"To Jason Disney:

WOW!!!! Funny how I even stumbled upon this site, but I'm glad I did. I have now saved it as a favorite.

The same way that everyone has described you is the way I remember you. You were one of the funniest dudes I ever ran across in the entire military. You were a MONSTER as far as working at your craft. You could use that welder in ways I never seen before. And you were passionate and dedicated to your family and where were from.

I came in contact with Disney in January 2002. We were all at the K2 location in Uzbekizstan and it was a group of maintenance personnel put together to be dispatched at Bagram AFB, and he and I were 2 of those people in the group, as was 1SG Cardona. As he stated, he was our platoon sergent.

From the time we got to Afganistan all the way up until your untimely passing, we worked side by side. We would go to war in dominoes and tell stories, and all I remember you talking about was your son, and how much you loved him. We slept together, guarded weapons together, ate MREs together. lol...

Then that day when arrived. Something I'll never forget. I won't go into details as to what took place, but I was thinking "Disney's tough as nails" and he'll be OK. When our Battalion Commander broke the news to us that you had passed, I Remember a few people just screaming out. I went completely numb. I couldn't believe it. And the only thing I could think of was your son. He's not going to have the opportunity to know his amazing dad! That is a day I will never ever forget! I am so glad to hear that they have named the main road after you. You deserve it. You were a great man and a incredible soldier.

TO THE DISNEY FAMILY: I'm sorry for the lost of your loved one Jason. He loved you ALL!!! He represented who he was and where he was from and with pride. Please continue to be bring honor to his name.

TO JASON JR: Your dad LOVED YOU! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I was with him the last month of his life, and you were all he talked about! Be proud of who you are! You came from a great man!

"Jason it's been awhile and I can still remember your smiling and fearless face! You had a way about you! I remember the day Eric brought you home to Carriage Hill and the three of us played dominoes("Bones")as you both liked to call them!We drank beer and we played bones and we laughed hysterically and we were just young kids in the prime of our lives having fun! Eric and you wrestling outside on my balcony and vowing to go kick some * in middle east!I remember the last time we saw you and how we had all made plans to barbeque at the pool, drink beer, and play "Bones"I miss you my friend! We just never got that chance! As fate would have it neither did Eric! You both are together now! I imagine you playing "Bones " in heaven! You were my brothers my heroes my unforgotten heroes and I was Blessed to know you! I will see you when I get there!"

"I was with Jason on that unfortunate day. I did not know him well but he did a lot for my unit. Bagram at the time was what some of us call "fun". We had no hot chow, no showers no creature comforts. Jason made our little world there at bagram a better place to be. He was a magician with the welder and it was my pleasure to have met him and served next to him. I hope his family is doing well. It has been a long time but it seems like it was just yesterday. Rest in peace my brother. If anyone from the family would like to contact me... k91023@gmail.com"

"Hi...I'm the former mayor of International Falls, MN (Shawn Mason). Several of us, this morning, walked a mile for Jason with Mike Ehredt from Project America Run II. Mike is running from International Falls to the Gulf of Mexico to honor those who lost their lives in Afghanistan. He is running a marathon each day, for 11 weeks straight and will reach the Gulf of Mexico on Veterans' Day. For each mile he runs, he places an American flag, bearing a yellow ribbon with the name, age, rank and hometown of a fallen hero. We walked a mile with him this morning and placed Jason Disney's flag in International Falls, just off Hwy 11 West, across from the First Lutheran Church. Just thought you would want to know. Thank you to Jason, and all who sacrificed, for their service. God Bless America, God Bless Jason, and God Bless the families left behind."
Shawn Mason of International Falls, MN USA

"What can I say about Jason that hasn't already been said? When I first met Jason we clicked immediately over our love of games and comics. Eventually he became my roommate. The times we spent hanging out were some of my fondest memories while stationed at Ft. Bragg. Jason not only became one of my best friends there but a brother.
When I heard of his passing while deployed I was devastated. Not just for the loss of my friend but for the loss of a father. I only met Jason's son once at his funeral and I only hope that one day when he is older he will want to hear stories of his father's adventures in the Army.
On this Memorial Day my mind races back to the day I honored your service, life and friendship. I miss you brother, RIP."
Sgt Nick Sullivan of Seattle, WA

"To all who knew Jason- In honor of Jason I would like to take a moment and thank each and every one of you for serving. To the family of Jason I'm sorry for your loss. I never knew him, but his memory lives in our home of the moments he shared with my Fiance SGT Michael Cymek. This time of year is especially hard for him as I am sure it is for you. If I could I would hug each and every one of you and tell you GOD and Jason are with you. I would also like to offer, when in a spontaneous moment you feel a heavy heart of emotion because something reminded you of Jason... enjoy that moment. That is Jason coming through to you remind you he may not be here, but he is with you everywhere.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL! GOD BLESS JASON DISNEY!"

