"Robert was my first roommate when I got to Fort Polk and I babysat for his and Brandy's daughter a few times before we deployed together. I was in the lead convoy that had to come back for him afterward and escort the vechile he passed away in back accross the border. He was a great friend, outstanding soldier, but above all, a brother I never had. I have missed him and wished I could have seen him one more time."

"Thank you everyone for your kind words. We miss him so much. He was my little brother and a best friend. So many say he was a kind person, loving and funny. These are my memories as well as the fights and objects thrown when he didn't get his way, the flying side kick through the front door because he didn't want to take out the trash. The memories made while growing up. He was one of 6, the fourth and we are proud to say he is ours! He may be with Christ but he will forever be my brother and I look forward to meeting with him again in heaven when it is my time to see God's glory, and not a second before!"

Robert was such a sweet guy. I read that he had a wife and a baby girl. I am sorry for his passing and to his family for your loss of, what I am sure he was, a great man.

"To the family of Robert DuSang,
On 25 November 2008 at 11:00 AM the 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment and the 2d Cavalry Association will gather in Vilseck, Germany, to commemorate a monument to our fallen brothers from Operation Iraqi Freedom. SPC Robert DuSang will be honored on that day. His name will be engraved on the face of a permanent black marble monument along with his fallen comrades. The monument will be located in a park of 50 trees which will form a living memorial to these fine young Soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation.
On that date and at that ceremony we will also honor the families of these Soldiers. We truly hope that the families can participate in the ceremony. It is the wish of the 2d Cavalry Association and the 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment to place a personalized flag case and flag for each of these fallen heroes in the hands of a family member.
We are requesting that these families contact us via email at deddygetty1@comcast.net to learn more about the ceremony and how they can participate.

"Dusang was a humble man and a good soldier. The last time I saw him was the day before he died. We were scooping trash out of the back of a trailer with socks on our hands for gloves. I guess that says alot about him, he was ready to do anything that his country asked no matter how great or small the sacrifice. I will always remember the fifteen long months he served with me in Iraq, and the cruel timing of his death, not five miles from the Kuwaiti border on the road home. May he know the peace in heaven which he could not find on this earth."
SPC Ronald G. Baker of Ft. Polk, LA
