"10 June 2014,
SSG Gourley, it seems just like yesterday you were sitting in my office on the FOB and I was speaking to Mrs. Gourley on the phone trying to get your re enlistment paperwork together so you could reenlist. All of a sudden the news hit and just like that you were gone. I can't explain to you the disbelief that is still in my heart today. Your children, your wife, your family my prayers go out to them each and every day. You were truly a brave Soldier and it was an honor for me to serve with you in war. Now I just want to say, "Thank You SSG Gourley," thank you for your ultimate sacrifice for our nation. You served with honor and distinction. Your legacy does still live on in the hearts of many. Rest in peace battle!"
