"Mikey its getting close to that unfortunate day. I miss you buddy and i still remember the last thing you said to me you asked me who would win in a fight me or Chilly Willy on my arm and i said Chilly Willy would whoop me. LOL. You could always make us laugh; you will never be forgotten Battle."

"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com"

"I remember being in Mike's Science Fiction class as a freshmen, he was a sophomore. We weren't good friends or anything, but I knew who Mike was. I think of Mike every patriotic/military holiday that rolls around and can't help but shed some tears for his sacrifice and your loss. I just got back from a deployment with some of the guys that were deployed with Mike and they've told me their first-hand accounts of what happened several years ago to Mike. It wrenches my heart to the core. Anyways, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Barkey family for their great loss.
Freedom isn't free."

"Mike, you will never be forgotten. I remember when we first met at AT and you and I had to drive to Camp Grayling by ourselves. What were they thinking. I remember that we had to drive thru downtown Toledo with a Conex that did not have clearance to take the freeway back home so we took the backroads all the way back to Akron. I had never driven the vehicle before and you made me do it. That was how you rolled. No worries!! I think about you all the time and know that you are missed. We'll meet again buddy. Until then, rest in peace."
Matt Marino of Mentor, OH

"Well brother its been over 3 years since you passed. I remember the last time I saw you I set an apple from the chow hall next to you while you were sleeping at Al Asad. That night we headed for Ramadi. Since I was navigating I didn't see you again. But you aren't forgotten. You were a top notch soldier and an even better friend. A true PATRIOT."

"I stil think about that night I took your best friend to see you. It was just before the two of you flew out for your final resting place it was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. To see how much of an impact you made on the people around you. I cant help but cry thinking about it. I remmember when we were at Akron U. competing over the highest grade, and competing over our civil service exam scores for various firefighting tests, competing over who could lift the most weight. Well I did better than you thought I could but you stil beat me. You made me laugh so many times I couldn't count. Your impact was through your friends and your gift of laughter. You inspired everyone around you thank you. SSG TIM LUSK 1484TH TC"

I just got home from tonight's football game. The dedication was beautiful.

"Mikey, Mikey, Mikey. Youv'e made me laugh from the minute I met you (with a few cries in between, because I USED to be a wimp. Be tough like Bernie Kosar!). I know your up in heaven right now and are standing here right next to me, but I wanted to write to inform the people of this world of how much of a HERO you really are. You are and always will be a great friend, who was never afraid to protect your family and friends from the evils of this world. Thank you Mike for making my life a more enjoyable and comforting one. Not only for me, but also the countless thousands or millions in Irag that you gave the same honor without regard to national alligience.
