He will always be in my thoughts, RIP JOSEPH C. THIBODEAUX III and all other men and women who lost their lives fighting for our safety back home <3 ."

"I will always remember joe, sitting in my room in Iraq talking about life, or watching movies in his room. Joe was not only my Soldier but my good friend. We had good and bad times together, fights and laughter. I live with the images of his death vividly in my mind, it has taken me nearly nine years to post anything. I have wanted so badly to tell his family i am sorry for their loss. It should have been me that day, not him. I miss him, and will never forget him. I am truely sorry it has taken me this long to say anything. God rest your soul brother. SFC Whitmore (NOMAD 3)"

"Dear Joe - As we are all in the midst of the holiday season and a new year approaching I just wanted you to know that I am thinking about you. I was remembering that time we spend together X-mas 2002 and New Years '02-'03. Who would've ever guessed that would be the last time we'd see each other. Still thinking of you everyday.
Love always, Allie

"I never knew Joe personally, and only talked to him a handful of times at FOB McHenry while waiting in line to use the phone or internet. He struck me as a stand up kind of guy. I remember the day he was killed as well as that of the other Soldiers who were killed in Hawijah like it was yesterday. It sure doesn't feel like it has been over 4 years now. I hope the Thibodeaux family knows how much we appreciate his sacrifice and how proud we were to have served with him."

"To my dearest Joe, I know this message is a long time coming and I apologize for that. You deserve better. But I am writing now as the 4th anniversary of that tragic day approaches to tell you that I think about you everyday. I remember the conversations we had on the computer the summer before - your positive outlook and heroic attitude. To call you brave would be an understatement. I think about your family too - wondering how they are doing. MY life is so different now - I miss our online chats. I know that although our paths turned out be very different that we would've stayed connected somehow. After all we had been through I think it was destined. Joe - I miss you. I miss your smile and laughter and there is a small piece of my heart that will always belong to you.
Thank you a million times over!!! Love always and forever!"

""I opened my eyes and saw you here-
Your face was dirty and filled with tears.

You said not to worry that you did't go alone-
There were angels all around waiting to carry you home.

And when you got to the pearly white gates-
Our heavenly Father was there to tell you your fate.

He said, "Come my son, and take a seat"-
"You have done your time on those worn out feet."

And so he came through to the shining light-
And got what he was promised for living right.

The site was amazing; the angels were so carefree-
"No pain and sorrow here, my son, only the angels and me."

"You served your country, you did your best-
Eternally you are granted peace and rest."

"Your family will be sad, but they soon will understand-
For noone can control what is out of their hands."

"It was time for me to call you home-
You see I needed your help to guard my throne."

And now I'm in a better place-
I'm guarding our father's heavenly gates.

So you see my love, you musn't cry-
Afterall, I wasn't alone when I died."

""THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell"

"To Joe Thibodeaux's family and friends,
Though it has been over a year since he stepped into eternity as he paid the ultimate price for freedom, I just wanted you to know that a family in Jacksonville, FL that never met him, keeps you all in prayer. Though his mother's name, Rebecca, was the only quoted relative, we know his loss has touched so many relatives and his community in Louisiana. We first saw his unforgettable smile in an article published in the UPS teamster magazine. Its a smile that lights up a room. We keep his photo on our refrigerator door as a reminder to keep all our service men and women in prayer. No words can express our condolences, but know that an untold number of Americans like myself are keeping Joe's memory and sacrifice in our hearts. Thank you.."

You are always in my heart. ""Upon The Loss of The Soldier"
As time goes by
I think about the day you died
The way I felt
When the news was dealt
It took me a while to believe that you are gone
But then I realized you are not alone
And then it hit me
That you are never again going to be
As I sat in the car
Everything being so far
When I close my eyes
I pray for all the lives
I often think about
That without a doubt
You died doing what you love
Fighting for the ones that you will meet someday above.
Miss you Torrie Istre"

"To"Thib" his family and friends,

I met Thib when I was attached to 2nd BCT to deploy to OIF....we were in Kuwait doing weapons training and I was having trouble to say the least. The job I have in the army doesn't have a lot to do with weapons. Anyway Thib walked up to me with the smile and said you look like you need help. He spent the entire day helping me and others become proficent. He was a kind and patient person with that water is stronger than rock type of determination. When we learned of his death my roomate and I cried for the world truly lost a beautiful person. I offer you my prayers...know that Thib will be missed be many and was loved by all who know him.

It's me again, I wanted to say hi and I miss you more and more everyday. I think all the time of how lucky I was to be with you when you were here on this earth. "Joe,

It has been my pleasure to be your friend: to go to school with you, train in the martial arts with you, party with you, to laugh with you, and share life's experiences. I was watching a videoclip of you, Jacob, Peter and me today. You have made me proud and I look forward to seeing you again, where I have no doubt you will have me laughing.

PS: It is very nice to see people who have never met Joe writing a message to him and/or his family. Joe was full of life and love. It is sad he died at such a young age. But, Joe believed in what he was doing and I do as well. We're lucky for people like him who answer our country's call without hesitation."

"To the parents and family of Sp. Joseph C. Thibodeaux,

I am a student from Rocky Hill High School and our Computer Essentials class was assigned a project to honor a military person who has died--the soldier I received was your son. I wanted to do something really nice for him, so every night I have lit a candle and had a picture of your Joseph right next to it and I've prayed. While researching about Joseph, I learned that people called him a "kind-hearted soul"...his dedication to his job and those around him. Joseph is probably looking down right now thanking his parents, friends and family that they all supported him."
Vanessa Marinelli of Rocky Hill, CT USA