"To the family of my friend in combat. I am sorry I took so long to write this. I wish to thank all of you for sharing Jason's life with me and all the soldiers that served in Bagram. It was only a few days prior when we were talking about how much he loved the mother of his child and how he looked forward to seeing Jason Jr. It seems seems like yesterday that he and I were guarding the bathrooms in K2 for accidentally walking in on someone when it was not the men's turn. What is even funnier is that my staff Sgt never found out. Jason could have told her but he did not want me to get in anymore trouble than I already was. I am sure that SSG Cardona would remember this and laugh at how crazy we were. One thing we talked about was how we would arrive home and surprise our families. I was a cook and worked down the road from the building that took my friend and I lived in the hanger shortly after. Jason was an amazing soldier and the funnest person to be around. I sure miss him a lot."
Chris Barry of Cleveland GA

"Jason i really cant put into words how much i miss you. Its been eight long years since you passed. Im all grown up now big bro ill be 21 in january. "I was deployed in the same unit as Jason Disney when the incidient took place. It still looms in my mind of the day that we heard what happened. There wasn't that many of use in our TaskForce, it really saddened all of us when we heard. I think about him often especially when I see things that are going on over there. I have never met Jason yet 8 years later I am engaged to a man whom keeps Jason's memory close. I just want to let you know he has touched so many lives, including the extended family. GOD BLESS YOU!"

"Another year has come and gone. I enjoyed reading the new comments today and it make me feel good to know that Disney is still in our minds and hearts. It does not seem like 8 years has passed. I miss my friend."
Melvin Armstrong of Bridgeport, WV

"Eight years ago, I remember skipping out of sergent time training and something told me to swing by our shop office to check out if there would be a final formation. Low and behold the hole unit was standing out front for some reason, so like a good soldier I figured I'd try to blend in so not to get in trouble. They said we we're waiting on the Batt. Comander, to talk about one thing or another, I and others thought it was about out upcoming FTX, and how once again it would be pushed back or just canceled. We got called in to the shop because the LTC would be a few min later (no suprise there). I had stepped out back with SGT Simmon to smoke and he just wasn't himself, so I asked and thats the moment things stopped moving. He told me that "we lost a soldier today" then he told me it was you, knowing he jokes around alot I had him repeat what he had said. He told me not to say anything to anyone because the LTC was going to break the news to the unit. I started running every memory I had throught my head, like the very first time I every heard you name, at FT Knox. Some Drill Sergent was yelling at some PVT Disney, and somking him like I had never seen, and you had the biggest smile on your face. Next time was the frist day at the school house for AIT, once again you were getting smoked for something smart you said, and once again you were smiling from ear to ear. Twice I had seen you and still didn't know anything about you (except you liked to get smoked). Then here we are first day at the 58th Maint Co, PFC Cymek and I are heading to the orderly room and there you are in the front leaning rest for something only you could say, and I thought, oh no this guy again... A few weeks later I got roomed with Pitchford, across the hall from you and then we hit it off. You'd come over and rumage through my closet and vice a versa. I remember the plan we had to move my girlfriend down to NC and we'd get a place off post, A so you could move Jason Jr. with you, and B so we'd have a babysitter for while we were at work. All these plans and then I went out and got married. You talked alot about Lil Jason and how much you missed and love him. Later on at my parties at my appt. that usually ended with some one getting in a fight with you. You were always there Monday morning apoligizeing for some reason. Then you got a second job so you could save some more money. You always were and always be one of my very best friends. I left that day and I'm not sure how I got home but I got there and lost it. My wife Angie wrote you a poem later that day that is still framed and is on my shelf in our living room. I sence gotten a tatoo on my side for you. I will make it to Bagram one day soon. I miss you and that silly smile with all my heart. To Jason Jr and the rest of Jason's family, I am sorry for your lose of the best son and father that he could be."
SGT Michael D Rede Jr. michael.d.rede@us.army.mil of Toledo,Ohio

