"Adam was a great guy. I know we weren't that close but were family. And that means something. Its hard looking back at pictures and seeing him in them knowing he's not here in body but I know he's looking over us in spirit. He went to war to protect us and I know he is protecting us by looking over us."

"Although I'm not a direct relative to Jonathan, I'm linked to him through family. This story effected me in a way that I never thought possible. This website is a wonderful way to remember Adam. To his wife and son, I hope your memories of him never die and I pray for your hurt to wear away until you can be happy again. I have heard so many good things about Adam, it makes me wish I had known him. It is a great loss to us all, to lose a wonderful man and a dedicated patriot to this country. For the family, you are my family too, and I will always keep you in my Heart."

"My deepest condolences to the family and friends of SPC. Jonathan Adam Hughes.

My heart aches for you and you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that the deep hurt you feel can be in some part eased by the feeling of great pride for Jonathan's valor and deep sense of patriotism.

To Jonathan I would say, you have made the ultimate sacrifice and did so willingly and without hesitation. Thank you so very much for defending my freedom. It means so much to me, to the people of NYC and to the entire nation. Thank you for your bravery and sacrifice in the service of the country that I love so very much. You will always be remembered as an American hero by my family.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Most Sincerely,

Pat"

"Adam was a close friend of mine throughout school. I can not even remember school without thinking of him. We may not have talked as much after we graduated, but Adam was the type that you didn't have to talk to very often to know that he was your friend, and no one ever wants to bury their friend. There has not been a day to pass that I don't think about Adam and feel the sense of loss and the pain that will be with me forever.
Adam was genuinely a good person, I can remember calling him my brother, and that is how I will ALWAYS remember him."
