"Michael was a much loved member of Lima Company whose last act was checking on fellow Marines in his vehicle. His laughter and resilience were greatly missed over the remaining months of our deployment. It is still hard to know he is not with us anymore. My sincere condolences to the family and I am sorry I did not do more to keep him safe."

"To the family and loved ones of Michael Postal,
I think of Michael often with fond memories. We served together in Camp Lejeune, NC and in Haiti 2004, during Operation SECURE TOMORROW. Michael served in my Headquarters Section. He helped to manage our command post from the Haitian National Palace. I was privileged to be his company commander. Michael held many collateral duties, to include serving as one of the few precious HMMWV drivers in the company, requiring his participation in 50% or more of our combat and security missions in Haiti. Needless to say, he remained very busy. Michael was an absolute workhorse, who feared nothing. He was honorable, trustworthy, faithful, and a fine Marine. I’m sure you know this already. I left the company after Haiti, but will never forget Marines from Lima Company finding me in Iraq to report his loss. The Marines loved Michael and certainly appreciated his courage, calm demeanor, and friendship. Although much time has passed, Michael remains on my mind, as you remain in my prayers. Please accept my sincere condolences and know that you raised a fine man."

"To Postals family, I would like to say, I am very sorry for your loss. Postal and I had plans to extend over there, we were going to swap over to regiment as a PSD. We never even thought of the fact one of us could die. One day I just came off patrol and he wasnt there anymore. There were many tears shed, that day by all of us. There are still many tears shed every time I think of him. He was one of the best men I will ever know. Carry on."
