"Just going through some pictures and I ran across one of my FDC section. I had the same job as my Brother in Arms SFC Howe we were just in different batteries in 1st Battalion 5th Field Artillery with 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One).
We deployed from Ft Riley in 2003 and had many good times together. We were same age, kids were about the same and we were unstoppable at being the best FDC Chiefs ever....you taught me alot and I shared a couple tricks myself but you played a major part in my career.
I thought it was great that you were leaving Ar Ramadi/ Fallujah but then I was shocked when I heard that Ft Drum was putting u right back into hell. My heart was crushed when I heard that a hero was robbed of his life and his family and soldiers lost him. I put all of my effort into counterfire missions to aim my revenge at anyone I could on the enemy side.....I will always think of you any time I see anything that reminds me of our Job or any areas that we shared in good times and bad. I Love You Brother...
End Of Mission!"

"It's Memorial Day weekend 2015. Ironically, the Army officially retired me, effective today. Reading about your plans when you retired and the things you, your Dad and the rest of your family wanted to do in the future makes me feel really fortunate, yet somewhat guilty. I feel fortunate to have known you for the short time I served with you. I relive that day often. One things for sure, you had many people who admired and and loved you. In that respect, you had a rich, if short life. I can make two promises. 1) I live everyday in the fullest, since I had the gift to return home safe, I owe that to you and the others who never came home. 2) I will never forget you or your family, for the sacrifice you all made. IF I could, I would reach out personally to each of your family members. I hope this reaches some of those who love and miss you. I think of you all often."

"You know it has been 2 yrs. today that you where taken from me and your family and this is the hardest thing that I have ever had to do. I found this online for you and thought it sums up just how I feel.

A million times I've needed you
A million times I've cried
If love could have saved you dear
You never would have died
Things we feel so deeply
Are the hardest things to say
My dearest Casey I love you
In a very speacial way
If I could have one lifetime wish
One dream that could come true
I'd pray to God with all my heart
For yesterday and you.

I miss you so much Casey and still pray to God that this is just a nightmare and I'll soon wake up. Please know that you will forever have my heart and soul.

Your forever loving wife,

"My loving husband,
Casey it has been 1 yr. since I got that knock on the door that destroyed our lives and I have not stopped thinking of you or wishing that you where by my side. I wrote this poem for you...

I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too
I think of you in silence, I often speak your name
All I have now are memorizes and your picture in a frame
Your memory is my keepsake which I'll never part
God has you in his keeping, but I have you forever in my heart...

I want you to know my love that I think of you every day and I thank God for letting me love you every day. I miss you so very much and I will see you soon.

Love always your forever loving wife,
Angela Howe"
Angela Howe of New York

"To All
I spent the better part of three years hanging with and being apart of the Howe family while we were stationed in Hawaii. I was a single soldier and his family was mine, So he made me feel. To tell the closeness I had with him and his family would take for ever but I will say this. I was there when he was engaged, hitched, birth, and baptism of his first child . I checked on his family while he was in PLDC and made sure they were safe. But most of all I have woke up on his couch many times not recalling how I got there(haha) but always knowing if I as out with the Howe’s I need not worry about getting home safe. Saying this, I am not special but just one of many single soldiers that Casey took care of like brothers reared in the same dwelling.
I have picture of (at the time) Cpl Howe laying in the woods at FT. Polk JRTC on a medic litter with a manual in his hands ruck under his head and a huge grin on his face while looking back at me over his shoulder. The picture was taken to prove you can’t trust the FDC. You see I was up for about two days and while on patrol I “acquired” and hide the litter to sleep on when they call for down time(a luxury to any one in the know).
Making my way to the litter I started to laugh when I heard his voice say “You taka my couch, I taka you litter” in a god father kinda accent. My point is he always could make you laugh even when it was the last thing you wanted to do. He touch the hearts of many. The kindest man I ever knew.
Freedom lost a Hero but his Memory will never be forgotten.
God bless him and his family, keep them safe and his memory strong.
You will find him at the right hand of the almighty(or in his rack)."
SSG Luther G. Lewis of Newnan, GA

"To the Howe family, I did not know Casey but am a good friend of his Uncle Freds. Fred has always spoken highly of Casey and I know he is missed by MANY MANY people who knew and loved him. May god be with you all."

"My prayers go out to all who were close to Casey Howe.

I was deeply saddened when I got the e mail and then heard it on the radio the following day.

I met Casey while attending Suomi College up in the U P. We both went the first year and then he joined the service the following year. He was a sweet guy. It's been years since I've seen or spoken to him, or even his family. He will always be remembered.

I remember when Casey first went in and came home on leave, we were driving in the car. Casey flipped through the radio stations and I would start singing along with the songs....I still remember him saying...."Is there a song you don't know?"

CASEY, YOU WILL BE MISSED and my prayeres go out to you all."

"Rick, Cindy, and family. I wish there was something I could say or do that would take away some of the sorrow I know you're feeling. I don't believe I ever met Casey but from what I hear from others he was a wonderful person. Just reading some of the notes left on this site show how much he was loved - even by those not knowing him personally but only as a soldier of the United States. Take pride in the man that he was, the fact that he choose to serve his country, and take comfort that others will remember him and you in our prayers. I have the utmost respect and admiration for all service men & women and the sacrifices they make for our country."

"Casey was one of the good ol' boys. I've had the chance to have a lot of fun with him throughout the years. From the time I went to Ft Hood and picked him up a couple of times to go out and uproot the town to the times when we were kids playing hide and seek in the middle of the night. He dated my best friend years ago...what an experience! :-) I was lucky enough to have a dance with him at my wedding which I believe is on tape and his sister Wendy was one of my brides maids...wow the memories I have I will treasure forever. I will miss you and I can't wait to see you again. All my love, your cousin Rachelle"
