"It totally broke my heart when I heard about SGT Murray. I served with Murray in 2/2 Golf Co. during his first tour in Iraq. Ive always had massive respect for Murray. I know he died doing what he truely loved and that was serving his country. My thoughts and constant prayers go out to his family, and ecspecially to his wife a children. I would like to say this to his children. Though you may have never really gotten to know your father well in your fews years of knowing him. I want you to know that he was a great man, willing to do anything for his family, friends and Marines. Let the memory of your father be a joyful one, because he would never want you to cry or feel pitty for him. Your father loved you very much and spoke of his children on countless ocassions. Your father is a true American HERO. Just know you will see his smiling face again one day, because he will be gaurding the gates of heaven as all Marines are destended to do. I will never forget you Murray. SEMPER FI MARINE !"

"During my first deployment with 2/2, I was assigned to a civil affairs group with Sgt. Murray. We were one of, if not the first unit in the theater to attempt to create a standalone civil affairs unit that was autonomous in operations. Usually they had a small contingent of CA guys that had to be escorted by CAT teams or other units in the battalion. We were a rag tag group of Marines pulled from all different parts of the battalion. A few from comms, a couple from motor T, a couple supply guys, a few grunts etc... and then Sgt. Murray. He was the glue that brought us together and helped facilitate the teamwork and fluid operations that was required for us to be outside the wire 6 or 7 days a week. Even though the M249-SAW was my TO weapon from the time I joined the battalion out of comm school, Sgt. Murray taught me the majority of what I know about machine gunning. I was proud to have him as a leader and mentor and it was a privilege to serve with him. He will not be forgotten."

"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com"

"I cannot believe this. Murray?!?!? I was on the internet trying to track down some of the marines I served with back in Golf CO 2/2. We were both in the same platoon but different section. Murray was a Machine Gunner and I was a 60mm Mortar Man. I respected and thought of him as a person to follow. I knew of his past service experiece with Ranger School and that made him a leader. He was a cool and collected Marine. I wish Sgt. Murray's family the best and just know that your Sgt was a patriot and will never be forgotten."

"Dear Murray Family,
I am so sorry for your dearest loss. Sgt. Murray has touched many people in different ways. He touched the lives of many American's and helped to change the future of Iraq. He was Sgt. McLemore's closest friend and will be missed immensely. I know in my heart that it was Sgt. Murray looking after Sgt. McLemore during these past 7 months. I just wanted to thank your family for the heroism and bravery of your son/husband. He will never be forgotten and will continue to look over his men to see that they make it home safely. Be proud of who he became. Many people will never equal the man that he became to be. Mine and Sgt. McLemore's thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I could never thank him enough for his ultimate sacrifice. Remember that he will live forever within you and will continue to look over you. God Bless America!!!!"

"May the angels keep you till morning.
May they guide you through the night.
May they comfort all your sorrows.
May they help you win the fight.

May they keep watch on your soul.
May they show you better ways.
May they guard you while you’re sleeping.
May they see you through your days.

May they show you new hopes.
May they still your every doubt.
May they calm your every fear.
May they hear you when you shout.

May the angels keep you till morning.
More that this I cannot pray.
And if the angels ever fail you.
Then may God be there that day.

Gone – but not forgotten.
Thank you for sharing your marine with us,
and for the sacrifice made by you and your family on our behalf.
