"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com

"Dear Sergio,
I saw your gravesite today as I was visiting family members interred at Forest Lawn. I have seen it a couple of times before and it always catches my eye. I stopped and offered up a prayer to you, your family, and the nation you died defending. I will bring flowers to share soon."

R.I.P. Sergio Escobar, tu Tio y Amigo. Juan M. Ortiz"

"My Inspiration, although younger, to join the Marines. I remeber him mostly from our ROTC days in High School and How even though he wasn't a high ranking cadet he gave his all. That Motivated me after learning of his death and prompted me to stop procrastinating. I joined. I thank him for seeing me safely through boot and helping me through the rough times. I am honored every 9th of October to visit his Gravesite and Salute this Fallen Hero. Semper Fi

"Mr. and Mrs. Escobar

My name is Jordan Rogers and I am one of the Marines who was in the Humvee with Escobar when it was hit. I was Escobar's Team Leader and was directly in charge of him. He was a very brave Marine and would never give up under any circumstances. I don't know if its any consolance, but Sergio was taken quickly and I believe without pain. I think that he would want you to know that he was never scared and I would like you to know that he performed his job better than any Marine in my Fire Team. My thoughts and prayers are with you."

"Sergio was my brothers step son and he always used to call me his little uncle because i am smaller than him, I am 15, we used to live together we always used to hang out together and talk so after a wile i treated him like my brother after he moved away I didn’t see him that much even though he was only a few blocks a way but he was in high school and I was in elementary but then I moved 1 street away from him and I would always go to his house and we would hangout I always had a brotherly bond with him and always wanted to be like him when I found out that he died I was crushed at first I was depressed and didn’t want to believe it but after a few days it set in and I knew he had died honorably and doing some thing good so I didn’t hurt as much any more. He is the biggest inspiration in my life and I will be proud of him till the day I die.
Sergio loved classic low riders and in his honor I am going to build him one and display it somehow
I love u Sergio stay up
