"You are never forgotten Yazzie! I still feel guilty for being the one who re-enlisted you when we were in Iraq. If I hadn't convinced you the Army was your future, Maybe you would still be here. I am sorry brother.

"I have never know Clifton Jerrod Yazzie until I did my research to discover that we have the same relative.
His Grandfather, Jay Yazzie Sr, is the brother of my great-grandmother, Annie B Dodge.
He may be gone but I could feel his spirit as I read the stories from his obituary.
I know he was a courageous man and deeply loves each one of his family members.
I honor for his service and may he rest in peace.
Soon we will met some day
Gone but not forgotten"

"I don't know who will read this after so many years. I am finally able to talk about the event without tears. I'm his TeamLeader from C Co. Clifton "Chief" would always send us off to the streets of Iraq with a war cry and was very proud of his heritage. The feeling of survivors guilt is gone but the honor to serve with him as well as call him a friend will never depart. Rest In Peace Chief..Now get that Pig up!!"

"Spc. Yazzie,

My name is Scott, and thus far I have left messages with your three fallen comrades of that dreadful day. We met and served together in Iraq, back then you would have called me 1Lt Scott Perez. I was the Officer-In-Charge for sending you home. Suffice it to say, you were sent home with more honor and more pride than I have ever seen. I know it must pain the medics that they could not save you, but your sacrifice to this country has affected countless lives. I tried forgetting about the memories of your arrival to our base, I wondered if you were married, if you had any children? As I prepared the paperwork and wrapped the U.S. Flag, I realized I was delaying your departure...but I would not allow you to leave Iraq until I knew the Flag was drapped perfectly over you. I thank God for my Honor Guard experience because I never knew how important that was until I met you. As thousands of your brother's and sisters saluted you one last time at 0300hrs, you boarded a west bound plane never to return for another tour with your battalion. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten and I will always honor you every memorial day. Until now I could never speak of this but I know in my heart this is all I can do. Thank you for protecting my freedom and my appreciation for you will never fade away."

"Clifton,
I would like to say thank you to you and the other three soldiers who were also killed in that blast for your service and sacrifice for our Country. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

"We knew Yazzie from Germany. My husband was deployed to Iraq with him. He and his wife were one of our closest friends. I remember how nice and funny he was. He was a big kid at heart. I remember him walking up the drive way, tv under one hand and Xbox in the other, huge grin on his face...having to walk all the way from Askren Manor because his little tiny car wasn't running. When they were PCSing, my husband took him to the airport, i remember watching them pack our car with there luggage from the kitchen window and he turn and waved with that big grin. I will always keep that memory with me.
He is and always will be OUR HERO. We miss you Yazzie!"

"To the family of Clifton Yazzie,

I served with 'Yazzie' as I knew him in OIF2 and he was one of my best friends. I am incredibly saddened to hear that I lost a true friend. One of my fondest memories I have of him is how he taught himself how to type while in Iraq. That is just one example I wanted to share of what kind of person he was. I will remember Yazzie for the rest of my life."

"To the family of Clifton Yazzie. I am sorry for your lost. I know that this not going to make up for your lost, but I feel the need to let you know that I was one of the medics that tried to save your loved one. I can say from the bottom of my heart that we tried and did all that we could and then some to save him. Again I am sorry that we where not able to bring him home to you. He will never be forgotten."
