"My name is Barb Shillinger and I am the WA State Coordinator for the Home of the Brave Quilt Project. I want to extend my condolences to Eric's family for their great loss. I, too, have lost a son and took on this project to comfort others, as I know their pain. We are making Eric's family a reproduction Civil War quilt in his honor and I would like to get in touch with his parents. Any help would be very much appreciated. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. God bless you and comfort you."

"To the family of Eric. My name is Dedi Noble, I am the mother of Sgt. Charles E. Matheny (Charlie). We lost Charlie February 18, 2006, and we are so sorry for your loss. I have walked in your pain and grieve with you. I have started attending the Gold Star Mothers in the area and encourage your family to get involved. They are a great source of help. Fortunately, most of the soldiers we have lost in Snohomish County have mostly been Marines. While the Marine Moms have made me feel very welcome I would still like to find a little sub group of Army Moms. There hasn't been many sources of support for the Army families up our way and I would like to get us all together. Please, if there is anything I can do just let me know. My heart and arms are open to your family. 425-210-0881."

It takes heroes to go over there and fight not just anyone can do it. God knows when its time for us to go home. Some are just earlier than others. Its not goodbye to him only so long because we will meet again. Till than he will forever be in my heart and memories."
