"Hey buddy, you're in my thoughts again. I keep glancing back regretting that we never got closer. But in high school I had great times with you. Hell, you taught me how to smoke a cigar. We were part of a championship football team.
October 30th 2005, I picked up a Newsday. I was with the Stony Brook Rugby team, on our way to the division championships. I looked at that paper and saw your face... My heart dropped into my gut.
But I was captain and "General" (my nickname) of an undefeated team of underdogs. Rather than despair, I used you as my inspiration. I knew what you would want me to do...
So I dedicated my play that day to you, Jared. I spread the word around to the team. I remember my heart pumping for you during the National Anthem. The SUNY Maritime marines even formed ranks for it, which was significant to me. (The last time I ever saw you was in uniform--randomly, at Enterprise Rentals.)
I hit people during that game, Kremm Dog. Hard. Like you would do out of sheer toughness. Like a man possessed, I dominated opposition in most parts of the game. My team was firing on all cylinders, and we won a dramatic final-minute victory! When all was said and done we were crowned 2005 Div. III MetRugby champs. This I dedicated to you my man. Thank you so much.
You are missed."

It feels like yesterday we bumped into eachother on Camp Schwab in Okinawa when you were UDP with 2/6, after a time of not seeing eachother since we were in boot camp together. "For you JARED J:
"FLOWERS"
I gaze upon the flowers, what is it that I see? They are one of God's greatest gifts, they are here for you and me. The lovelier the flower, the more I hold it dear, but then sometimes I do forget the reason they are here. They grow on earth in millions, seeds whispering through the air. I look at them in wonder, how bright, how pure, how fair. I'll often look for hours without a thought of rest. The faces of these flowers, can show life at it's best. And then sometimes I take them, which often seems unfair, I'll prune and I'll arrange them with tender loving care. But soon they die and wither, no beauty left to see, so forever they must last as a lovely memory. And thus it is with people, be they great or be they small. Life is just God's Garden, we are His flowers one and all. He nurtures and He loves us and showers us with His grace, and even though there is great and small, He knows each flowers face. And when it is time to pick us, which often seems unfair, be sure that He will arrange us with tender loving care."
