"I met Jared's father today and my heart broke for him. His pain is just as raw today as it was on December 12th 2005. Ten years has done nothing to dull his pain. Being a Marine, I know his son gave his life, a sacrifice for his country. I am honored to have met Darel, hugged his neck, and shook his hand. I told him I would pray for him and his family, I pray for peace for his soul and comfort for his heart. That peace and comfort that only Jesus can provide. I have prayed for God to break my heart for what breaks His and I truly believe this was one of those moments. Know that your sacrifice means something. Your son is a hero. Thank you for sharing your pain with me. Semper Fidelis"

"To Jared’s Mom, Dad and Aunt:
Nice to have made your acquaintance during the Wall of Honor Ceremony today at the State Capitol. Thank you for sharing Jared’s picture and story with me. I have a pain in my heart for your loss, which can only be minor to the pain you feel. I visited Jared’s place on the Wall this afternoon and it is very distinguished. I also noticed the yellow roses you left in his memory. May you find comfort in your Faith, Family and Friends. Where Love enters a heart, it remains forever."
