The military has had a profound effect on my life, as my parents got married forty years ago after meeting one another just three weeks prior while serving in the military. They are still married today. I have great respect for the individuals who choose the armed forces for their life's work and if I weren't too old myself, I would join today. It has always been a regret of mine. The military gave my family countless opportunities and afforded my parents the ability to do so much. We lived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from 1979-1983 and I can appreciate the sacrifices Mr. Fonseca made in so many ways. I also want to say that the Fonseca family is one that I will never forget. Their loss is overwhelming and I am saddened that they are having to deal with this tragedy. I know that walking with the families I serve through their grief helps and I was honored especially today to be able to do that.
