"Gone but never forgotten… can’t believe it’s been 19 years pushing on 20 since God called you home. Great Warrior & an even better brother! We all miss you Battle! My children know your story. They know you’re a hero. And I’ll carry you with me til they box me up! #SemperParatus #ThunderhorseForLife"

"it has been 19 years since we received the call you were gone. The worst day of our lives. The pride we have for you is still in our hearts. They day you left, you were so excited to do something big. You said you were scared but at the same time you knew it was what you should do at that time. Thank you for providing us the peace to sleep at night. You had the soldier's heart, soldier's spirit, and a soldier's soul. There is no way we can thank you enough for sacrificing your today so that we can live in peace tomorrow. We love you. We remember."

"Pfc Hudson, everyday I think of you. You were the bravest Soldier I’ve known. I vividly remember the conversation we had that day, when the Lord called on you. I tell my kids about you, and the high speed Soldier you were that day and always. You were glad because you had just returned from leave. You went out of your way and helped me out with my radio. Thank you, your memory kept me going. Thank God for you crossing my path"

"Hudson, I'm sorry I took so long to message you and family. I know I was just a mechanic that fixed the Scout vehicle and an NCO that gave you all * when you came to maintenance but I still think of you. You died too young I am about to retire and believe you shaped me into a better man. I often think of the day before you were killed, I was working on replacing your hood on your M1025 and was talking mad * like we always did and the next day you were gone too soon. I miss you we may not have been close but I miss all the Soldiers that we lost in these wars. I just want to say it was an Honor to serve with you."

"Hey Chris, I thank God for the period of time that we all were allowed to spend with you. It was and honor and privilege to know you. I wish that I could have been your squad leader longer. You just had a way to cut through the b.s. and speak a simple truth that, at times, was brutally funny. The long talks we had about faith and science, dreams and goals, morals and friendship.....Time well spent. God had a reason for you going. Always had. Just so you all know, I was not a follower of Christ. I had no real faith, yet Chris made it easy to talk about it. Very welcoming. I may have been your leader but on this topic, you led and did it well. God will use all things for His Good. Even though it has been 9 years, I still look back and know that our talks were the kindling and your passing was the spark that God used to save me the following year. It's amazing to see how you have been a catalyst in the lives of others as well. We all get to see it on facebook and such. From the soldiers we were to the MEN that we are now. I thank God for you, for your family, your sacrifice and theirs. If we all could live like the example you followed in Christ, man was a change in the world?!?! As for Nathan Cutler, it's all true. Do more than look....Search Him out and we will again stand shoulder to shoulder, brothers united. Thank you Chris, thank you brothers, and most importantly, thank you LORD. Amen!

"03/21/2011 It is so hard to believe it has been 7 years ago today that you sacrificed your life for us.In ways it seems like yesterday in others an eternity.Life goes on but not like when you were here smiling ,joking ,loving ,caring. Gavin looks so much like you. Veronica is pretty like her mom and smart as she can be. Today we go to honor you once again,we know how proud you were to serve your country and be that which others feared to be a soldier. We love you more with each passing day ."

"Chris,
You are still missed. Your sacrifice is much appreciated. I will never forget the time we spent together, you were always a great friend. I'm sorry for your wife and children to have suffered such a great loss but their loss though painful is an honorable loss, you went out serving your country. You are still missed and thought of."

"Chris, I remember the night you died like it happened yesterday. Not a single day has gone by that I haven't relived it. I got to go back to where it happened later and its completely different now, barriers and guard towers everywhere. I only wonder, if they had been there then, maybe you wouldn't have died. I told my wife about you, the type of guy you were, and how you could make the worst situation a laugh riot. My favorite memories of you are when we shared a room in the barracks after Shane had gone off on the boat. I remember waking up for PT 45 minutes early, getting ready to go run, and then smoking and shooting the breeze in the time we had before we had to go to formation, talking about everything from current events to history to cartoons and video games.
I wish I had spent more time with you before we deployed. I, like everyone else, just assumed there would be time when we got back to hang out, and I took our friendship for granted.
I could go on at great length, but instead I'll just say I miss you, and honor your memory every day. I'll always remember you humor, and the "flying squirrel go!". I cant do it now, its still too painful, but one day I will visit your final resting place, and I hope to be able to tell your children about the man their father was.
Rest in Peace brother.
THUNDER!"

"Although I did not know you Chris, I had the pleasure of briefly knowing your family. You left behind a beautiful wife and two wonderful children that I know love and miss you. Few know the sacrifices made in the safeguarding of our country. Thank you for the sacrifices you have made and I pray that you will see your family again in heaven and get to hold Veronica and Gavin again."

