In San Francisco, there is an artist named Dianne Platner who created an art installation as a memorial to the US soldiers who have died in the war, called 4000 Lights. Ribbons bearing the individual names of each fallen warrior were slipped over a small light. It was a stunning site both uplifting and heart-wrenching to see the 4000 lights, each glimmering in memory for our beloved dead. After the installation was taken down, Dianne gave out the ribbons to members of our community, each with one of the soldiers names. Your beloved Steve's name is on the ribbon I have. She encouraged each of us to reach out to the soldiers' families and share our love and gratitude for the dear price you have paid. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
