"Shaker was in my platoon and section while in Iraq, we lived in the same room, bunked together, traded things, food and stories. I look at our videos together and remember a person I will always miss. He was proud to be a member of the Cav and he was a great troop. To this day, I have his last email to sent to me saved to remind me to always take care of my soldiers, to his family your son is never forgotten."

"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com

"I knew you in high school. You and your brother used to like to joke around. Now you are gone. It is crazy. I was there, in the same war that you lost your life in. I made it home safely. I still cannot believe that you did not. I hope no one takes for granted the things that you gave your life for. The war has changed everyone, in so many ways. I will always remember you, as you were when I knew you. Rest In Peace, Soldier. & God Bless your family.Stand Tall In Heaven, Shaker."

"To the Family of Shaker T. Guy

I'm sorry for your loss and I will never forget how I felt when I heard the news. It didn't seem real to me and still doesn't. I served with "Guy" while being part of Alpha Troop 1/18th Cav. in Pomona, CA. During that time, I had the pleasure of serving with him in Utah during our deployment in 2003. I was a Sergeant of his and I have to say he always had a way of putting a smile on my face. I will always remember his love of the Denver Broncos and how we all use to make fun of eachothers football teams. I will always remember him and I'm grateful for his sacrafice. R.I.P Guy!"

"Dearest Mrs. Sanguinette,
I am deeply sorry about what has happened. I pray that our Heavenly Father will give you peace in your heart and the serenity to live life joyfully. I will always remember Shakere's playfull self, always driving that van around and singing as if nobody was looking. Shakere strived to succeed taking advantage of the abilites he was blessed with and always made the best of the opportunities that came about. Our town of Pomona has lost one of its finest and I am so very proud of to have known him. He shrugged off the apathy that is so evident in the people of our city and the light he carried showed us that it is one thing to act brave but to actually be courageous... that is a legacy that is more honorable and will never be forgotten by me. God Bless you and rest in peace my fellow red devil."
Oscar Schwenke of San Jose, CA
