"Kyle, I thought of you today while remembering our days in high school. It’s been 18 years since I saw you. Can’t believe how much time has gone by. My last memory of you is training with Eric and I after school in that strength and conditioning program we created. You are a badass and always will be. Stay strong up there. We’ll all see you soon."

"I can't believe how many years have gone by since you were taken from those who loved you most. No one has come close to the best friend and little brother you were like to me. No one ever will. All my memories of you; Valentines Day, rides to and from school, climbing my roof late one night to come talk, my sweet 16 birthday party, the one song that will always be ours and so many more memories. My family misses you too. Every happy moment in my life is met with sadness because you're not there to witness it. I miss you Kyle, Heaven doesn't know how lucky it is to have you there. Rest in peace angel XOXO"

"Hey Kyle, its your little brother Jeffrey. I'm 16 now and everyday think about what i can do to be like you. I dont remember anything about you other than stories told to me and picturs of you because you moved back to Cali when i was so young. I know you lived a great life and that you were one of a kind. Mom says i look more like you everyday and i have your smile that everyone seemed to love. I thank you for your service to the country and i know that being a Marine is all you ever dreamed of doing. Thank you Mark and the Johnson family for raising my brother to be such a fine man. I love you more than you ever know and i regret not ever talking to you on the phone when i had the chance. Thank you agian for serving our country and you are and will always be my hero forever. I hope to be able to grow up to be a man like you that earned so much respect from everyone. Love you lots Kyle."

"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. "I will never forget the day I met you. You were walking home from Pine Valley "Penetentary" with Justin B. and started to joke with him loudly about the girl walking in front of you. I was that girl who couldn't resist your bait. Your smile can brighten the darkest of days, and it was that smile that captivated me. All of us who knew you were lucky to have such a postive being in our lives. You have done us proud. I will always remember you as the boy I met that day, and thank God that you grew into the Man and Marine who sacrificed himself for the benefit of all. Thank you Kyle, for serving us, our nation, and keeping us free. You are forever loved, and forever appreciated as our hero. Nostrovia."

"It has been over four years and I finally had the nerve to google your name. When I left you at the forty I didn't know what life had in store. When they called me and told me you had passed, I just gave birth to Lilly. She was sleeping, I walked in kissed her on the head and went to my knees.
Since you passed I have flown my flag every day...following all of those silly rituals you do with something so sacred. I even installed TWO flood light's to illuminate her at night. It is out my front door witch is made of glass, everytime I walk past it and see it I thank you and think of you. Latley I have taken it down, and only display it on calander day's...it was getting to hard.
But I learned other silly things like what each fold stands for when a soldier is buried and some of the dirty lingo you marines like to talk. I love you, and I fight for your honor every day.
I read for the kids at the library, and on flag days and memorial days and patriotic days we do american crafts, then I take them to the local VFW and they hang them. I do that for you and your family.
We made these american flags for the 4th of july and used marshmellows as the stars. I kept trying to say keep it sacred, dont eat the marshmellows, but you know some were eaten. I want your family to know there is someoneover here honoring you everyday. I can't wait to see you again."

"Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay that day,
to laugh, to love, to work or play.
Task undone must stay that way.
I found peace at the close of the day.
If my parting left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with time of sorrow.
I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one touched.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
but don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me.
God wanted me now, He set me free!"

"I am going along my daily routine of driving to work, and as I was driving a truck was in front of me that caught my eye. The tailgate was decorated in memory of a fallen soldier and it touched my heart in such a way that I had to thank whoever was driving. I lost someone very dear to me and it's amazingly comforting to know that there are people like me who never forget. So to whoever was driving a white pickup on 24 at about 5:45 on 9/27...THANK YOU!!! As hard as it is at times, smile. And know that Kyle is always smiling down at you!"

"Where do I begin? I only knew Kyle for a short period but during that time he touched my life forever. Kyle and my husband became best friends (brothers) during boot camp. At that time I only knew Kyle through my husband's letters. He came to visit us in Texas after boot camp and at Thanksgiving. Instantly he became apart of our family too!
Kyle and I spent many nights talking on the phone or during his visit getting to know each other. Not only was he brothers with my husband but he was my brother, too! I believe that he watches over us all. When my husband returned home from Iraq last year it was a very rainy morning. He told me that as they went through the north gate of Camp Pendleton he asked "Crow" (as we call him) to give him a blue sky and not let it rain on the families waiting. And what do you know, it did not rain for the rest of the day. I know that we will see him again in heaven but for now he will never leave our thoughts, our prayers, or our hearts. I love you Lcpl. K.D. Crowley, you will never be forgotten!
God bless."

"To the family of LCpl Kyle Crowley, USMC. My heart goes out to you for your loss. I discovered this site last week after my nephew Cpl Jeff Starr was killed in Iraq. I can only imagine your sense of loss. I have a daughter Kyle's age and we lived in San Ramon from '88 to '93 and its possible our children went to school together.
Please be comforted by those of us who appreciate young men like Kyle and the sacrifice they have made. I also understand that as parents you have made the greatest sacrifice a person can make. I know if you could you would gladly give your life if you could bring Kyle back. For reasons we can never understand Kyle has been lost. American has lost one its best; a true American hero. God bless you and thank you.

