"I think it was back in 2004 2005 maybe even if it was between 2003 to 2005 I was lucky enough to being a Yahoo chat and me and Chris started talking and we wound up talking every night and every time you got at least almost every night and every time you got a chance we video chat whenever our equipment wasn't messed up this went on for over a year he was going to have a 5-day leave soon and we were talking about getting together and getting married and him taking and we going with him to meet his parents and I hopes and our dreams and how he was the only child but he grew up in a small town or something like that I've been looking for him for years God only knows you for years but the only thing I had was just Yahoo chat ID and the fact that I knew he was in the military we were planning on getting married and I might have been Young I wasn't too young to know that I still feel that love my heart and in my heart I wanted to be right beside him like I promised when I told him I'd marry him so my deepest sympathies to his mother and his father may God be with you always angels dance on your pillow and keep you safe as you lay at night and God bless you ❤️."

"Uncle Chris,
I know that I never got to meet you but my dad has always described you as the most kind, strong person he has ever known. One day I asked him about his T necklace and he began to tell me about how it was the last thing you had given him before your passing. He hasn't taken it off since then. I want you to know that you will never be forgotten and that your name will always be with us. The pain my father went through was unbearable and he has always missed you and brought you up in conversations. I wish I could have met you, my dad has told me that you were his best friend and had never met anybody like you, he said that I would have loved you and that you would have been the absolute best uncle ever. My dad and my nanna and pappa (Your mother and father) and uncle Dave all miss you more than anything in the world. I hope you're doing well.
Your niece,
Makayla"

"BIG T,

Thinking about you tonight. Rough times here and I can't help but think about you. Was just talking about you and the events on and after the day you passed. On Feb 16th 2004, I was getting a tattoo of the Bald Eagle holding an American Flag in the background. Up front is the Fallen Soldiers Memorial with "All gave some, some gave all" written around it. I found out about your passing about a week later. In April of 2009, I was wearing one of the metal memorial bracelets I had bought several years prior, and wore every day after I received it. I went to MOB station in February, and that particular day in April I was waiting on for my flight to Afghanistan. I never had so much as a crease in that bracelet, and I was stressing out really bad about being the acting 1SG. Right before we were moved to the flight line, the bracelet snapped in half and all of my stress was gone. I always took it as a sign that you were there with me and had my back and I have never gotten another one. Any way, miss you and love you brother. Wish you were here. I never had the pleasure to meet your family, but I hope your family knows that you will never be forgotten."

"BIG "T"

I was just looking through a bunch of my pictures from when we were in Honduras and Belize. I ran across a few of them with you in them and couldnt help remember what a blast we had down there. Man those were some good times. I never really saw you or got to talk to you too much after I left the Engineers and went to teach at the NCO Academy. Really wish things would have been different. Its crazy the things we take for granted sometimes. I talked to Jackson and Lucas a while back. They are both heading to Iraq, well should be there now. They went with the same unit. I believe it is the 2228th MPs out of Beauregard. Just wanted to tell you that we all miss you and you will never be fogotten. Happy Late Birthday!! Love you Brother......."
SSG Christopher Phillips of Alexandria, Louisiana

"Hey T, Joe and Mark here. We are thinking of you today as always and want you to know that we are about to have our first 1165th reunion. We know you will be there in spirit. We are praying for a time of peace and healing amongst the guys. We know you would lead the way if you were still here. You always encouraged us to get along and had little patience for self pity or bickering. "You sure know how to get along with folks". We think of you saying those words often. We pray that God will grant us help in finding peace. I know the way you lived was an example to us all to get along and to accept people and situations as they are for what they are. We know you wouldn't want us to blame people for your death. You were not that way. You seemed to have a deep faith and hope for an after life. We believe you are at peace now and we cherish our time together with you. Help us to let go of the negative feelings toward the people we tend to blame. We all had tough jobs including our command. Help us to allow peace and healing during this reunion. Since your there, ask God to help us realize that everyone just did the best they could with what they had."

"09/29/06
Chris,
Since your passing I have thought a lot about you and how terrible it is that you, the boys and I grew apart as we grew up and our families relocated. Out of all my cousins, you boys were the ones I was closest to, always getting in trouble for playing on grandpa’s pool table. The last time I say you alive was Thanksgiving 2002. You were asleep in granny Betty’s sewing room with your back to the door. I regret not getting a chance to speak with you and get to know the man that you had become. I’ve decided to celebrate my 30th birthday by getting a tattoo in honor of you, and the other family and friends that have served to keep me safe. I may not have been able to get to know the man, but I still remember the boy and cry for the innocence that was lost."
Teresa S. Johnson (Glisson) of Wesley Chapel, FL.

"I too served with Chris in Iraq, he is a true hero and was an inspiration to all who knew him, and even some who didn't. I think about what happened every day, how everything looked, and what a great soldier and person was lost that day. I also wear a bracelet that I have had on since ths happened and I will keep it on. I didn't know Chris very well,I had only worked with him a couple of times, but I am thankful to have met him and been able to serve with him overseas."