"Can't believe its been 5 years. It seems like only yesterday we were rolling into baghdad as young kids who had no idea what war really was or what we were fully getting ourselves into. It didn't take long for us to find out. The amazing thing about it is how 18,19, and 20 year old kids rose to the occasion even after feeling the sting of battle and all the horrors it brings. Chris you are truly missed but not just from your family and close friends. You are missed deeply by all your brothers in 2-12 cav. You are the definition of a soldier. A real american hero. I pray that your family finds peace and i pray that we will meet up again at that big formation in the sky. Rest easy soldier, you completed your mission. God Bless you and your family. I will never forget you as long as i live.

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,800 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. "you taught me so many things that you i will never forget, you taught me to keep my chin up and even though your my uncle (adopted my grandma and grandpa hudson(raymond, sally)and biological cousin. i don't think of you as an uncle, or a cousin. i consider you a brother, you were so close to my heart. you non-replaceable, and no one could ever be so close to me than you, you inspired me to do so many things. i sit here and think of you and i don't cry about alot of things but when i think of you i can't help it. you were a friend to anybody you met. there are people that you can know for just a day and they're already a friend. sometimes i just watch your funeral video that shows pictures of you and memories.i catch myself sayin "WHO'S GOIN' CHICKEN HUNTIN" but theres nobody there to say "WE'S GOIN' CHICKEN HUNTIN" anymore but sometimes i hear your voice in my head. YOU ARE SPECIAL. YOU ARE GREAT. YOU ARE BRAVE. YOU ARE DEAR. YOU ARE NINJA. YOU ARE A JUGGALO. YOU ARE A CLOWN. YOU ARE SOLDIER. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, you are chris"

March 21, 2007

In Memory of PFC Christopher E.Hudson Second Squadron 12th Armored Calvary Regiment KIA March 21, 2004 Our beloved son gave his life for his country and freedom three years ago today. Please remember all of our other children fighting this war today with prayer. Dear God, Wilt Thou bless our children today? Wilt Thou give them strength and courage, clear vision, strength of heart for this day? Thou knowest each one by name. Wilt Thou safeguard their lives and in Thine own good time bring them home to us again? Hasten the day, O Lord, when war shall cease and peace shall again cover the earth. Wilt Thou comfort and cheer, each one, who may be discouraged or lonely? And, Heavenly Father, there may be some of our dearest who may this day make the supreme sacrifice of love and devotion for their country. Cheer such ones with Thy presence and receive them into Thy everlasting Kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen All of our love, Mom and Dad"

I remember he and i just going on drives to the store in the middle of the night just to hang out and bs. everytime we would drive anywhere more then likely we would listen to some ICP, Bob Marley, or Bone thugs. Come to think of it i think Chris was the only man I have met who knows all the words to almost every bone thugs song. I can truely say I miss him everyday. He was such a kind and forgiving man who will always have a place in my heart.

"Chris Hudson was a good friend of mine whom I miss dearly. He had stopped by his friends houses before he was going to return to duty and sadly when he came by my house I was not there to see him. I was very dissapointed. I wanted him to know how much we would all be praying for him and and for his safe return. When I found out of his passing, I was shocked to say the least. It made the fact that I was unable to tell him goodbye that much harder. Chris died for his country and I will always remeber him as a great friend and a true american hero.

Thank you, Christopher for your hard work and sacrifice. You have contributed to the freedom of a people in need. Your heroism has not gone unnoticed.

"Hudson was one of my best friends at Howe military school in Howe, Indiana.
One particular day he was acting up in class, making us all laugh in slience. Col. Edgecomb (Howe's greatest History teacher) had finally had enough and asked; "Mister Hudson. Would you like to go to the principals ofice?" without hesitation he replied "Not Today, my good man." And Col. Edgecomb himself had to turn toward the window just to hide/supress his smile. I'll always remember Hudson as the guy slightly wiser than the rest of us. On my last day at Howe, Hudson broke ranks (left the formation he was marching in) and asked why I was walking to the parkinglot out of uniform. I explained that I was going home before the school year ended. He said "well, here. Since we arent ever going to see each other again lets switch name tags." I left Howe military school labled Hudson. I know that when he got back to his barracks he put his real nametag back on because we were all issued two nametags. But the part that hurts is that somewhere in Indiana a widow is sifting through her fallen husband's belongings wondering what the nametag "Nilsen" means. I'd really like to tell her what a catastrophic loss Chris' death is to me, and many more people Hudson knew, that she might never meet."
Ed Nilsen
