10 years, where has the time gone, it's spent with memories of your life, sharing stories with your children, watching them grow, laughing and crying with them, sending messages to you when I see a rainbow, missing your smile and your hugs, just missing the man that was you, today when I think my heart will break, I will remember and be thankful for the time I got to spend loving and laughing with you.
I love you lots and lots, you will be forever in my heart"

"Skip and I went to your grave last month during a road trip of New England. We promised Jessamyn we would do it for her. What a beautiful spot. I smiled when I saw the hockey carving and the trophy. Jessamyn was the only girl on a roller hockey team when she was in middle school. She was only 19 that day in Iraq when you died. Thank you for protecting her. She got us a bracelet with yours and Alan's name on it with the bible verse "No Greater Love.." I wear it every day. She also had the date and those words tattooed on her inner wrists. I never wanted any of my girls to get tatoos, but when I saw that, I embraced her. Your family knows you are a hero. You are our hero also.
God bless and protect your family.

"I can't even begin to explain how it feels to lose two of your "new" family members all in one chaotic day. I didn't get much of a chance to get to know Kevin or Al, but they were my family while my family was safe at home. I feel very blessed to get the chance to have a few games of football with Kevin. I can remember sitting around playing a few games of pitch and talking about the family life. He loved his family so much...everytime i turned around, he'd show me a picture or i'd hear him talking about his beautiful wife and kids. It was great to sit down and have a chew with "Beaner" and listen to him and his crazy sense of humor telling redneck jokes i'd never heard before. Not to mention that crazy looking smile he had just like the cheshire cat on Alice in wonderland...priceless! There is so much I could say about them. In my mind they will always be part of my family inside my heart. I will never forget what they've done for thier fellow soldiers or the families that they never got to see again. They meant so much to so many people. I am honored to get the chance to go to battle with them...They'll always be my heroes."
Isaac Marsh of Lyndonville, VT/USA

"Kevin would have modestly said he was just doing his job. He is so deeply missed. Time marches on...its wonderful to know that you still remember and honor him. Thank you. 11/17/06"

"I was there the day SGT Sheehan was killed. SGT Sheehan was attached to my company, the 118th Military Police Company (Airborne), I had the honor and privledge of meeting SGT Sheehan and SPC Bean and the rest of the group about 3 weeks earlier, I remember how nervous they were to be at our FOB and how ready they were to tackle the new challenge. I worked hand and hand with SGT Sheehan and his crew in aiding them with their tasks in interrogating captured insurgents at the infamous "Airborne Inn". That fateful day in May, May 25th, 2004, has and will always haunt me, I will never forget the screams from the sky that fell and the seemingly endless sounds of surrounding explosions. SGT Sheehan and SPC Bean made it to cover, along with the rest of their guys, The mortar round that took them from us landed at the opening of the bunker. When the dust had settled SGT Sheehan and SPC Bean had inadvertantly saved all 20 personnel in the bunker by absorbing the majority of the blast. SGT Sheehan and SPC Bean are heroes, not the type that you read about in science fiction, but the type that you teach your children to follow. God be with you and your families."
SGT Eric Griesenauer of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii/ USA

"Well I had to say goodbye to yet another friend killed in the war; Lance Cpl. Kurt Dechen, a life long friend is now gone FOREVER because of this stupid thing we call WAR! It was really hard; it braught back everything from when I found out you were killed. I miss you everyday and just wish I could call you and hear your voice, and have you tell me that everything is going to be ok. Until we meet again. I love you Uncle Kevin. You are my American Hero!!"

"Mr. Engle, May your daughter always have Kevin looking over her shoulder. Thank you for the wonderful words to honor him. He is so deeply missed, you have no idea. Sending only Happy Thoughts. 7-18-06"
Kathi (Kevin's sister) of Springfield, Vermont

"Sgt. Sheehan gave his life to save my daughter. No man can aspire to a nobler purpose. All that she will ever be, she owes to him. I will never look at her again without seeing him standing guard behind her. Had their roles been reversed that day in May, I would fill the vacuum created by her loss with the pride that she had joined God while fulfilling the highest duty to which a person can aspire; to lay down her life that others may live. That day may yet come, and if it does, I pray that I will honor her as so many have honored Sgt. Kevin Sheehan. God bless and be with you, soldier, and with your family. What I owe you is beyond evaluation."
Skip Engle, father of Sgt. Jessamyn Sobecki-Engle of Cloverdale, Ca

We wanted to let you know that we were thinking of you last Wednesday and our hearts are with you all, on this anniversary of Kevin's death. Not a day goes by that we don't think of you all and wish you peace and love. Just know that there are lots of Americans thinking of you always, and Kevin will NOT be forgotten. You will always be a part of our family now and we will be there for you anytime. The good that comes from your loss, which I realize is hard to see at times, if any, is that you have a whole new "family" of wonderful people who truly care about you, and we are one of those families. Please take care and we look forward to seeing you again soon."

Your cousin, Kendra of Cheektowaga, NY

"Dear Heather, We are thinking of you this day, as the boys who shared in Kevin's life in Iraq, return back to the US. I know full well how difficult it will be, yet hopefully, another rememberance of the sacrifice he made for all of us. We share in the anticipation of their return without Kevin, Bill, Alan and Jamie, but believe that he has been with all those returning today, in spirit and watching over them for a safe return to their families. Kevin has been with us each and every day and will continue to be always, as we approach the homecoming of his fellow soldiers in the next few days. We will be there for you as so many people have been all along. It will be bittersweet yet another reminder of how much they gave for their country. We look forward to seeing you there, at the homecoming, as well as the children. You are part of a very special unit, their families and soldiers. Don't ever forget that we are all here for you and the kids.
Love, Steve, Marion, Sarah, Vicki, Hailey Jeff, and little Taylor."

Nathaniel, you are a wonderful young man & I know you will grow up to make your daddy (our hero) very proud. Thank you for your beautiful smile. Thank you for acting as my shield during the water fight we had earlier in the day on 25 May. Thank you for everything. Thank you for the sacrfices you made in serving your country.

Thank you God, for the time I was able to share with this great man. Please look over his family Lord. Please bless them and protect them Lord. Thank you for Kevin Sheehan Lord, thank you for bringing him into my life. Please help us to strive to be more like him every day we spend on this earth Lord. Amen.

Thank you SSG Kevin Sheehan, for everything you were and everything you gave. I think of you every single day. I miss you so incredibly much. I've wished a million times that I could take that day back, that I could enjoy another day with you and SGT Alan Bean. I've also wished a million times that you both could've returned home safely to your families at the end of your tours in Iraq.

"I am the wife of Dennis Sheehan, Kevin's cousin.
We were priviledged to have known Kevin. His smile was infectious. His laughter was contagious.
If you looked at him, his smile was so broad that you would smile right back at him. When you heard him laugh, you laughed with him.
He loved his wife, Heather, and he adored his children.
He loved everyone in his family and they loved him in return.
The world will be a sadder place without men of the caliber of Kevin.
The Sheehan family sincerely hopes that you as a Nation will pray for peace and appreciate the sacrifice Kevin and the other fallen soldiers made to ensure your safety.
He was loved by many and will be missed by his family and friends more than any of you reading this will ever know.
If you read this and have lost a loved one, please accept my sincere sympathy.
We really need to find a way to find peace on earth."
