May we honor the lives of those who have fought for our freedom with the way we choose to live our own, I was chosen because of a very close friend who served with the 48 Marines and Corpsmen who sacrificed it all; to read each story, to get to know a small piece of their lives through families and friends. I chose to honor each of them with a bible verse:

Jeffrey L. Wiener 5/7/05
"But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." - Luke 12:48 (Ability)"
Haleigh Kilgore of West Virginia

"Jeff....15 years man....the image still so clear when Doc Colson came into the room in the middle of the night saying you had been hurt. I still think of you often, more than just this day. After all this time my only hope now is that you have found your eternal peace, that your family loves you but knows it's ok to keep living...and that you know I've taken every opportunity over the last 15 years to make them pay dearly for what they did to you and the rest that didn't come home...the blessed 48 of 3/25. You all live on in my heart forever, I will never forget. As long as I live, you all live. I miss you all, take care of yourselves. Until the next time."

"Not many days pass that I don't see Jeff's smiling face in my mind. What a great loss to our Navy and country. You will be sorely missed my friend ! I believe this famous quote from Captain John Paul Jones sums up the attitude and personal devotion to his country---"I wish to have no Connection with any Ship that does not Sail fast for I intend to go in harm's way.""

"I was Jeff's instructor while he was at Field Medical Service School. I was so impressed by him while he was there. He had a family, friends and a job that he loved. But, he had a calling after 9/11 that he had to answer. He was a great student and a great person. He made everyone around him better. Before he deployed he came back to the school to tell me that he was going to Iraq. I told him that he should come out that night with some of my friends and I so we could give him his last night out for the next 7 months. He agreed and we had a great time. That night we all agreed that when he came home, we would all go to that exact same spot for his coming home party. Sadly, we never got that chance. I remember the day that I got the news. I was crushed. My thoughts emmediatly went to his family. He talked about his wife and children constantly. He loved them so much. He wanted to live his life in a manner that would make them proud. It was the most important thing to him. I know that he succeeded. His loss will always hurt me as I'm sure it will all of you as well. He was a great man and will not be forgotten."
HMC Buchanan of Camp Lejeune, NC

"Three years later and it's harder to remember your laughter. Your loss has shifted my world and those so much closer to you greatly. I can only hope you are looking down on those who struggle with your loss in their hearts. When I hear the word hero, you are what comes to mind.
No one was more Marine than you.

"To family/friends of Doc Weiner,
First off, most of us will never be as dedicated to freedom and liberty as Jeff was. I only knew him for a short time but he left a lasting impression on me. Jeff set the standard for ALL corpsmen in 3/25's BAS. He was a patriot in the truest sense of the word. To his wife and daughters please understand this... HIS SACRIFICE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN BY THOSE OF US WHO SERVED WITH HIM. Fair winds and following seas...shipmate."

"To the Family of HM3 JefF Wiener:
I consider him a friend and will miss him deeply. He and I went to Field Medicine school together at Camp Lejeune. He and I talk at some length about our lives and what helping others meant to each other. I know that he would not have wanted to depart this world in any other fashion. Saving the lives of his Marines is an honor. I am proud to have known him and take time think of him every day. As I am about to retire, I will ensure that all new HM's will know of his sacrifice. God Bless you, MY FRIEND."
HM1 David W. McKie of US NAVY

"I was in boot camp with Doc Wiener and he was in my fire attack team. He helped me to learn the words to"Anchors Away" and we studied together often. We bonded over the fact that we were both EMS providers and were headed for the FMF. Jeff lifted all of our spirits every day by keeping us all laughing. Learning of his death hit very close to home as I prepare for my little trip to the sand box. Jeff is the true embodyment of the FMF corpsman and his legacy will live on forever. Rest in Peace brother...I send my most sincere condolences to his family and friends, he was a magnificent human being and I am honored to have known him and shared our experience in Bootcamp. I will carry his memory with me everywhere in peace and into battle. Semper Fidelis"
HM3 Sean T. Pergerson (FMF) of San Francisco, California, US

"My son, a Marine, had spoken to me about "Doc" long before 3/25 headed to Iraq. Jeff had been working with him to give him additional training (on his own time)in combat first responder first aid, as there are just not enough medics to go around with all the Marines. My son thought so highly of Jeff. When I informed him that the foot locker he had sent back to the US from Al Asad had arrived intact, his very first question was about the condition of the memorial tribute to Jeff. He was relieved that the program had arrived intact, in perfect condition. He, 3/25 and all of us mourn Jeff's death. Jeff meant so much to the Marines--they considered him 'one of their own!'"
Linda of NY, USA

"My sympathies for your loss of Doc Wiener. I only knew him since January when we met in Lejeune, but Jeff left lasting good memories with us all.