"To the Crowley and Johnson Family,
Kyle served his country in full, by laying down his life for the freedom of our country and of others overseas. A true Marine doen't fear death, but finds his greatest pride in knowing he was counted as worthy to die for his country! Kyle was a brave soldier, and will be dearly missed. I am planning on becoming a chaplain in the military, and it is your son who made my love for the Marine Corps that much stronger, and in his memory I commit to you all that I will go in a Chaplain with the United States Navy so as to have the opportunity to serve the Marine Corps as an officer, with brave men such as your son. May the Lord Bless you all as you continue to remember, and remember, it is the Marines that guard the gates of Heaven! He is proudly serving in our Lord's Marine Corps Now! The Marine Family will miss him, the U.S.A. will miss him, and the Bay Area will miss him! God Bless our men and women over seas! My dad has served over there and is hopefully on his way home soon, being a doctor for the men and women like your son! I appreciate your willingness to let him serve, and as it turned out to die for this wonderful country of yours! Please e-mail me, and let me know how things are going! When I get back up to Danville, from Univ. of Arizona this July, I will hopefully find a way to contact you, I would like to thank you all in person, and express my deepest gratitude and condolences!"

There is nothing I can do but to remember all the good times we had together; sharing deep secrets, making fun of each other, you taking me driving, Tahoe, Hawaii… It is all so bitter-sweet. I wish you could be here with us in the new house, we miss you sooo much. You make me so proud every day. I know you’re in heaven, guarding the pearly gates and watching down on me. Your life was too short and I wish every moment that I could have spent more time with you. You are so brave, and did so much for your country, it will never be forgotten. "Me and kyle attended southgate elementary together until his 6th grade year. We were best friends and shared a lot of great times together. He always made jokes and made sure he was noticed by everyone. During the bad moments that me and his other friends had he made sure we smiled to make everything seem better. I just recently learned about his death and have been deeply saddened by the news. I remember him the way he was the last time i saw him and i am sad to say i have lost my hero. The war never meant much to me for i didn't believe in it, but now that my friend and hero has passed i pray for kyle and his family along with all the other soldiers currently fighting for our country in hopes they return home safely. My sincere condolences go out to kyles family and his girlfriend. Even though i never met you i can understand the pain you feel. I know kyle is watching over you everyday."

"Precious kyle- it seems like just yesterday that we were in third period cooking class together: you had to make it a point that everyone knew that you were in the room by telling your latest jokes!! Kyle had the ability to put a smile on any face no matter how bad the situation seemed to be. He was the "COOL" senior to us lower-classmen with his bright personality and "saggy" blue jeans. The greatest thing about Kyle was his determination to succeed no matter how big or small the task was. When he came to cal high in dec.'03 to say good bye all dressed up in his uniform he looked so grown up and proud to be able to make a difference. Even though I only knew him for a short while he made it feel like we had known eachother our entire lives.
everytime....
i see an American flag,i see you
i see yellow , i see you
i see taco bell, i see you
i see slurpees, i see you
i see the stars , i see you
everywhere i look, i see our hero watching over us! you were too young to die, too young to be "remembered' but for all you have done for us you will never be forgotten! You will be a part of our future, a prayer in our voice,a skip in our step, a thought in our mind, a smile on our face, but most of all a hero in our hearts! We miss you kyle!
~ we will always love you~

Antoinette Brooks of Stone Mountain, Georgia
"I met Kyle freshman year of high school when I was 15. Little did I know he would have such an impact on my life. Kyle and I began dating the summer after freshman year. Kyle was my first love and I was his. We shared so many unforgettable times together; trips to Tahoe and Hawaii, prom, birthdays, Christmas, boot camp graduation, and all of our high school years. Kyle and I shared a special bond that was unbreakable; he was a part of my family.
Before Kyle left for Iraq he told me that I was his heaven, because he wouldn’t be able to see me but he knew I would always be there. Kyle is now my heaven, looking down on me as every day goes by. He always reminded me, “You know who guards the gates of heaven, the marines do.” I know that’s right where he is, standing proud.
Kyle was so dedicated to the marines; they were his new life and helped him overcome his rough childhood. Kyle was so brave and determined to make a difference for all of his loved ones back home, and that’s exactly what he did.
Kyle means the world to me. He changed my life, and gave me a gift of love that I will cherish forever. He will always hold a special place in my heart. Kyle, I love you more than I can put into words. Thank you for all of our wonderful memories, I will never forget all that we shared. I miss you.

