"Bubb,

This year will mark ten years since we lost you. Everyday I can only try to live up to the example you set. When we served together you were younger than me but a whole lot wiser- you had such a great work ethic. We talked a good bit- you never said anything negative about anyone. You always preferred laughing to jeering. You were a focused self-starter, you were the self-taught comm guy for our platoon. I think of you everyday Bubb- my life has continued, I've aged over these years, but you remain young in my memories. Thank you for your sacrifice that morning,
sending my prayers to your loved ones."

"Bubbles... its been 5 years since I learned of your passing. I was a few miles away when it happened, then I was across the MSR when Highland told me about it when we met up. I was pretty hurt when he told me. I asked my 1st Sgt. If I could tag along to attend you and Hildebrantes memorial ceremony. Not one dry eye there. We didn't hang out much unless we were hangin out with McDaniel, but it was good times. God bless your family and may He rest your soul. You earned it bro."
Chris, former LAR Marine. of Oklahoma City, Ok

"Daniel its been over 4 and a half years since your passing, I know that we had a falling out several years prior to you enlisting and I never got a chance to apologize for being such a disgrace of a human being. What you did for this country is second to none brother, and your sacrifice inspired me to better my life in so many ways, I am currently serving in Iraq and I am set to return home in about 6 weeks, I want to say that I am sorry for being such a stupid kid and thank you for giving us the freedom at home to enjoy our lives when you will now never have the chance to enjoy yours on this earth. My only solice in this is knowing that you are enjoying your true life much more because there can only be a special place in heaven for men like you. God bless your family, God bless America, and God bless the United States Marine Corps"

"Dear Daniel, family, and friends,

Dan, I can't tell you how often i think about the time we served together. I remember when you reported to the platoon...i had a bond with you because i was recently assigned to the platoon as well...I remember while sitting in Kuwait we decided that you would be the platoon's com expert...you took that task and ran with it...how many Marines did you save by swiftly calling in medevacs? Dan, sevrving with you has made me a better man. My love to you and your family."
Tyson Hinds, Platoon Commander, Apache 1-1, Jan-Dec 2004 of Alexandria, Va

"Bubb,

You were at the top of your game, you were the smartest young Marine I've ever seen, you were a genius with communications, and the platoon couldn't have operated without you. You overcame so much of the BS from the higher ups, you are more of a man than most. God Bless you Marine, Semper Fi."
Sgt. Chad L. Lisdahl 2nd Platoon, Apache Co., 1st LAR BN of Superior, WI

"Lance Cpl. Daniel Bubb was one of my closest and truest friends growing up. He is and will ALWAYS be my hero. It is for that reason that on Sept. 27th 2007, I named my first born after him. He has already proven himself to be a fighter, he came out with a black eye. I know that Daniel will always watch over my son, and I will always consider him my son's guardian angel. I love him and miss him dearly. There hasn't been a day that's gone by where he hasn't been on my mind and in my heart. I thank God for the time I was blessed with knowing him, I only wish it could have been longer. I thank you Daniel for the sacrifice you made, I love and miss you."

"Daniel was one of the most genuine, kind-hearted people I've ever met. As one of the most loyal friends anyone could ask for, he was always there to pick you up when you were down. After meeting Daniel we stayed close even in the times we were far apart. He was an amazing person, and I know he is missed every day by everyone who knew him. As painful as it is to know he's gone, God has has used him to touch many lives. He will never be forgotten and will always be a hero in my eyes.
I love you Daniel."

"I will nenver forget when you came to 1st LAR and I had the opportunity to put you into my plt. 2 deployments with you and the great opportunity to see you learn and grow in the short time you were in. I remember when we were going to go to SERE school and how excited you were. You learned so much about yourself when you got that knee injury. Anyone else would have just given up. With words of encouragement you pulled through and stepped to the plate. I will never forget you. It's has been almost a year buddy. Never Forget, Never Forgive.

"I JUST FOUND OUT YESTERDAY, 22 JULY 2006, ABOUT THE SACRIFICE LCPL DANIEL BUBB GAVE TO OUR GREAT COUNTRY. I MET THIS AWESOME YOUNG MAN IN 2003 AT THE ROCKINGHAM COUNTY FAIR. I WAS A NAVY RECRUITER AT THE TIME, AND DANIEL AND I TALKED ABOUT HIS DESIRE TO JOIN ONE OF THE ARMED FORCES AND SERVE HIS COUNTRY WITH PRIDE. I KNEW DANIEL HAD DECIDED TO BECOME A MARINE AND I WAS VERY PROUD OF HIM FOR THAT. I KNEW THAT HE WAS GOING TO BE ONE OF THE BEST AND GIVE HIS ALL FOR HIS FAMILY, FRIENDS AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. IT IS SO HEART-WRENCHING WHEN YOU LOSE A LOVED ONE, AND EVEN MORE SO WHEN IT'S TO A WAR THAT SO MANY HAVE MIXED EMOTIONS ABOUT. FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE, AND WE HAVE LIVED WITH THAT FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME. I WISH THAT I COULD HAVE TALKED TO DANIEL ONE MORE TIME AND LET HIM KNOW HOW PROUD I WAS FOR HIS DECISION TO BE A UNITED STATES MARINE. I KNOW NOW THAT HE IS A GUARDIAN ANGEL WATCHING OVER ALL OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN IN HARM'S WAY. I'LL PRAY EVERYDAY FOR HIS FAMILY, THAT GOD WILL COMFORT THEM DURING TIMES OF SORROW AND GRIEF AND GIVE THEM THE STRENGTH TO ENDURE THE SPECIALS MEMORIES OF DANIEL. DANIEL, THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW YOU. I CAN'T SAY IT ENOUGH. I AM VERY PROUD TO HAVE SERVED MY COUNTRY ALONGSIDE A YOUNG MAN SUCH AS YOU. THANK YOU!

