I only met Charles very briefly, but thinking back on that one instance of time, it was a great moment in time. Charles came up to my tent on the base camp asking us how many people were going downtown. He received word that we were going to see our Iraqi unit downtown and had only so many seats in his tank. "Are you crazy, Lieutenant?", I said to him. "We all (all 10 of us) are going downtown". He replied, "Ooops, well they told me you guys needed a ride."
