"Hey Leslie,
Its been 14 years since I was on the radio and heard the message of your convoy being hit. I remember our late night talks in the laundry room when I was new to the unit and a few months before we deployed. I've made to the senior ranks now and many of us have gone on to get promoted and have families. I often wonder what would it be had you gone on to came back with all of us. I still have so many questions after all these years. I still miss you so much. I didn't feel so wierd when I would talk to you and you telling me to keep my head up every time I saw you during our brief moments in Iraq. I just wanted you to know that I'm still going hard and pushing. I wish you were here just so we could clown around and talk like old times."

"Prayer for the Armed Forces:
Lord of Hosts, whose powers from everlasting to everlasting and whose name is above every name in heaven and earth: keep, we pray Thee, under Thy protecting care the Armed Forces of our country and all who serve therein. Defend them amid violence on land or sea or in the heavens, and grant that they may be a sure defense and a safeguard for the peoples of the United States; a security for such as come and go in peaceful and lawful pursuit. In time of peace keep them from evil, and in the day of conflict suffer not their courage to fail; that they may guard the American heritage against those who would destroy or straiten the liberties of government by the people and to the end that the blessings of religion and law may be preserved to posterity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen."

"I'm not much of a poet nor writter, but I had a strong affinity for Leslie. Her beautiful smile and quarky remarks always made the other soldiers more relaxed and comfortable. She was a great girl to talk to and an even better person to get to know. Me and Leslie were friends in AIT at FT. Leanordwood in late 03. I spoke with her on the phone in VA just months before her death. She told me she was getting deployed. She had a latent tone that was of obvious disappointment, but her tenacity during the conversation was that of her understanding that this was what it was to be a soldier. My first deployment from Nov04-Feb06 is when I heard of the incident, from another soldier from her platoon in AIT (Simmie Slay). I can honestly say that her spirit has always been there when I was in combat. From the long lonely cold pitch black nights to the days of pinnacle heat. My second deployement Nov06-Apr08 I used Leslie as a form of motivation to alleviate all the hairy situations my convoys encountered. Every IED that I had to face just gave my convoy another chance at diminishing that culprit that took her. I feel her death was unnecessary and it saddens me to speak of her as a form of a retaliation tool, but truth be known she will never be forgotten. Everlasting love to her family that without a doubt shined their beacon of love, compassion, and light on her during her life. It illumanted from her everyday I had the pleasure to know her. May every woman have the strength and character that Leslie possessed. God Bless. (913)226-5757"

"I would like to share a first hand perspective concerning the death of PFC Jackson. I was in C 115th and assigned to guard and recover Leslie's vehicle as soon as she received medivac. What many do not realize is that our (C115) LOGPAC was scheduled to pass the point where she was killed before the A115 convoy. It was a last minute decision by senior personnel to detour the C115 convoy to BDE HQ at Camp Ironhorse to check on someone’s reenlistment paperwork. It was at that gate where the two convoys passed each other. Within a few minutes the C115 convoy was on its way back to War Eagle following just behind the A115 convoy. On RTE PREDATORS, maybe five or six miles from our FOB, we came to a stop. My vehicle was motioned to move forward up to hers.
This occurred because the truck PFC Jackson was TC’ing was laden with water I believe, as mine was (a PLS ) and the largest and heaviest vehicle in her convoy. It was thought that my vehicle might be able to recover hers. After securing the site for some time, preparations were made by my driver and I to tow her truck...but it had received too much damage. An M88 (tank recovery vehicle) later attached a tow bar to the truck and pulled it to War Eagle. Since IED’s are detonated by people, someone was waiting for the biggest target, which was in this case Leslie's vehicle….which would have been mine and me…since she and I sat in the same seat respectively...our vehicles positioned the same in each convoy. PFC Jackson, may you Rest In Peace."

"Leslie,
Funny how things play out, huh? One minute we're on the bus laughing at something, and the next you're promoting me to Cadet Major, because I took your place. A void has definitely been left in your space in all of our hearts. I just recently lost someone else in my family. My cousin Eboni, who was merely 24 years old. This just seems unreal..yet, this is the job I chose to do every day. I'm married now, and wouldn't you know...I'm away from my wife. I know that you told me not to give up, and for you, I won't because you pushed me so hard. You saw the disappointment in my eyes when I told you I couldn't join the Army. You taught me to persevere, and never let any situation get greater than what I could handle. I took those words, and ran with them. Now I look back, and rethink about that day when you were taken away. Even when I was giving a speech in front of the student body, I could not hold back the tears. As I continue to move up in the ranks, I know that you are right there moving up with me. I love you and miss you. I always will.

"To all that have left postings, i would like to thank. I miss my little cuz. i remember when she couldnt even talk. a lot of people dont know, but leslie also has a half brother(also named leslie ) and 1 half sisters (mylexus), all from her fathers side of the family. i can remember talking to her about her decision to enter the war. i told her do what she feels is right. those conversations burden me everyday. the last time i talked to her was the day she was to be deployed to iraq from f. hood tx. i told her that i loved her and be careful. her half brother and i would get mail from her regularly.but the one that really crushed us was the one received the day of her funeral, and the first thing you read in the letter was "hey im still alive" she would write us about the bombing of the base she was on and she said that she was scared. but i never thought the worst of it. i would like to also thank MIMMS funeralhomew for the excellent work with her remains and all her friends for their support. neicy i miss you and you know big cuz aint no softy , but that whole situation broke me down to tears, and if i could turn back the hands of time i would definately put you back into all the lives that you touched. viola, i know we dont see much of each other, but my heart is and always will be with you. Although I knew your daughter for a short period of time (I met her when she first came to the 115th FSB barracks.), I could tell that she was a good person and was full of life. "PFC Jackson was a good person. I went through AIT Ft.Leonard Wood, MO a year ago. I saw her beautiful face in the glamour magazine and it reminded me of the last time I saw her on our off-post pass and she was all prettied up. She loved to dress up. PFC Jackson showed great courage. She was our platoon guide for Class 04T -Demon Knights. Every morning I wake up and see her picture and article on my dresser and it reminds me of how brave she was to go down there not knowing what was going to happen. I admire her for her dedication. I am stationed here in Mannheim, GE 69 Trans.Co and am now faced with deployment. I am headed to Iraq next month and I'm still in great shock but I know that Leslee is watching over me along with the Lord to guide me everyday through every convoy. The Lord has a plan for everyone of us and I guess this is mine. God Bless you Leslie and Thankyou

These brave soldiers gave their lives for the good of the world, for a cause greater than themselves. They are true heros. LEONARD WAHL of VALLEY STREAM NY
"Dear Leslie,
Thank you for sacrificing your life for our great country. People like you are the reason people like me live in freedom and comfort. Our country is never thankful enough to people like yourself who go the extra mile and do what is right in order to protect the good people in this world. You will always be remembered for having the courage to stand up and do what is right when others were content to sit at home and watch. Thank you for fighting for me."
