"To the Family and Friends of Raymond Hill... In honor of Raymond...
October 2013 I went on vacation to Maui and while on Maui I learned we would have the experience of a full moon. I headed to Kaanapali Beach @ 5:30am to photograph the full moon setting over the ocean and noticed a man doing Tai Chi. I didn't want to disturb him as the anchored sail boat that I wanted in my picture was directly aligned with the reflection of the moon where he was excercising. The man recognized what I was trying to do and suggested that I move his direction so I could align the sail boat with the moon's reflection in the water and in the sand. This was a magnificiant sight as the shades of pink, lavendar and blue blended perfectly in early morning Maui sky.

We started a conversation and he learned that I was from Turlock and I learned that he was the Military Chaplin that attended your son's funeral. He told me that he was the last person to see Raymond's face prior to his trip home. He recalled the outpouring of love and recognition for Raymond and said he had never seen anything like this before and he recalled the 2005 event with great detail.

The Chaplin spent time in Iraq and he is suffering from PTSD and has been instructed by his doctor to take two years off from work to work through this battle. He shared with me that he was passing out daily, had his drivers license taken away at one time and was using Tia Chi and journaling to work through the emotions and trama of the PTSD. He is a Chaplin at a church in Southern California. I cannot recall his name and wish I could. He was a wonderful man and spoke w/such high regard on behalf of Raymond.

Some stories are never shared - I thought you would like to know on this Veteran's Day that Raymond was remembered for his ultimate sacrifice and how he has touched this Chaplin. Raymond has now touched me on behalf of the Chaplin.

I have two nephews that have recently entered into the military (Jan 2013)- one is a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton and the other is on a nuclear sub out of the State of Washington. I love these boys with all my heart and am so very proud of them and their choice to serve. They are already brave!

Sending prayers to Raymond's parents, wife, daughters, family and friends and to all of our Veteran's that gave their all.

May love surround you all!"

"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com
