"I will never forget this man. I served with the 220th MP Company running convoy security and patrols on MSR Tampa in 2003, between Baghdad and Navistar. My Humvee broke down, and me and my troops hung with Joseph and his guys for the day waiting for parts, playing spades for hours. He encouraged me when I was down and out from our missions, supported my leadership, and was a powerful example of an NCO. When I heard of his death after my own AirEvac, I wished it could have been me instead of him. I have prayed for those he left behind ever since. He was a great soldier and the best kind of American I have ever served with. I grieve his loss still."
Michael Lemke of Colorado Springs, CO

"I had the distinct privilege and honor to serve as Joe’s Company Commander in the 115th MP Co. for 4 years. I was blessed during that period to serve with the greatest soldiers I have ever met. Joe was most definitely one of the special ones. Although I left the unit in 2000, the bonds I created during that period with my 115th brothers and sisters are still as strong today. Several of them are currently serving with me in the 43rd MP Brigade in Baghdad, some served with Joe here in 2003, and we trade stories and poke fun at the 115th days. It is surreal to travel the same roads Joe was on almost three years ago. Today is Memorial Day, 29 May 2006 and during our Memorial Service we remembered Joe, along with our 115th brothers Todd Caldwell and Mike Andrade, as well as the many other heroes we have lost in this tour and in the past. Today we do not share anecdotes, or make fun of things that happened ‘back in the day’. Today we go quietly about our business, remember our fallen friends in our own way, and pray for strength and solace for their families. Joe’s loss was difficult to bear, not only because his witty smile could defuse just about any situation, but because he was such a great soldier, father, and friend. Today, in this place, I miss him."

"Even those who knew Joe for a short time are affected by his passing. He was a great man with such a light around him. He made you laugh, smile, and envy him for the man he was and the way he loved his family. One would be lucky if they had what he had in his life. He was honorable in life and in death. I think of him and his family every day, (today is 3/30/05)not a day goes by that I don't think of his life and his death and what it has meant in my life. I know his family lives on with the knowledge that a man like him will always be with them. God Bless you, Camara family..thoughts will ALWAYS be with you..."

"In Loving Memory..Its been a year..9/1/04
At the rising of the sun and at its going down, We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter, We remember them.
At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring, We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer, We remember them.
At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn, We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live;
for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
Rest in Peace Dear Soldier!!! We will NEVER FORGET!"

"To the family of my good friend,
My name is Spc John Marotte, I served with Sgt camara in the 115th MP Co. for six years. Sgt Camara was my squad leader, and stand in platoon Sgt.
His passing has been devastating to me as well as anybody who was lucky enough to have been graced with Joe's presence. I have not stopped crying since I heard the news on the radio while at work. There hasn't been a day that has gone bye, that I haven't wished I had been there with Joe, maybe I could have changed some small thing throughout the day, and he would still be here with us. I was discharged in April, so I am here if you need anything mpmarotte@cox.net"

"Military Police Corps Regimental Prayer
By Chaplain Michael Yarman
Heavenly Father - We approach You today because You have called us to be a people of prayer.
We praise You because You are our Creator, our Redeemer and our Provider.
We acknowledge our great need for You as we fulfill our mission as soldiers.
We have been called to serve our nation as Military Police and we are proud of the honored heritage of the Regiment and our motto: Of the Troops and For the Troops.
Whether we are fighting an enemy, securing as area, patrolling the streets, or helping someone in distress, help us, O Lord, to always be men and women of integrity who can be counted on to do the right thing.
Give us the strength to stand for what is right and to oppose those who would do harm to our nation and the people we serve.
May we always be truthful in Word, Deed and Signature, and bring honor through our service to the memory of those in the Regiment who gave the supreme sacrifice for their country.
Guide us now, Father, by giving us wisdom and knowledge from on high, that as Military Police we will always be prepared to Assist, Protect and Defend."
