"Chris, it is coming up on 5 years since that IED took you away, and I found myself thinking of you here in Kuwait. Although I didn't know you well I was with you at the end, and every day I wish I could have done more for you. Out of this regret comes a resolve to do everything that I can to ensure that the current bunch of bright young men and women going into Iraq with me won't have to go through the pain that you and your family did. May God bless your family and may you and Lavinia rest in peace."
SGT Paul Musa of Baghdad, Iraq

Although I barely knew you, your life and death have shaped my resolve to do everything humanly possible to protect this new bunch of youngsters. May God bless your family and may you and Lavinia rest in peace."

"Chris, it's been over three years since we lost you, and I'm ashamed to say that I've forgotten when exactly it was I last saw you face-to-face. I'd like to think it was at Grandma & Grandpa's house at Thanksgiving '03.
Whether it was or not, I'll always cherish those holidays with everyone gathered in that tiny living room, 80 degrees, Jesse parked at the table, football in the street... it's just not the same without you still.
Every time I drive through Winooski, I think of growing up and riding bikes everywhere with you, playing Sega or whatever the heck it was, listening to The Cars, Queen, Yes, all the music nobody else liked.
I remember the day my dad told me you were lost in Iraq. For some reason, I kind of shoved it aside. I think I was too shocked and too much in denial to grieve. I was running late for a date with a girl I liked, and I had to pick her up before our movie started in Williston. Halfway there, it hit me that you were gone. I kind of zoned out, kept my foot on the gas, and tuned her out, whatever she was talking about. Next thing I know, I see blue lights in the rear view mirror, and I get a ticket for going 87 in a 65. I was that far out of it, I couldn't believe my cousin - no, one of my very best friends - was gone. He had a young wife, a month left before graduation, and an insanely bright future ahead of him.
And it was all gone.
I remember your funeral, and later Lavi's, and I remember thinking how unfair all of this was for your mom, my aunt, my mother's best friend, Vicki. I was hurting, but I wondered how she could continue to live, or how she could even want to. But I know that it's because she's strong, and she had the best years of her life with you, something she can always hold on to. You touched so many people, Chris.
We all love you."

Give my love to Lavi.

"I remember taking turns holding the Gideon at final formations at drill. I took the photo off the wall that was taken on the very first Chamberlains charge during AT 2000. "To the famly of Chris D. Gelineau -
I'm a soldier from Fort Drum, NY who had just come back from Iraq when I met some of the soldiers of the 133rd before they left for their tour. I was proud to have served with your son and even though I did not meet him personally, being from Maine as well, I will always remember and honor my fellow soldier and my fellow statesman. He will NOT be forgotten."

Love, Mom"

"To the family of Chris: The sacrifice your son has made will not be forgotten. I can not begin to know your pain. I wear a bracelet I got from herobracelet.org that bears his name. I will not remove it from my arm until we are completely out of Iraq as a reminder of the sacrifice he and so many others have made. It is my way to honor him and every one of our troops. Whenever people ask about the bracelet I let them know about him and what he has done for us."
Anna of Dunedin, FL
"Chris, thanks for installing Battlefield 1942 on my laptop computer! Those winter nights at Fort Drum playing that dumb game were a great distraction! I grew tired of the game ages ago,but every time I go to uninstall it I think of how you were the one to put it on for me, and I keep it instead. I think my odd software "memorial" to you is fitting. You and your wife will always be in my memory. "To the Last Man"."
