"I remember you traveling to BAF to go to the promotion board and I had to get your packet ready. Then, we went to the MWR to play Madden. I can't remember who won the game, but I will never forget your competitive nature. I remember arguing with SGT Martin (Marty Mar) about who would win in basketball between HHC and Alpha. He would always say that you were the man on the team. We even played on the same team a couple of games in Iraq. I also remember being on the Joint Colorguard for NORAD-USNORTHCOM and I had the opportunity to present the colors at several functions. The one I remember most is The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall in Colorado. The administrators for the traveling wall also had a memorial for Soldiers lost in Iraq and Afghanistan and I looked for and found your name. I made sure to take a picture in my Dress Blues with me pointing to your name. Ironically, I was vacationing in Miami, FL, and there was another memorial tribute on Miami Beach. I was staying in a hotel across the street from the beach and decided to check out the memorial and I found your name less than 100 steps from the hotel entrance. That was too much of a coincidence for me. Lastly, I remember a true Soldier and a great noncommissioned officer! You will be forever missed, but never forgotten!"

"Sam, not a day goes by that I don't think of my Madden buddy! You were the epitome of what a Soldier & a Non-commissioned officer was about. I will never forget the laughs, the fun, and the trash-talking (Madden football) we had during those years that we were stationed at Ft Bragg and during our deployment to Iraq together. I live my life knowing how important it is to make a difference in a person's life like you did for me. I will continue to spread your legacy to every Soldier as long as I live. Take care up there and I'll see you again when the time comes buddy!"

"My thoughts and prayers go out to Castle's family and friends. I seen Castle around the motorpool back at Bragg many times but since we were in different companies I never got to talk to him. I was unfortunate enough to actually hang out with him in Iraq(Camp Victory) due to a mutual friend and he was definately someone I would've kept around me. He was killed in action for few weeks after. I met him once and I still took it hard. I can't even begin to explain the way people were taking the news and how some of us dealt with it. I still wear the bracelet to this day and vow to, until the last soldier comes home. Castle field is still here and I look over at it every time I drive by it. RIP Samuel T. Castle"

"The 2 year anniversary of your death has just passed, but I must reiterate that you will never ever be forgotten. I think about you, Nicole, and Lil Sammy quite often. Man, I still miss you so much. I hate we didn't keep in contact like we should have. If I heard you were home, I'd always say I'd catch you on the next go-round. No matter how long in between our visits, nothing changed. You were still the same Sam, and we were never strangers! But you've taught me a life lesson. Nothing in life is guaranteed. And I thank you for that, and for your legacy! Rest on, my brother...one day I will see you again."

"To my dearest brother and sister, the God Parents of our children we are deeply saddened by the lost of Sam. Our condolences to you and Sammie and the family. Sam we will be there for
Nicole and Sammie always. You will always be Loved and missed by the White family. My Soldier, Friend and brother in Christ Jesus. I Know you are watching over us as GOD has his arms wrapped around you. Rest my brother, rest until we see each other again."

"First, I'd like to say, Rest In peace to my friend/Brother/SGT/Quarter Back/Neighbors,and more. Sam Was that and more to me.
Secondly, I'd like to say to the family of Sam's, that i'm so sorry for your loss. Our loss. Nicole and family.
I say that because, When I found out about his passing, it was like my hearing about my Brother when he passed away, all over again.
So many memories of Sam. No matter on or off the Football field, he went hard at it. 150%, and it was all effortless. It seemed like it was easy to do what he did, and I admired that so much about him because he made me better in doing so.
My heart hurts whenever I think of the fact that he is no longer with us. That means, a heart ache per day since my knowledge of.
But I know he is watching us. Of this i'm sure. I know that he smiling down on me cause I still can't play Madden for nothing. I know. Before I end this, Sam always used to say to me. He said "It's not where you from. It's how you come". And Sam always came correct.

I miss you Boy"

"Thanks To You All,
It's coming up on a year since Sam has passed. I think it is about time to let everyone know how the family is doing. Well, everyday is hard but everyday goes by. I'm priviledged to watch my son grow up everyday. He is definitely the split imagine of his father. He keeps me going, without him I really would be lost. Well, Dec 05' I got out of the military after seven years and I most say it was one of the hardest things I had to do. You see to me and Sam the military was our life. It brought me and him together. We were soldiers to the end. God has definitely played a big role in my healing. I appreciate all the prayers and love sent everyday. I leave this message for Sam's soldiers as well as mine. "Live life to the fullest and enjoy your family and friends because nothing is ever promised in life." Thank you everybody!!! We love you all!

"Sam:
You and I went to high school together and were friends. You were a great person with a kind and humble heart. I don't know of one person who could say anything negative about you. You had such a sweet spirit and it is still with all who knew you. It still amazes me today....but know you're greatly missed.
To your family:
I am so sorry for your loss. I can't even begin to imagine. I will continue praying for you.(prayer doesn't just change things, it changes EVERYTHING) Seek God's face and He'll give you peace beyond your understanding. The kind messages left on his message board show that his being had such an impact on more than just the Hughes Springs community and I know you are proud...he touched MANY people all over the U.S. and his spirit continues to live on.

Your Friend"

"To the Castle Family,
There are very few days that go by that I don't think of Sam and the sacrifice he made for each of us. He is truly an American hero and a Hughes Springs hero. My hope is that God gives you the comfort that only he can supply. Rest assured that Sam will not be forgotten in this small East Texas community. If not for committed individuals like Sam, where would our country and us as individuals be?
God Bless each of you."

"Nicole and Samuel's Family,
Sam was one of my best friends and I had received an email from him the day he was killed. I loved Sam like a brother. We had been friends for about 9 years and he was one wonderful person inside and out. I am truly sorry as I know what it is like to lose a husband or fiance' as I have lost mine. My son and your son are 2 weeks apart and it tore me up when I got the news and I imagined what I would do in your situation. Well, I am feeling some of the same feelings as my fiance' died and was buried 1 month before my son turned 2. God bless you and yours. I pray that one day I will get the chance to meet Lil' Sam and tell him great things about his father. Love you all, Meshia. My email address: meshiatate@yahoo.com Please keep in touch. Take care Nicole."
