"My son and I placed a flag on your warrior's marker today at Marietta National Cemetery. Importantly, his name and act of valor was uniquely mentioned and acknowledged to the crowd of hundreds gathered to place a flag on every marker.
We remember your loved one. God Bless America. God Bless your family.

"It has been almost 9 years since you were called home.. you continue to live on through those who had the privilige to know you. I can only hope you are proud of how we still try to honor you and your fallen brothers. I try to make you proud everyday when I wear the uniform of a United States soldier, the Nation's Colors on my shoulder. I think of you everyday. I was asked the other day at your memorial event why I didn't get out after you left us.. my reply was that the evil men who did this to you weren't going to scare me into giving up.. I am staying in and fighting the good fight.. in your honor and memory for as long as they will keep me around.. That and I know I would never hear the end of it from you if I had given up that easily.. You always pushed me to better myself as a soldier. I love you and miss you dearly. Regardless of how much time we had together, I am honored to be the one you chose to share your last name with and the one you called your wife. That honor is forever mine. Thinking of you always and loving you forever.

"Hey buddy,
It seems like yesterday when we were umpiring ball games together. When you came home from Parris Island, a new Marine, you told me that it was the most fun you ever had, and I knew you would be a great Marine. I just didn't know that would be the last time I'd see you. It's hard driving by your house up the street and knowing you're not there. I'm glad to say that it is an honor to have you as a friend. I'll see you again one day. Be sure to give my Daddy a hug for me from time to time!!"
