"Pablo and I were in the same platoon on the island. He tied my tie for our final dress inspection and I used it for all my inspections the four years I was in. I still have it, tied, resting in my uniform bag with that same perfect knot. Different MOS's took us on different paths, but I will never forget the short time we served together. To the Mayorga Family, my deepest condolences."
Michael McBroom of Cleveland, Ohio

"I met Pablo when he came to Scout Platoon with a few other boot Marines. I think we were all immediately impressed with his perfect balance of maturity, professionalism and drive offset by his constant smile and endless humor. I didn't know Pablo for long, but more than long enough to call him a Marine, a friend and a brother. I have memories of training with him that will last forever. We will never forget his inspirational story, or his amazing personality. To his family, I was there in Florida with the rest of Scouts who could make it to pay respects. Seeing his family and relatives drove home the stories he told us of them, and the road he paved to be who he had become. A great Marine and a great Man. Miss you big guy. Never forgotten"

"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry at times. I understand, in theory only, that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take your families and friends pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com
A hundred times a day, I remind myself that my inner and outer life depends on the labors of other men, living and dead, and I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am receiving. - Albert Einstein"

"To the spouse and children of Pablo V Mayorga,Cpl. My name is Thomas "Stormy" Matteo SSgt/0369 United States Marine-retired Six Time wounded Combat Veteran. I want you to know that it is my pleasure and honor to have met Paula Mayorga via a telephone converstaion this week. I know that we cannot ever understand a loss of one of our Marines; but we know only that they served with honor and courage. Pablo most likely was like most of us Marines, and lived each day to keep our fellow Marines safe to come home to our loved ones. You and your family must know that their are Marines out here who care about your family, no matter what the issue may be. I wish you Pablo a safe journey on your last patrol; and hope that you know that as long as there is one Marine standing, we will be here for your family. Semper fi young Cpl. I will look forward to meeting you one day."