Chris,
Wow! It's been a while. I miss you so much! I felt your presence with me a lot lately, so I wanted to let you know you have been on my mind. Must mean you are always on my mind and in my heart and never far away. I carry pictures of you with me at all times. I take them out from time to time and smile. I am so thankful for the time I had with you. I miss talking to you, I miss our instant message chats, I miss your letters and I miss sending you packages every week. No matter how much time passes and where I am in my life, you will always be a part of me and what I have become. I will take you with me every step of the way! I loved you and still love you with all my heart. You are still very much alive in spirit around me and in my heart! I miss you, Chris and will love you forever."

"I just happened to be there, at the cemetary. My best friend of 25 years lost her only child Courtney at 17yrs of age due to a car crash. I had knew her my whole life. She was my other daughter. The United States flags just a few feet away from Courtney's resting place drew my attention. Being from a Military family, I did not know there was a Soldier so honored, so respected and so brave so close, from our country town. I can't explain the impact on me emotionally to see up close and personal the reality. I was overwhelmed at the way this Family has honored their Soldier, their son, their brother....just being there and reading his letters engraved at his tomb---I stood and I cried and my heart broke missing this man that I've never known. But I knew what he did for my country and for me and for all, he gave the final sacrifice--his life.
Just maybe his bravery has carried on to protect my other daughter in a life we have not yet known.
I do not know this Family...but I am very proud of your Son.
And I visit him when I visit Courtney--
He will always be remembered."

"In Loving Memory...It’s been a year
At the rising of the sun and at its going down, We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter, We remember them.
At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring, We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer, We remember them.
At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn, We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
Rest in Peace my dear soldier, Chris!!! I will NEVER FORGET!"

Chris,
My mom, Laura and I went to your gravesite on Wednesday February 16th, 2005, and what a beautiful day. I was so happy to see so many people who made the trip. There is a comfort knowing you touched the lives of so many. There were so many people there, with so many nice things to say. Over hearing the stories, the guys laugh, reminiscing and looking at pictures; I was quite touched by it all, and the love the guys have for you. I feel so very lucky and honored to have had you in my life. I will carry the memories of you with me for the rest of my life. You will always have that special place in my heart. I could not have given my heart to a more deserving man. I love you and miss you more everyday. Until we meet again…..

"To the family and friends of Christopher Taylor,
I am a soldier who was severely injured defending this great nation against the savages who would do it harm. I was hit in the chest with an RPG. My left arm was amputated, both lungs collapsed, I lost 6 of 10 pints of my blood...By God's grace I was spared. If I would not have made it I would have wanted my family to know that I loved them and I WILL SEE THEM AGAIN...I WILL SEE THEM AGAIN. There is no greater honor then to give yourself defending your home and with that I embrace Chris as a brother. Never stop reminding people that "Freedom is not free." I hope people will one day understand how much we love this country. I KNOW...YOU WILL SEE CHRIS AGAIN."

"I am a 14 year old girl and my dad is also in the 1165th. His name is Sgt. Franklin D. Barnes and he worked with Chris. The past month I met Ashley Bacy who was Chris's neighbor. My dad sent me pictures over the internet of Chris's hummer and his memorial service. Chris right along with all the soldiers of the 1165th fought bravely and wanted more than anything to return home to the people who cared about him most. But sadly in this line of duty some soldiers fall but I know that Chris is waiting for all of us in heaven, where his heart is at peace. My deepest sympathy to his friends and family I know if I lost my dad I would not be able to live. Please pray for my father and all the soldiers of the 1165th for a safe and soon to be return."

"Chris Taylor was an amazing man. I only had a short time with him, just the last couple of years, but I loved that man with all of my heart. He was an incredible man, with such kind heart. My life is forever changed, not just by the tragic events that have taken place, but just by knowing him. He taught me a lot about love and about life. He understood that freedom wasnˇ¦t free. He was always very patriotic and so proud to be doing what he was doing, which was serving his country. He rarely complained and remained quite positive even under those conditions. He made the most of everything and always looked to the brighter side of life. I learned a lot about sacrifice through him. He was so willing to sacrifice time away from his family, which meant everything to him, in order to better someone elseˇ¦s life. He felt quite honored to do so and wouldnˇ¦t have had it any other way. He was such a giving person and he gave right to the end. He made the ultimate sacrifice for something he truly believed in. He truly believed and told me many times while he was gone, that it was for the greater good of our country and for the people of Iraq that he was over there.

I feel honored and lucky to have known him the way I did, and to have had him in my life, even if forever was cut a little short. :) I will forever be proud of him and what he did. He was proud to wear the uniform of the United States Army, and I will remain forever proud for him.

I will miss you, Chris and will love you always and forever!"

"We are so very sorry for your loss. Our niece, Laura was a friend of Becky's and came for the funeral...she told us that her life was changed forever...we understand as we are both military and have also buried many friends, none any easier than the last. All of your lives have been changed forever...we also mourn the loss of your son, but thank you for his selfless service and know that he did not die in vain...no man gives more than to lay down his life for his fellow man and his country (these may sound like very hollow words to you right now as your grief is greater than any family sould ever have to suffer. We lost many friends on 9-11...God Bless you, his family, friends and loved ones...sincerely Command Sergeant Major William and Sandee Austin"
