"My father was a retired army staff sargeant. I'm a trumpet player, and he had told me since I began playing horn when I was a child that I would one day play taps at his funeral. I had that honor four years ago this coming November. My father was also named Thomas J Strickland. I thank God for the service and sacrifice my father made in Korea and for the soldiers who lay their lives on the line for this country every day. May God bless and keep the families of our fallen heroes."

"Your son was a brave young man that gave his life for his country.
I am very sorry for your loss but I want you to know that I am thinking of him and the many others that went off to war to to fight for what they believe is the right thing to do.
You are in my thoughts and your son will never be forgotten.
America's position in the world does not come easy, nor without loss so that others may live in peace.
We need to think of all those souls that loose their life in war...either side, for we are all children of the same God
Thank you"
