"Remembering Shondee and Onwordi is very powerful.. They impacted so many lives in so little time!! I served with them in C.CO 2-12 Cav.. Was out in sector the night they were lost to us.. The scene was very saddening to us all.. My brothers all felt a big loss.. It was our goal to not lose any of our brothers that tour and implemented well by our leaders to take care of each other.. But what can you do when a enemy uses road side bombs.. I myself being Native feel a loss of a Native Warrior and a brother in arms!! I know Harry is watching over me and I felt it on a visit back to my reservation in North Dakota.. My lawyer is married to family of Harry having a visit with people who knew him from their reservation back at home on my reservation.. I was in awe!! My brother still knew how to get a hold of me.. Again in another time of deployment in 2006 one of the old Plt Sergeants in my C.Co 1-5 CAV SFC Anthony Toney I served my second tour with was actually Harry's recruiter.. My brother is and will always be watching over us.. COLD STEEL!! SSG Tyrrell DeCoteau Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.. Hooah and Hoka Hey!!!"

"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com"

"I remember Harry as a funny and great person, he and I used to share the same locker during baseball season when we were both in High School, i remember him as a very funny guy who always made me laugh, now that I am deployed I think of his sacrifice and the service he did for our country, I just wanted to let everyone know that he was an awesome person and I think about him from time to time and how his unselfish sacrifice makes me proud that I knew him and that I am now one of his brothers in arms. He keeps me motivated. Thanks Harry"

"I found this site after thinking of PFC Shondee as I was doing some homework I was never good at, and remember I took Physics with a dear friend who was taken so soon for our Country...

It has been over three years since that moment I got news of Harry, I am proud that I got to know him as a friend well going to high school with him. I well never forget those times we shared in our Chemistry class with Mr. Becker and that moment in Physics class."

"My deepest condolenses to the family of PFC Shondee. I am SSG Garcia and I served with Harry in C Co 2-12 CAV. Your son has been in my thoughts along with SPC Onwordi, they were two of the finest men I have had the honor of serving with. I would like to make a correction to a message that is posted on here. To Captain Matthew Brown of Orlando Florida: the medic you talk of that provided medical attention to your gun shot to the head on April 9, 2004 was SPC Justin B. Onwordi. SPC Onwordi saved many lives that day alonge with PFC Shondee. PFC Shondee was in 2nd platoon and was driving and assisting the rest of the Soldiers in your unit that were ambushed get to safety. They were loading up Soldiers and civilian contractors in their gun-trucks and taking them back to the Dairy Milk Factory to get loaded inside the Bradleys to be medevac. SPC Onwordi and PFC Shondee touched many lives that day. The world lost 2 great men on the night of 2 August 2004, you will not be forgotten. may God Bless."

"I came to know of Pfc. Shondee yesterday, June 14th 2006. A few days earlier I came across a website called www.herobracelets.org. I purchased a "hero bracelet" both to honor our fallen service men and women, but also to contribute to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. When my bracelet came a few days later I set out to research the brave soldier whose name was inscribed on my bracelet. I found numerous articles on the internet remembering Pfc. Shondee. I continue to stand amazed at the bravery of our young men and women. I want to thank Pfc. Harry Shondee, Jr. for his dedication to our great country, his service, and ultimately his sacrifice. To his family and friends I offer my condolences. May the peace of God be with each of you. My family will remember you in our prayers."

"On April 9th 2004, I was shot in the head in Baghdad during an ambush. My platoon reached an area we knew only as the "Milk Factory" where my driver carried me over to a Bradley Fighting Vehicle. At that point I was immediately treated and taken care of by a medic. I was barely conscious at the time and had only one eye still intact. I remember closing the eye I had left, and the feeling of that medic taking care of me. It was only last week, during an amazing coincidence that I spoke to someone who was there in that Bradley, that I found out it was PFC Shondee that took care of me. My sincere condolences to PFC Shondee's family. I wish I could have had to opportunity to personally thank him for playing a significant role in caring for me. He is one of the individuals that made it possible for me to recover quickly from my injuries and continue to serve in the United States Army still today. PFC Shondee was a true honor to his unit, the Army, and his country. I am proud to be able to say I served with him. He truly was an American Soldier."

"Thank you all for the condolences. Thanks to the soldiers who served our great country. Thanks to the soldiers that have fallen as my brother has. I wish the best for the soldier still serving and hope they stay strong. Many people came in support for my family from all over the united states. They would stop by our home even if it took time from thier busy schedule. That was one of the greatest feelings of all cause strangers would be in the house. Some soldiers who served, were being shipped out, and were wanting to join would stop by. In a way I think that he inspired them to stay strong and our country will stay strong as long as we endure. Never give up! I wish the best to all his brothers still serving!!"

As the lead singer, I hope that we and others in the Navajo community learn that song and sing it throughout Indian country in memory of all our warriors. He will always be a warrior.