"My Hero
A boy who changed his life around,
He wouldn’t accept the life that was bound,
Just 18 years old but as brave as could be,
And oh if you knew he meant to me,
Yes my brother that skinny little bean,
Decided to become a United States Marine,
Boot camp and training he flew through it all,
When I heard what was next I wanted to bawl,
The war was where he had to be,
In Iraq too far over sea,
I was sure with my deep thought and prayer,
He would be protected and all would be fair,
But one night would change it all,
The second we got the bad phone call,
With the horrible news of my brother’s pass,
I felt my heart shatter like glass,
Still hard to accept and hard to smile,
When it always feels like you’ve just ran miles,
And shining down from heaven he knows,
The love we have for him it shows,
I can’t wait for the day I’ll see him again,
And oh how long it seems to have been,
Only six months has seemed like a year,
When now I have so many fears,
Never again will I be the same,
And deep down there is always blame,
The feeling I have is below zero,
How much I will always miss my hero."

"Kyle Crowley. There isn't enough that you can say about that Marine. He never refered to me as anything other than a brother. Even though we don't come from the same parents, blood couldn't make us any closer. I lost a large part of my soul when my brother was taken from me, but now I myself sit in Najaf, Iraq living everyday of my life in hopes that I am making him proud. There are several times a day that I talk to Crow and ask for his help or advice. I have several friends here that pray that Crow is watching over us. There is no doubt in my mind that he's my guardian angel. I love you brother.

""I worked with Kyle about 5 years ago, he was so little and hadn't matured yet. We used to tease him at work and occasionally I would give him a ride home from work. I lost contact with him after I graduated but I will never forget his smile. He was truly a hero and very brave. He will be missed, but always loved by many.""

"My condolences to the Crowley and Johnson families. Any loss is difficult to comprehend, but to see a young man taken away so early, and just as he was realizing his dreams is unbearable. Take comfort in the fact that Kyle is now watching over all of us, and will continue to live on in our hearts forever. Rest in peace Kyle, and Thank You for being such an amazing person."

This is all for you, Kyle. Take care."

"Corporal Crowley, goodbye soldier and thank you. You are my hero."
Bill of Houston, Texas
"Kyle Crowley was one of the bravest, most dedicated, kind-hearted, determined, and enthusiastic individuals I have ever known. Though so many of our peers are just learning what we want, and how to go about getting it, Kyle always knew exactly what he wanted, and he went for it with everything that he was. No one ever needed to tell Kyle what was important in life—he knew what he loved, and he knew that it was worth fighting for.
Just a few weeks ago, several of Kyle’s close friends surrounded him as he planted himself firmly on the floor at his going-away party, chiming in to wish him a safe tour, and ordering him to return to us safely. That night, he explained to each of us with somber expression and a sense of maturity that I had never before witnessed in him that this was his duty—to go and fight for a country that he believed in, and to protect those he loved the most.
He had grown up so much from the Harlem-shakin’ Kyle I had always known, and yet he successfully balanced his new responsible, more adult-like identity with the trademark twinkling eyes and the goofy smile that could only be his—the Kyle that would pick me up, throw me over his shoulder, and spin me around at impossible speeds just because he got a kick out of making me so dizzy I thought I’d throw up.
That kind of spirit and strength is rare in such a young subject, but Kyle grew up so much just in the last few months of his life. His character and his lust for life will always be admired, and spoken of with great love… never forgotten."

"Kyle Crowley was one of a kind. He was like my little brother. I was always there for him and vice versa. It was nice to be a big sister to someone like him. He was also my neighbor. We had many good times together. Everything from my Sweet 16 Birthday to his late night climb onto my roof! I love him so much and it still seems unreal that he's gone. He made his dream come true and I am very proud of him. I love you Kyle."

"I didnt really know Kyle, but his death has still hit me hard. I remember seeing him during lunch in his uniform and now its kinda hard to believe I wont be seeing him again. He did this for his country and I'm very proud of him. This event has also shown me and I'm sure many other people, how real the war is and its very scary. I really hope this war ends soon, so all the men and women in Iraq can come home to their families and friends."

"KYLE, i never got the chance to get to know u all that well...but i saw how much u meant to my baby CARRIE, and how much she looked up to you-her "Big bro Kyle". Watching her cry for you has opened me up to the most painful feelings anyone could experience and it often seems as though i have lost a brother as well. I have heard nothing but good things about you and i only wish i could have had the chance to know you like she did. I will forever remember those few times we met, and your cool hat ; ) It seems like not too long ago you were leaving for the training camp. Carrie was so worried for you, as were all the people who loved you. It's still unreal that youre not coming back on leave. So many of us are half-expecting you to come back, but youve gone to a better place. As you watch over us, i hope you realize how much you meant to so many and that you will remain in each and every one of our hearts forever.
To Kyle's families, the Crowleys and the Johnsons: Kyle's death was not in vain, he willingly risked his life for his country and will forever be respected for his act. Kyle is looking down on us, make him happy and never let his memory die with him. There is a reason for everything, no matter how painful the outcome. Like TYLER said, maybe God just needed an angel."
