"My thoughts and prayers to the Burri family on this Memorial Day. The building that bears SPC Burri's name at AL Udeid AB, Qatar has supported CENTCOM Aerial Delivery diligently for many years now. GOD BLESS."

"I was just thinking about you. I remember we were the shorties in PT formation and you were always cracking jokes because it was cold as hell out, made everyone laugh! It was an honor to be apart of the Rigger Building dedication in your name. I think about you a lot. I know your family is so proud of you."
Amelia Baysden of Wilmington, NC

"To the parents of Eric Burri: I am writing in place of my husband Philip Wingrove who was one of Eric's best friends and served side by side until his untimely death. Philip doesn't go a day without missing Eric. We have not had many conversations but every now and again photos will be brought out and silent tears are shed. My husband loved your son like a true brother and he is to this day greatly missed. I am sending this message because your loss was felt across many households that day and we light a candle in honor of your son.."

"To the Family of Eric
I am not sure if you remember me, but I had the privilage of escorting your Hero and mine, home to you. I think of Eric very often and my heart wells up with the loss of your loved one. I served with Eric in Kuwait before he courageously went North into Iraq as his Detachment Platoon Sergeant. He is engrained in my memory, as with many others who had the pleasure of knowing him. It is in his honor that the Soldiers of the 623rd Quartermaster Company are striving to bring the Rigger Rodeo trophy for 2012, home to Fort Bragg. It will truly be an honor to see you you once again, under different circumstances. Gods Blessings be with you now and always."
SFC Daniel R. Soper of 623rd First Sergeant

"Dear Mr. Burri,

I am a formerly enlisted US Marine residing in Birmingham, AL. and know the sacrifices service members make in the battlefield. I could not agree with you more in regards to the improper act of lowering our flags for a recording artist. I have been deeply disappointed as well, best regards to you and your family."
Albert of Birmingham, AL

"To Mr. John Burri, father of Eric. After reading the ABC News article regarding your angst toward NJ Gov. Christie's lowering of the flag for a deceased civilian recording artist, I couldn't agree with you more. My son served in the US Army in the initial Iraq invasion and though he returned home, I remember the concern for his welfare and all based upon a politician's decision to put him in harm's way. Thank you for your son's service and for his sacrifice. I am deeply sorry for your loss. May God be with you, always."
Jon Gorrell of Tampa, FL

"Its memorial weekend and I can't help but think of you. I miss you terribly and I thank God that he gave me that brief moment to reconnect with you. "My name is SFC Crain. I was Eric's first Platoon Sergeant in the 600th QM Co. When I deployed to Iraq in Jun 04, Eric was re-assigned to 623rd Co. whom he deployed with. He came to visit me in Iraq everytime he came to the BIAP on mission. It made me feel good that this young Soldier would take his personal time to come and visit me at a different camp. Eric was an honorable Soldier, that I respect and will acknowledge at my Retirement Ceremony for his Ultimate Sacrifice. God Bless him and his entire Family."

"As I Sit at my Computer tonight, on the eve of the anniversary of Eric's death, I remember the night that he was taken from all of us. I remember it like it was yesterday. There is not a week that goes by that I don’t either think about him or tell someone about him. He truly was a hero among heroes. I know how hard it must be for Eric's family. Once again I truly am sorry for your loss. It was my distinct privilege to serve with Eric. Eric YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN."

"I met Eric here in Uruguay where he spend like a year i think, it was in 1998 or 1999 i guess, we get along well and used to eat chivito`s at my house, he liked them a lot, as well as the music i recorded from his cd´s (Offspring, RATM, etc). Since he left here i never talk to him again and it feels so sad knowing he´s gone, he was such a nice guy, i´ll always remember him with a great smile and thanks to life for the oportunitie of meeting somebody like Eric, it´s not right all the lifes wasted in a faraway country, hope someday we´ll meet again and do kids things like we used to, i´m 25 could somebody tell me his age if he were here??
It was great to met you buddy wherever you are i´m sure you´ll be fine as you deserve it.

"It's almost memorial day and it makes me think a lot about Eric. Memorial day is about remembering those who have fallen in service, and, not only is it almost memorial day, it's also almost the 4th year and I can't believe it's been that long. To me it feels like forever, every day feels like a whole year, ever year seems like a century. I love you Eric, you will never be forgotten.

By the way ... the first time my mom took me to learn how to drive a stick shift it was at your cemetary and I know you were laughing at me cuz I kept stalling it.

"To the Family of Eric Burri,
As much as it hurts to know your son has fallen, know that he has fallen in one of the most prestigous ways to die. He died for our freedom, he died for our country, and he died for you. So that you can go through life not being scared to go to the grocery store or take a walk around the block. I used to work with Eric, I went to school with Eric and I remember the last day I saw him, It was his last day at Culver's when he went off to Basic. Now, I can't say much, But I will go over there, knowing that one of my fellow comrades, my friend has died. I salute you Eric, for you are truly a Hero."
Corporal Timothy Garcia, USMC of 29 Palms, CA

"I just recently heard the news and immediatly stopped to reflect and remember the person I knew for so long. Eric was a great guy, always smiling and joking around...the kind-of person always capable of putting a smile on someone elses face. He was kind, compassionate and caring..never hesitating to give out a much needed hug or word of support. I graduated a year ahead of Eric and went off myself to the Air Force so I wasn't aware Eric had enlisted until I heard of your loss. What great pride there is in serving your country...I'm so sorry for your loss...but so proud to have known him. My prayers are with you and your family!"

"Eric is a great friend, but he's more than that to us, he's family. My wife made a comment to me last night that really describes Eric well. She said that Eric used up more happiness in 21 years than most of us will in a lifetime. He was just such a happy and outgoing person. Everyone that knew Eric liked and respected him so much. He is our hero and everyone should be so proud of him. He's gone on to more important things now and we're happy and excited for him. We know he's up there looking down on us and making sure that we're okay. We love you Eric!!!"