THOSE WHO DO NOT DO BATTLE FOR THEIR COUNTRY DO NOT KNOW WITH WHAT EASE THEY ACCEPT THEIR CITIZENSHIP IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

"A brief candle both ends burning
An endless mile a bus wheel turning
A friend to share the lonesome times
A handshake and a sip of wine
So say it loud and let it ring
That we're all part of everything
The Present, Future and the Past
Fly on proud bird, you're free at last

"My son is a corpsman. He was with Daniel that fateful day. On the phone a couple of days ago he said how he missed his close friend Daniel. They went to church a few times before deploying to Iraq and my son shared some of the many laughs and antics they enjoyed together. Daniel was just a week older than my son. My son said he would have been standing next to Daniel had he not been ordered to stay with the vehicle. I thank God daily for my son and give thanks that he could serve with such a fine young marine. They are truly brothers forever as this Easter Day we say He is Risen Indeed! So too Daniel."
trstocks of Kenai Alaska

"Daniel was one of if not the most amazing person I have ever met. He was so kind and giving. He cared for even those he had never met. He would have given the shirt off his back to a complete stranger. I knew Daniel since I was very young because we lived a few blocks from each other. We worked together at Grand Caverns, his first love. We worked there for 3 years, became best friends and even went to Senior Prom together. It is impossible to put into words the tremendous person he was or what a loss I and everyone who has ever known his have felt, so I will keep it short and sweet. He will always be my hero and always be the bravest and kindest person I've ever known. We will all miss you Daniel and we will never forget."
Tara Taylor of Grottoes, Va

"Please accept my most sincere sympathy. I learned of Daniel recently from the news media. I saw a picture of him on a web site called the Final Roll Call. I share your sadness and appreciate your Daniel's sacrifice for his country-- for me and my Daniel."

"My nephew Chad was killed in the same action as you Daniel. I know that the two of you went down as the true warriors you are. I am proud of Chad and proud of you. I know that each of you gave it your all. Because of you, we can sleep secure in our beds at night. We will not forget your sacrafice and someday I will get to meet you and shake your hand and say thank you to your face."

"Poem:
People liked him not because he was rich or known to fame;
He had never won applause as a star in any game.
His was not a brilliant style, his was not a forceful way,
But he had a gentle smile and a kindly word to say.
Never arrogant or proud, on he went with manner mild;
Never quarrelsome or loud, just as simple as a child;
Honest, patient, brave and true:
Thus he lived from day to day, doing what he found to do In a cheerful sort of way.
Wasn't one to boast of gold or belittle it with sneers,
Didn't change from hot to cold,
Kept his friends throughout the years.
Sort of man you like to meet any time or any place.
There was always something sweet and refreshing in his face.
Sort of man you'd like to be: Balanced well and truly square;
Patient in adversity, generous when his skies were fair,
Never lied to friend or foe, never rash in word or deed,
Quick to come and slow to go in a neighbor's time of need.
Never rose to wealth or fame, simply lived, and simply died,
But the passing of his name left sorrow, far and wide.
Not for glory he'd attained,
Nor for what he had of wealth,
Were the friends that he had gained, But of what he was himself.

Love,"

"To the family,
I remember Daniel always following me around the school when I was there to get paperwork. I kept thinking to my self “Man this kid wants to Marine bad” It’s very rare that you have a Jr following you around the school. But then it happened. Daniel was now a senior and he was about to turn 17. I was on my way into the front office and there he was, sitting in the office waiting to see the Principle. (He wasn’t in trouble) At that time was the first time I meet his Mother. (You could not ask for a kinder lady.) But he had to let me know that he was ready to do it. He said “ Me and my mom will stop by your office to sign the paperwork next week. Well Daniel Joined the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) and I must say I grew mighty attached to this kid. There was something about him that made him different. A person you wanted to talk to. He always showed up for the Poolee meetings. Could not ask for a better Young man. While Daniel was in we kept in contact until I left Recruiting Duty OCT 2004. Then I got the phone call that he had been KIA. And I could not hold then back no longer. Daniel was a great MARINE And I know he will be there to greet me at those gates of Heaven when my time comes. LCpl Daniel Scott R. Bubb, I salute you for a job well done. It is now time for someone else to carry your pack. Don’t worry we can do it. It is now your time to guard the streets of heaven. You will be greatly missed. And I ‘m so grateful to have had the opportunity to be the Recruiter that helped you fulfill your dream. You and LCpl Redifer( KIA) will live in my heart forever.
Until we meet again Semper Fidelis Marine"

"I also heard about Daniel on NPR. His character was evident in his concern for others, exemplified by his request for combat boots for his friend, Angel. I cannot know the depth of loss you feel, but your family is in my prayers tonight."
