In my teaching scrapbook, I still have the newspaper announcement of his sacrifice. My thoughts, prayers and thanks are with him and his family..."

"I went to the WD Career center with David. We had English together. Even though it's been over 10 years I can still remember his smile and how kind he was. I remember him talking about going to the service and how excited he was I found out about his passing a few years after I graduated high school. I was a Wal Mart and saw his picture on the wall. It broke my heart to see humans the other fallen soldiers. ill never forget David."

This is Robby, Shawn's friend. My sister and I delivered the flowers to you when we heard of David's passing. I don't know how often this page is read I know it has been 7 years since David's sacrifice. I am thinking of y'all and found this page. My deepest sympathy to this day goes out to you and your family whom I have known for many years though may not have been as close as some you all still hold a place in my heart as a community family and of course the great Marine Corps family. I just wanted to let you know that David is not and never will be forgotten.

""THE FINAL INSPECTION"

THE SOLDIER STOOD AND FACED GOD,
WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS
HE HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING,
JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS.

"STEP FORWARD NOW, YOU SOLDIER,
"HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU?
HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER CHEEK?
TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?

THE SOLDIER SQUARED HIS SHOULDERS AND SAID,
"NO, LORD, I GUESS I AIN'T,
BECAUSE THOSE OF US WHO CARRY GUNS,
CAN'T ALWAYS BE A SAINT.

I'VE HAD TO WORK MOST SUNDAYS,
AND AT TIMES MY TALK WAS TOUGH
AND SOMETIMES I'VE BEEN VIOLENT,
BECAUSE THE WORLD IS AWFULLY ROUGH.

BUT, I NEVER TOOK A PENNY,
THAT WASN'T MINE TO KEEP ....
THOUGH I WORKED A LOT OF OVERTIME,
WHEN THE BILLS GOT JUST TOO STEEP.

AND I NEVER PASSED A CRY FOR HELP,
THOUGH AT TIMES I SHOOK WITH FEAR.
AND SOMETIMES, GOD, FORGIVE ME,
I'VE WEPT UNMANLY TERS.

IF YOU'VE A PLACE FOR ME HERE, LORD,
IT NEEDN'T BE SO GRAND
I NEVER EXPECTED OR HAD TOO MUCH,
BUT IF YOU DON'T, I'LL UNDERSTAND.

THERE WAS A SILENCE ALL AROUND THE THRONE,
WHERE THE SAINTS HAD OFTEN TROD.
AS THE SOLDIER WAITED QUIETLY,
FOR THE JUDGMENT OF HIS GOD.

"STEP FORWARD NOW, YOU SOLDIER,
YOU'VE BORNE YOUR BURDENS WELL.
WALK PEACEAFULLY ON HEAVEN'S STREETS,
YOU'VE DONE YOUR TIME WELL!!"

"Dear Yvette, Lindsey, Brittany & David's brother: It seems like yesterday that I can see Mark and Yvette's two sons, playing basketball in Yvette's driveway on Foreman Drive by Lafayette High School, so many good memories! David was so positive, uplifting, so sweet in character! This is Liz Romagosa: Amy, Katy, Mark,& Stacy Baldwin's mother. I have been living in N. Carolina (all of us) for 4 1/2 years now, since 2002. We love all military personnel, David was serving our country, doing his duty to his capabilities. Now he is at rest! Just know everyone is praying for your family. He is at peace! We all know where he is resting! My son, Mark is a Corporal at Camp Lejeune, NC; a marine for 3 1/2 years now. Going to Iraq in Dec. '06. Also, he is married for 2 years and they are expecting their 1st baby April '07. Amy is 25, single, no kids, Katy has 2 children, Angel 3, Andrew 1. Stacy has 2 children: Kyleigh 3, Katelyn 2 & expecting #3 baby April '07. Can you believe it, at age 45, I will have 6 grandchildren by April, 2007. David deceased same time, month and year as my mother; Renee Romagosa. I was too upset back in 2004 to talk to anyone. I love you all. I miss you all. Hope to hear back from you soon, Yvette. And I certainly do support you in your efforts to pass that new bill. Let me know if I can be of any help.
"Happy Thanksgiving 2006 to everyone"

"To Ms. Yvette Burridge,

I share in your frustration with those people that try to shame the memories of the men and women who have lost their lives while serving their country with pride. Please know that while no words can ease the pain of your loss, I too am on your side. I support the cause that your son gave his life for and I will continue to support each and every troop that carries on the mission of our military. I respect your son for the job that he did and thank you for raising him to be a dedicated and honored young man. May you find peace and comfort in the memories you surely hold dear to your heart. Hold true to your promise.

"Hey babe,
It's mum, just wanted you to know I'm trying to hold up to you what I promised. There are some very ugly people in this world. I couldn't believe it, when I saw the t-shirts, car magnets, a site called Eyes Wide Open, and Ms. Cindy Sheehan on the internetand how they want to use all the names of the Fallen. I have taken all I can, I'm trying to get a Bill passed so people like this can not disgrace your name or any other Marine, Navy, Army, etc. Name any longer. Babe, I will not take NO for an answer. I hope I'm doing you proud. You tell your fellow brothers I will not stand for anyone using their names for protesting this war or against Pres. Bush. That they need to keep it seperate from what ya'll were fighting for
I love you and miss you so much. You hold your head up high and be proud of who you are, I know I am and so is the rest of the family. We will see each other again soon.
Love ya
Mum"
