"Stephen J. White,
SFC White, It has taken me a long time to write something like this because every time you come to my mind tears come to my eyes. From the very first day the I meet you, you made an impact on my life. You showed me the way of the Lord and always told me to keep the Lord close to my heart. I know that God has his right hand man next to him now. We all miss your smile, laughter, jokes, and stories that would grab us and keep our attention. SFC White you made such a difference in my life that when I lost you. I lost a family member. I remember the last time that I saw you was Christmas of 2004 and that’s when my wife got to meet you for the first time. Even then you made an impact on my wife’s life. My wife told me once we left, “He is such a good, loving man, a man of God. I can tell that he really cares about anyone and everyone that he comes in contact with” Your passing always weighs heavy on my heart and always will. Stephen J. White you will always be missed, never be forgotten, and I know that you are in a better place with the man that you loved the most our Lord and Savior. We will not forget one of Gods most precious Angels. SFC White I love you and I know that you are watching over everyone from heaven."
SGT Rummings, Zach of Ft. Hood Texas
"White,
I miss you man. I will definately never forget you. You were like a big brother to me. You took me in when I first got to Bulldog Battery. I appreciate that. I remember all the great times we had during our first trip over there. All the jokes with you, Gandy, Travis, Flint, Will, the list goes on and on. We had some good times, you definately made it easier. I appreciate how you always looked out for everyone else. You were the model leader and friend to so many. January 5th was a crushing blow for me on the second go 'round. A lot of other people, too. I still choke up thinking about you, Bro. The only thing that comforts me is I KNOW you are in a better place. And as much as you looked out for everyone while you were here, I KNOW you are watching my back everywhere I go now, and I appreciate it. Rest in Peace, "Red"!"

"To the Family of Stephen J. White.
I am so deeply saddened by your loss and by the loss of so many lives in this ongoing war. In San Francisco, there is an artist named Dianne Platner who created an art installation as a memorial to the US soldiers who have died in the war, called 4000 Lights. Ribbons bearing the individual names of each fallen warrior were slipped over a small light. It was a stunning site both uplifting and heart-wrenching to see the 4000 lights, each glimmering in memory for our beloved dead. After the installation was taken down, Dianne gave out the ribbons to members of our community, each with one of the soldiers names. Your beloved Steve's name is on the ribbon I have. She encouraged each of us to reach out to the soldiers' families and share our love and gratitude for the dear price you have paid. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
You can see photos of the event and read more about the sculpture/installation at: http://www.dplatner.com/x4000lights.html"
