"Dear Mrs. Ulbrich,
I am so sorry to here about Scotty, and all the trouble you are having with the grave marker. My heart goes out to you. I remember your kids when they where little, and they where great kids. I knew they would make a difference in the world. I love you so much, and I'm greatful for having you in my life as a child. I still feel that you helped make the person I am today. Just keep your spirits up, and keep making a difference in the students you teach. I hope you touch their hearts and life as you did mine. I miss Scotty, and am greatful for have known such a hero, and individual."

"Scotty will always be a great memory of mine. I only knew him for a couple of years but he created so many stories. His memorial stone on campus at Marshall has been a common visiting place for me. I gave him a ticket for "We Are... Marshall" because we all know he would have been first in line. My daughter asks me once a week, "Are we going to see Scotty's tree today?" I wish he could have met her. He will never be forgotten."

""I'm from Williamson, WV, and I too am active duty military. I joined more than seven years ago, and I've personally experienced the sacrifices that military members and their families make on a daily basis. Brian gave his life for every American, even me and my family. As his brother in arms and a fellow West Virginian, I am saddened to hear of his death. I didn't know him, but still, I will never forget what he gave for freedom. I thank God everyday that we have brave men and women like Brian who are willing to put themselves in harm's way for people they will never meet. Because of people like Brian, America is strong. To the family and friends of Brian, I offer my sincere condolences and I will keep you in my prayers. May God bless you.""
