I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. "This for you Ramon from an old friend in police training, never will forget you buddy, thanks for being a good friend, will meet again but not yet

Who said my life was easy?
Who said I was suppose to go to college?

But instead I'm in denial
Wishing upon a starless night

I know It's out there some we're
Will this life get easier!?

Or will I lose everything
Everything I ever worked for!

Things never change
I'm still hiding

Working hard and getting nothing in return
A uniform, a patch, and people who hate me?

People who can't stand me?
People who don't even know me?

This is my life
A United States Marine....

A creeper of the night
A bearer of your freedom

A reason you have the Stars and stripes
Stop burning my colors

and Spiriting on my Flag!
I fight for that…

You just voice your duncical opinion
Which I understand!

I'll take this stand
And listen to what you have to say anyway

But before you make any rationalized comments
Would you dare walk in my shoes, For just one day!?

See what I see!
Hear what I hear!

And Bear what I bear!
before you comment on my Life!

Would you change your life??
Like I did mine

And fight for This Country's Liberty!"
Jaime Silva class 503 urra! of Montebello, CA

"Hey Ramon your always in my toughts bro. if it wasnt for you and louis i probably never be wearing the EGA on my chest. I still remember those days in boot and SOI man you were a fool and so was I. Im heading out to Iraq soon. we'll be in Ramadi kicking some *. Your always in my heart man."
Alexander Ruiz of Maywood, CA

"Hey Ramon, its been three years since you past but to many of us it feels like just days. Your grave is less than 5 minutes away from where i live and i am constantly reminded of the day we all gathered to say goodbye. But saying goodbye does not mean we will forget. You have become one of my inspirations in life. Just Knowing that you stood for what you believed in and followed your dreams even if it meant losing your life is something i have my greatest respects for. We met in Elemetary and in a sense i feel like i saw you grow up. I have visited your grave a few times since you past but have never left a rose, i dont know why, maybe its because it makes it more real, maybe i wasnt ready to accept that a friend of mine has gone at such a young age...but today i will.

You were always a good hearted person and im sure you make a great angel..

look over me from time to time.

"To a good friend/man who always wanted to be the best at any and everything that he did.Ramon and I were both class leaders in our police training class. When asked to do something, anything at all, Ramon would always be the first guy with his hand in the air willing to do any task that was asked of him. When we would train together we would always compete against eachother when doing our exercises.Ramon would always stop and help out another person if they were having trouble doing something, because thats just the type of man he was. When Ramon went to go sign up for the Marines he knew the dangers of what awaited him in the future. He signed anyways, because he knew that his service in the Marines would help better the lives of others. When I recieved the news of his passing I was greatly saddened and angered that he was no longer with us.When Ramon died in combat a little piece of me as well as others that trained with him died as well.We lost a great friend and he will always be remembered whenever we wake up in the morning and are able to walk around our neighborhood freely. Thanks to Ramon and thousands of others like him we can walk around feeling safe, knowing that men like him are protecting us from anything that is trying to harm us.To the Romero family I know that all the prayers and well wishes in the world cant bring Ramon back, but I will have him and all of you in my prayers every night.Just know that Ramon died for something that he deeply believed in and will always be remembered."

"From: Sgt Karl Clark Lippard’s book about Marines and the USMC:

“…reflect with me a moment on a statement made by the exiled Spartan King Demaratus to the Persian kind Xerxes before the battle of Thermopyle in 480 B.C. describing his beloved Spartans.

“When the Spartans fight singly they are as brave as any man, but when they fight together they are supreme above all. For though they are free men, they are not free in all respects; law is the master whom they fear, a great deal more than your subjects fear you. They do what the law commands and its command is always the same, not to flee in battle whatever the number of the enemy, but to stand and win, or die.”

To you the fallen Marine, you’ve given your life to a great and noble cause. You know hold a special place in the Marine Corp and history. Marine you have sacrificed for the greatest cause of all, Freedom. An entire country is now free for the first time in living memory and your name will forever be remember in Marine Corp history. In the years to follow as other countries in the Middle East start to follow the great freedom principle, it’ll be men like you will stand above and look down on a safer and more secure and peaceful world.
Thank you.
