"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com

"9/3/2007: I worn a bracelet on my wrist with Pat's name on it since returing home. It's been a constant reminder, especially on days when it just would not fit on my wrist just right. Today, I lost the bracelet and I feel so hollow. Not because of its loss, but it forced me to remember how much I missed Pat and of that day 2 1/2 years ago. He was a great man and I am so much better for knowing him."

"I didn't get to know Pat as well as I had hoped. I love him and his dear family that are left behind in this life. He is in my prayers everyday.
I miss that I didn't get to know him. It saddens me that he wasn't here when I married his son, Jason, last October. I know he was watching with joy from above.Mostly I miss him for my husbands sake who suffers terribly everyday at not having this dear man here with us anymore. May God Bless his wife, Linda, children: Jason, David, and Jennifer, his dear grandchildren, and all of his siblings and their families."

"I want everyone in the world to know what a great man my brother was. He was devoted to his family and to his country. He lost his life protecting his soldiers just as he said he would if it was necessary.
I treasure all the wonderful memories about him, especially the last time I saw him when two other brothers (Tony and Jerry), & I went to pick him up for his last visit home before deployment. We had such a great time visiting with him on the way home from Fort Polk. I will cherish that time forever. I just wish all of our other brothers and sisters could have been there too.
Thank you Pat for being such a great brother - you are a true hero! I miss you so much."
