"I miss you and I still think of you often. Rest peacefully my Friend..."
Celeste Holley of Detroit, Michigan

"Memorial Day has come again. Though I've written to you only on Memorial Day, I often have you in my thoughts. I wish this war never happened. I wish people didn't have to die for meaningless causes anymore. Life is so short, so precious and to think of your passing is devastating to me as it was way too early. I've always heard that God doesn't make mistakes, but every single life lost to these wars are a universal mistake. My words are much different this time around. My feelings are the same though. Rest In Paradise my friend. You'll remain alive and well in my memories"
SSG Robert Smith of Baltimore, Md.

"I always remember talking smack with you in 03 about Southwestern vs. Forrest Park and who was better. What were the odds of us, from Baltimore, rival ROTC programs working together in Kuwait? Thinking about you this Memorial Day Green! My deepest heartfelt wishes go out to your family."
SSG Robert Smith, 1398th DDSB of Glen Burnie, MD

"Mr. And Mrs. Green, Tocarra and I began 9th grade together at Forest Park. We met in orientation. Afterwards we realized we had ALL the same classes together including JROTC. A lot of people knew us as best friends hanging together all through 9th and 10th grade. Once I left Forest Park at the end of 10th grade Tocarra and I stayed in contact. We hung out together. She use to LOVE to skate. I remember when she got her first car! She loved riding around in it and making alterations to it. When Tocarra signed up for the Army I was not surprised. Tocarra wanted nothing more than to walked in the same steps as that of Gary and she wanted her dad to be proud of her. Her mom picked us up from a few meets and a parade we did once. I remember crying the WHOLE way home my feet hurt so bad. Tocarra made such and imprint on my life as a friend. NO ONE couldve been more genuine! It hurt SO badly to learn of passing. Such a young beautiful soul. Tocarra purpose was clearly not meant for this earth. She had such promise and was SO strong! She deserved much better than this world has to offer. I appreciate and live with the lessons I have learned JUST being her friend. Tocarra will NEVER be forgotten and I feel blessed to have experience such a vibrant life. Mr. And Mrs. Green I can only hope u have gained such a vivid understanding of what this child u raised has accomplished and had become in such a short lived life. She was VERY special and for that I would like to thank you!"

"Toccara was my Platoon Guide during AIT back in 2003. She was fair, and well liked by everyone in the platoon. Green's energy, motivation, and dedication was very much appreciated. I learned of her death just the other day after running into another soldier that was in AIT with us. I'm deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She was an outstanding soldier and friend."

"When it came to Forest Park ROTC from 1996-2000, you could not help but know about Toccara Green. She was one of the top members. Drill Team, Leadership Weekend; She did it all. Among the things I'll remember about Toccara was her friendliness, the support she given and, her dedication and contributions to her friends. It hit me hard when I heard of her death in Iraq but, two of my former classmates in a two week timespan (Sgt. Damion Campbell?) That was a personally a tough time for me. I'm going to miss them and I know the Lord's welcomed them into his kingdom where there is only peace, love and joy. I'm always going to remember the two of them even though I was shy and usually chickened out on ROTC's activities. They will be remembered as friends, inspiration for tommorrow's youth and as Heroes. Rest In Peace Toccara and Damion! You're in God's Kingdom Now!"
Wayne Alexander Mack II of Pasadena, Maryland

"I was attached to the 57th from a National Guard from Maryland. I was placed on tire detail with Spc Green it was a typical all nighter. Although I didn't know where Spc Green was from we laugh and worked hard and complete the task at hand, I found out later that we were from the same area. She is a soul that will be missed I carry the program from her service held at Al Asad and the programs from all of the soldiers lost during our mission. I'm truley sorry for your loss. May god bless you."
SGT Crawford (retired) of Aberdeen MD

"TEE WAS TRULY A STRONG AND COURAGEOUS WOMAN. I JUST SIT AND THINK ABOUT BACK WHEN WE WERE GROEING UP AND WE USED TO SIT ON YOUR PORCH AND PLAY WITH YOUR CAT. EVEN THOUGH OUR HIGH SCHOOL JROTC TEAMS WERE TOP COMPETITORS, WE ALWAYS REMAINED FRIENDS. WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS THE HURT THAT I FEEL THAT YOU ARE GONE BUT KNOWING THAT YOU LIVED YOUR DREAMS AND ARE SITTING IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD MAKES ME PROUD TO HAVE BEEN YOUR FRIEND. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN SHORTY...

