"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com

""To whom it may concern:
We are in the process of locating the families of our fallen heroes - those heroes who served in the military and gave their lives for our country. We, Calvary Chapel Santa Fe Springs, are hosting a community event at Santa Fe Springs High School on Sunday, May 24, 2009 to honor the "Fallen" as well as their families for the ultimate sacrifice they made. There will be music, food and a special ceremony/tribute. If you have any information that would aid us in locating these families, we can be reached at the following number - 562-906-0697. We desire to honor these heroes and their families by "recognizing them" and presenting them with an honorary token of our respect and gratitude. If you can help in any way, please call 562-906-0697 and ask for Pastor Greg Gutierrez. For more information regarding this event, log on to: www.ccsfs.com""

"I didn't know your Son and Brother personally, but he will forever be in my heart! Samuel is buried down the hill from my Father and Brother who are on the Buena Vista Hill, and now Samuel has a fellow soilder buried next to him (Trinidad Rodrigo Martinez-Luis). Today I again left flowers for both of them and will continue to do so as I remember my father and brother. They were both too young and their sacrifice will remain in my heart forever! God bless them!"

"With both of us being too young to enroll in elementary, Sam was the first friend I ever had. Now more than ever I wish I had kept in thouch with him as we were graduating. I remember during first and second-grade, that we would sneak out of our homes after school while our parents were at work to play the arcade machines at Circle K. And even if I do end up forgetting the times we shared together, I know that our childhood friendship has helped shape me into the person that I am. In that sense, he will always be a part of me and for that I am thankful."
Jack Lam of Santa Ana, California

"I was a friend of Samuel's in high school. We used to play video games after school. I wish we could still have that opportunity. Your son was a very nice man, the world will miss him."

"Please accept my deepest sympathy. My name is Clancy DeVries and I paint "Portraits of fallen heroes" and work with Kazeah Hancock as a participating artist on "Project Compassion". Please go to web sight www.heropaintings.com and go to the gallery page 3. I will paint a portrait of Samuel in oils to be passed on through the generations so as not to forget that he was an American Hero and will not be forgotten. I do not charge for this. I am a Korean Veteran and it is my honor to offer this for the sacrifices made not only by Samuel but his family as well. Please call me, my address and phone number is on the web sight. God bless you."

"To the family of Samuel S. Lee:
My father was in the Air Force for his entire 25-year career and he is now buried at Arlington National Cemetary. So, I have the deepest respect for those that served our country and particularly for those that died for its defense. In my own personal observance of V-E Day today I visited the Los Angeles National Cemetary. I happened to come upon two new headstones that looked out of place next to those much older. One of them was for Samuel. I stood at the foot of his gravesite filled with shock and sadness for the recent loss of his young life. Even though I am a complete stranger to you, I feel for your great loss and wanted you to know that he has touched my life, even after his passing. He will not be forgotten."
Christopher Coe of Los Angles