"To Jason, and his family. Not a day goes by that I dont think about my friend, my hero. I am on my second tour and as I stand and salute the flag, I stand honnored and proud to have known Jason. And I thank him and all of the SOLDIERS that have given all for their country.Thank you"
SGT Michael Cymek of APO,AE 09366

"Jason,
It has been almost eight years since you left this world. It has been the hardest thing for me to deal with I still have problems excepting it. We were so close when we were stationed together at 58th Maintenance Co, there are so many good memory's that we has together. But what pains me almost eight years later is the fact that we had such a falling out before you left to go overseas and I never got the chance to say I am sorry. I AM SORRY JASON. I have not been able to get over this for eight years. I deployed to Bagram in 06 and I walked up and down the road that was named in your honor. I went in front of the base commander to have your sign fixed because it was so bad looking, and it was redone July 4th 2006. I miss you Jason and not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I can't help but cry as I write this, but I hope that where ever you are you have forgiven me as I have forgiven you. I will never forget you
Love,
Rebecca"

"I just wanted to stop by and say to Jason family, hope you all have a great ThanksGiving. I think of Jason everyday, he is a great friend, I will never forget him. My prayers are with you all"
SGT Cymek M. of Ft. Lewis Wa

"My name is Angel Machado. I was roomates with Jason while assigned to the 58th Maintenance Company, Ft. Bragg - NC. I remember the day Jason and I cleaned our rooms, we would fight like a couple and then order pizza and make up. I served with him in K2 which was the post we built in Uzbekistan. I remember how dedicated to his job Jason was, and the days he had to work in the heat, the rain, and the snow since he worked outside and did not have a shop there. Before he left K2 and went to Afghanistan, he took a picture of me with the local Afghanis. He had left his camera in his tent and ask me if I would take a picture of him with the Afghanis too. I told Jason, I would and I would save the picture for him. Well I still have this picture, as he never returned. I look as his picture I took very often, and think of the child he left behind. Jason loved and talked about his child all the time. He even got a part-time job at a pizza place to provide him with everything he needed as he was a single parent. I have this picture of Jason which is probably one of the last pictures taken of him. This picture I have saved for his son. I would love to be able to meet his son and hand him this last picture of his dad doing what he loved. When we heard the news of his loss we could not believe it and the emotion can not be explained. I miss you BROTHER and will never forget you. I THANK YOU for serving this country and for being a friend. You will always be in my heart. My thoughts and prayers go to you and your family, and I thank them for sharing you with us. I LOVE YOU BROTHER, and may you rest in peace!"
Machado, Angel, SPC, USA of Hilton Head Island, SC

"I was stationed at Bagram and left in March 2009. Of course, I traveled Disney Drive daily and, after the first drive, I saw the dedication to Jason and the history. As with everyone else, my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. And I thank him for the ultimate sacrifice. And please know that anyone who goes through Bagram knows who Disney was named after and why. God bless him!"
Cindy of Rock Island, IL

Seems weird that it has been so long and I still get the same old feelings when I start typing. I know you’d get a kick out of this so I’m gonna say it, Every time I hear the Star Spangled Banner I tear up because of you. I know you would laugh and pick at me if you saw me do it but after a second I think what you would say and smile. Your still my hero, big dog"

"To the Family, Friends and Service Members assigned to the 7th Transportation Battalion during February 2002:

Be advised, that the service members of 3-401st Army Field Support Brigade (AFSB), Bagram, Afghanistan held a moment of silence in Honor of our Fallen Comrade SPC Disney, Jason A. today (13 FEB 08). I am the Transportation Officer for the Battalion, and it was indeed an honor to know that SPC Disney was a member of the 7th Transportation Battalion. Please know that SPC Disney may be absent but he is never forgotten, especially here at Bagram Air Field (BAF), Afghanistan.

