was felt around the world. In your crazy, grumpy, friendly way you have touched my heart and have always had my respect. Every day that I come to work I have your picture looking at me and I remember the last conversation we had before you left. With all the great times and the sad ones that we shared they will always be in my heart. Knowing how you were I know that you are looking down from the heavens and you are saying " @$%##, whose your Papi. Have one on me, locos!" Take care viejo and keep the beer light on for us when the times comes for us to join you."
Juan A. Perez of Bogota, Colombia

"To the family and friends of Master Sgt. Emigdio Elizarraras:
"EZ-E"...I was "Ranger Buddies" with EZ in both Pre-Ranger in HI and in Ranger School (Class 4-95). He was a SSG and I was a SPC and I considered him my mentor. I am truly saddened by his passing. I last spoke with EZ while he was at Ft. Polk, LA in AUG 04 and all he could tell me is how much he loved the "SF" life. I drove by the billets named for him today and will post a picture of his memorial. He was definitely one of the good guys. I'll miss you my colleague, my mentor, and most importantly, my friend!

"To the family and friends of Emigdio E. Elizarraras,

Each night I go to sleep with my family safe and sound; thoughts of your sacrifice too far from my mind.

But tonight as Memorial Day draws near, I search for a way to honor those who serve and learn of your lose….and then I read about Emigdio’s life through the words of friends and family. I struggle with the right words to write here, as all would be lacking. But know as I go through this Memorial Day I will think of Emigdio and his sacrifice - though I am not worthy of it I know my daughter is safer for it.

I am truly sorry for you loss."
Jerry of Attleboro, Massachusetts
