"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com

"To the family of Cpl Lee, we extend our heartfelt condolences. We know he was a wonderful young man to give the ultimate sacrifice. Recently in Washington we met a family from CA. whose son had died on this day. If you are that family we wanted to tell you, we are still praying for you and yours. Our young men and women have given their all for us. We must stand strong and honor them, for they have given us the gift of FREEDOM. God Bless to all of you. "I read about Bum's death on this website. I feel deep sorrow for him and his family. Although I did not know him personally, I do feel some connection to him because he is a fellow Korean and Shipmate. I always remind myself that many young American and Korean soldiers, marines, and sailors fought and died in the Korean War so that my mother and father could live a life of freedom and be able to move to America. Part of my reason for joining the Navy was to repay my debts to those who have fallen in past conflicts. Now, Bum joins the ranks of those same servicemembers that fought so bravely in a faraway land so that someday, some family in Iraq, much like my mom and dad, could be as fortunate as I was to live a freer life. As a fellow Korean and servicemember, I am proud that Bum is now a part of that legacy. If you need someone to talk to or some one to help deal with your sorrow, please feel free to email me. jjhk001@msn.com"

"Dear Family and Friends of Bum Lee, I am so very sorry for your loss. I grew up in the Bay Area and just recently moved to Florida. I heard about Corporal Lees passing through my brother. My brother is a Viet Nam vet and has been working in Iraq trying to rebuild its communication system. He wrote a very moving tribute to your son as he sat next to his coffin on the flight from Baghdad to Kuwait. I would very much like to share his words with you however it is a lengthy two page message. I am not sure how to send it to you. If someone could email me, I would appreciate it. I do not want to intrude, but as a mother myself, I would find this letter of comfort worth reading...knowing that your son was not alone and treated with the upmost dignity and respect for a fallen hero. Thank-you, b.gant@comcast.net"