"To the family, friends, and those who served with him: I am currently stationed here in Bagram, Afghanistan and will be here through July of 2008. I've been told that I work in the building where the accident took place. In fact, I recently had a visitor who informed me he was with one of the units stationed here when the accident took place. It's been six years now since we've lost this Brother-in-Arms and on 13FEB2008 I will ask those who work in the same building to join me in a moment of silence in honor of SPC Jason Disney."
SGM Ernest Perez of Soledad, California

"To the family, friends and those who served with SPC Disney:

I am currently serving here in Bagram, Afghanistan and will be here through July 2008. I've been told that I work in the same building (Bldg 310) where this accident took place. I've been working in here for the last seven months, and although I didn't know him, I often think about him. A couple of months back I had a visit by another Sergeant Major who was a member of one of the units stationed here at the time of the accident. He came up to my office, which overlooks the area where the accident took place, and I allowed him some quiet time while he looked over that area. It's been six years since the loss of this brother-in-arms and I will ask the others who work here to join me in a moment of silence in honor of SPC Disney this coming 13th of February 2008."
SGM Ernest Perez of Soledad, California USA

Its been almost 6 years now..I am proud of what he believed in..I am proud to say that someone I know fought for me and my family over there. Your family will always be in my prayers. I never got to see his son. But i bet he was a very good dad, because he was a very good friend. God Bless all of his family and friends."

"To the family of Jason A. Disney, I lived directly across the hall from him at 58th Maintenance Co. He used to visit and play video games with me and other friends from time to time. I was already stationed in Hawaii and was on a deployment to Bosnia when I heard of the tradegy. I couldn't believe it from the email that was sent to me by Michael Cymek and others. But once I saw his picture on the back of the Army Times newspaper, my heart sunk, and it took me a few days to come to the realization. Jason was a true soldier and always thought of others before himself, He was a born leader. Jason Jr., always be proud of your father and honor him everyday. To the rest of the family, I'm very sorry for the loss of your son and brother. Jason, I know you are in Heaven and looking into your family from time to time. My prayers are with you all."

"Its been 4 years and I still think about Jason at least once a day. I'm glad to see that alot of people got to see what a great guy he was. My family & I talk about him often. The days going muddin at the lake, the street dance on the 4th of july, the trip to Nags Head to show him the Atlantic Ocean, The Kid Rock Concert. We talked about so many things in boot camp and it was just so great to do what we said we were gonna do. I just thank God that he was stationed in NC and I got to spend time with him. I only wish I got to say good-bye one last time.
To his son if you ever read this, your dad was a great guy who loved you very much. He always talked about you and how great a kid you were. He wanted me to meet you and God willing I will one day. Your dad is a hero, a standup guy, and great friend. I know you will make him proud. God Bless"

"I was in Basic Training with Spc. Jason Disney @ Alpha Co. 1/46 INF Ft. knox Ky. I never saw him again till one day years later I saw his picture on-line. I got a stillness inside when I saw it. The one thing that always sticks in my mind when I think of Jason is this: Our first day at Ft. Knox, he was such a kind and friendly person, We introduced ourselves in the barracks in between formations , we all were talking about why we joined. Everybody else said they joined for college money or adventure, or the big bonus they had gotten, I joined to make a career out of it....but Disney simply said "The put food in my mouth, a roof over my head, I'm taken care of in here man." It was profound to me to hear those words. I thought "WOW, now that's a reason" all I can say is He is the definition of the word Soldier."

"Jason was a good friend of mine from Fallon. We used to work at Wal-Mart together for a long time and he became one of the few people that I looked forward to seeing at work. I was already in the process of joining the United States Air Force when I learned of his death. I remember attending his funeral in Fallon about 10 days before i was to ship off to basic training myself. I was wondering if this was the right choice for me since my friend had just died and i wasn't sure if I wanted the military life for myself. However, I decided that I would probably not end up in Afghanistan myself and that if I did, I would fight with an extra amount of ferocity in Jason's honor. Well, I've been to Afghanistan twice in almost as many years. I am in Afghanistan as i type this actually. The main road in and out of base here bears Jason's name. Although I haven't had to fight, I don not forget the sacrifice he made. I miss you Jason!"

"Too often people don't give the respect to those young soldiers who loose their lives in situations other than active combat.

Jason was working hard at a war paced field when he gave his life for his country. It has valor, it has nobility. Because of soldiers like him, we live safer, we live free. Thank you so very much."