"Dear Mr. and Mrs. Green, My name is Spc Amy Brown I want to say I am sorry for the loss of great soldier, I served with Green in Iraq and in Kuwait we were in the same platoon and same squad, we were the only two girls in our squad, she was a great person. She will always be in my heart no matter what happens. I took it pretty hard over seas when they told me she was gone and still am taking it hard, she ment a lot to me. I find myself starring into the sky and talking to her like she is sitting right beside, I know she is looking over me and always will. She talked real highly of all of her family and was really proud of all her accomplishments. I want to say again I am sorry she is gone.

"I did not know Toccara, but I knew a lot of kids like her. I was a guidance counselor at another Baltimore high school when she was a student at Forest Park. I often wonder what happened to all the kids who graduated and joined the military. So many of them wanted to get money for college, to learn a skill, to travel and see the world, to do something good and important. My heart just breaks for Toccara's family and all the other families who have lost a promising young life. No words can make them feel better, but they should know that many people they will never meet think of them every day and remember them in their prayers every night."
Margaret Drummond of Springfield VA

"Toccara,
I know we did not grow up together but we have shared some good as well as trying times ie..BASIC TRAINING. It truely broke my heart when another member of our so called click from basic called me to inform me of your passing. I cried and cried. Toccara you were so kind, so sweet, and you loved the LORD... I know that you loved the military and enjoyed serving our country and I admired you for that. You have always been positive and kind hearted, whether leading us in prayer, sharing your parents with me on family day , or just lending me bed sheets when i had none. I have nothing but love and respect for you. And to your mother, father and your brother; she was a wonderful person. I am sorry for your lost. My home chruch and I are praying for you. I love you and thank you for giving me another sister. She will be missed and forever loved. God Bless You and Take Care."

"I knew Toccora in high school and was deeply saddened to learn of her death. She was a beautiful person on the inside and out and had an outgoing, cheerful personality and always had a joke to tell. I wasn't aware that she was in the military but it didn't surprise me because she was a dedicated rotc cadet and drill team commander and I'm sure those positive attribute followed her to the army. I'm sad to see you go but I know that you are in heaven watching over us. You'll be missed. RIP"
Basilio Thrasher of Baltimore, MD USA

"My heart goes out to the family and friends of this very brave girl, a hero we all appreciate for giving herself that we may live free. I heard about her from the lips of her Father while he was recalling the details at a place of business to someone he knew. At this point I had not personally been linked to anyone who felt this close a loss during the war. My heart broke and I sit here crying as I researched for the details of this lovely heros dedication and now seeing she had a heart so big it touched many brings her to me. I deeply feel for those who have lost her presence and will miss her because she is gone from this plane. I know she is smiling from above looking down knowing she did her best and did what she had to do. Her life and her contribution lives on in those she touched, loved and shared herself for. She is alive in their hearts and minds and even in those of us who personally never knew her, she is alive to us because of all she gave! Lord, bless this family with peace and thank you Toccara for giving to those you never met that we all might be free. A dedicated and loving hero you will always be in our hearts! Knowing life goes on beyond what we see gives those of us left here behind Peace that Passes all our Understanding.... Thank you for giving the greatest gift of all...."LOVE" even for those you never knew."
Debbie & Terry Masemore of Columbia, MD

"This is one of the saddest searches I have ever had to do. My sister and Toccara were great friends since the age of 5. When ever I think of her it is hard to not think of "that funny little girl" from down the street. I pray that soon all of this violence will come to an end to help Toccara and her family have closure by knowing her death was for a great purpose. God Bless and Mr. Garry, Ms. Yvonne, and Garry you are all in my deepest prayers"

"To the family and friends of Toccara R. Green. My daughter is in the same area of Iraq that Toccara was at. She told me of her death. She had talked to her a few times. I felt and still feel a real loss for you. I am so sorry words cant express how I feel. But I dont want to take away the fact that she is a TRUE hero. I want to thank you for raising a wonderful woman that gave her life for my freedom."

"Although I have not seen or talked to Tocorra since we graduated from Forest Park, her death has affected me gravely. Every time the news announces a soldier’s death, I always look to make sure it’s not someone I know. As soon as they posted Tocorra’s picture my heart shred to pieces.

Tocorra,

I thank you for fighting for me! I thank you for protecting me! I thank you for being my hero! I promise you I will not let your bravery be forgotten. I will do all in my power to make sure everyone knows of your courage. Tocorra, what you have done means the world to me! And again, I thank you!! You will always be my HERO!"
