"I didn’t know of Michael’s passing till I became a “friend” of Michael’s Dad, Al on Facebook. I knew Al from high school but lost touch when I moved away from Greenville. Words can’t express the sorrow we all feel when a soldier defending our country gave his life up for our freedoms. May God bless Michael’s family and give them peace, comfort & strength in the days, months & years ahead! “Blessed be the Lord, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle” -Psalm 144:1 ESV"
Becky McHugh of Newnan, GA USA

You are never forgotten brother. The days we boxed in 29 Palms is something I will never forget. To the Marzano family I am so sorry for your loss but please know Mike is and never will be forgotten."
Ryan of Cleveland OH

May we honor the lives of those who have fought for our freedom with the way we choose to live our own, I was chosen because of a very close friend who served with the 48 Marines and Corpsmen who sacrificed it all; to read each story, to get to know a small piece of their lives through families and friends. I chose to honor each of them with a bible verse:

Michael A. Marzano 5/7/05
"Jesus replied, "No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." - Luke 9:62 (Dedication)"

"To the Family and Friends of Sgt. Michael Marzano,

This past weekend I had the honor and privilege of running in Michael's memory, his name proudly displayed on my shirt, as myself and fellow Marines of 3/25 made our way from Albany to New Windsor on foot. He lives on with the other 47 Marines and Sailors we lost in 2005, and we will continue to ensure that the story of his life and sacrifice will not go untold."

"Today is a great day Mike! Today it was announced that justice has finally been served. The justice that you among many of your fellow soldiers died seeking... Osama is dead! May your family find some peace knowing that you have not died in vein. We all miss you and are thinking of you in this great day in history!"

"Hey hun, I still think of you and wish you didn't go, but I understand why you did. No matter how much time passes, you will always be on my mind and in my heart. I miss u! XO"
Amber of Tempe/Phoenix, AZ

"Hey brother - it's been quite some time since we've talked. Somehow I found something with your mom saying she was worried that you never want your child to be forgotten. Trust me, there are guys who are currently in every part of the world thinking about you. Your mom shouldn't worry, you of all S.O.B.'s who ever served in Uncle Sams Misguided Children won't be forgotten. Just do me a favor since I'm out now - watch over Jeff and .50 Kal - they've been in Afghanistan for a while, and although Jeff continually says "it's nothing" I still worry. Just do me a favor and take care of them the way that I know you would have if you were still here - which you are still here in each of us that knew you. Thanks man."
"Napoleon." of NY, NY.

"It was my honor to have brought Michael into the family of the Corps.... It still hurts to know that he is gone. Prior to Mike's funeral, I had to make a call to Al, and express my grief, as well as offer my condolences. That really hurt. Two former Marines lamenting the passing of a brother, a son, a friend. Then Al introduced me to Mom (Margie)... Thought that I was in for what every Marine Recruiter dreads... Mom saying that I took her boy away... But it wasn't at all... She was thankful that I helped Michael achieve his goal of being a Marine.... Damn, I am tearing up as I type this. I miss all my boys, but only 1 that I don't hear from. You were a fighter from day 1 that I met you Mike, I miss you old friend."
GySgt R.J. Isler USMC (Ret.) of Greensburg, Pa

"I had the privilege of serving with he Sgt. Marzano here in Phoenix; he was my squad leader in 1st platoon. I'll never forget trips to the rifle range and the boxing rings he'd immediately set up after we were done shooting. He was always having a good time and making sure his Marines were squared away. I am an elementary school teacher and I keep lots of USMC memorabilia in my classroom so my students see it. Right next to my my Marine Corps flag I keep his picture and memorial card. Semper Fi Mike...you are truly missed."
Cpl D. Salch of Phx, AZ

I can't believe that it has been 5 years since you were lost to all who love you so deeply. I know your Mom and what a strong woman she is. I know that you would so very proud of her and what she has done in your name, just as she is so very proud of you for what you stood for. Your strength and courage will never be forgotten. You are a true American HERO.
God Bless you"

"I noticed some names on here that my husband had mentioned from 1/6 wpns company before we were together. He is now an instructor at SOI/MCT. Jason has some pictures of him and Marzano goofying off. Just reading the comments below has me really choked up and I will be telling him about this page so he can leave his own personal message~ Jaime Thompson ~ USMC Wife"
Jaime Thompson of USMC Bases, NC

"To Michael Marzano and all other fallen soldiers: as a Marine Brat of 22 yrs and a Marine Wife of 5 yrs to SSgt. Jason Thompson who used to be attatched to 1/6 and 2/2 and who knew Marzano I want to thank you all for your selfless act of courage. It's for Marines like you all that I thank everyday and I keep in my prayers. If it wasn't for you guys people wouldn't have the freedom that they do. Unfortunatly alot of society doesn't think that way and that angers me more than anything. One special thing is that my husbands birthday is on memorial day and mine is two days later so you know you have two grateful Americans that celebrate this holiday in honor of people like you. As proud Americans we already have the flags around our house being flown bc we celebrate the whole month for our courageous fallen service members! I want to also thank the families of these fallen Marines. Even though I personally never knew them I'm grateful for their bravery and personal sacrafice so we can all have a better life. As I write this I do have teary eyes bc I can't begin to imagine the feeling of losing a loved one at war. Thank You Again ~ Jaime Thompson ~ Proud USMC Wife"

"To MIke and his family,
Oh Mike I think of you and Angel often. Every time I go out I think you are going to come around the corner and surprise me like always. I think of you all the time. I sent you so many text messages before you left. I hated that you wanted to go. I didn't want you to go. I fell apart the day I saw you on the news. I still can't believe that it's true. Why you? You should be here now making me laugh. Calling from the bar in Tempe asking me to come get you cause you had to much to drink. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I would love to hear from anyone that cared for Mike like I did. love and miss you.

"We all love and remember you Mike. Your legacy remains an everlasting fiber in the eternal lore of the United States Marine Corps and you are resting with a blessed company of young men who are awaiting that call to "fall in" and walk amongst us when we are together again someday. Your smile, laugh, and horrible boxing bulldog tattoos are memories emblazoned in my mind. There is no negative. I know you'd be glad to know theres only one way I remember you, a big burly dude with a hear t of gold and a smile that strangely caused others to smile when they may not even be in the mood to enjoy anything of the sort. That is you, Mike. That how you are. You'll never be "gone" and you'll never be past-tense. You are with me everyday now, which would have saved me a plane ticket to Arizona to hang out when we got back. Haha Love you brother"
Corporal Jake Arnett 2nd Plt. Lima Company 3/25 (formerly Weapons Company MAP 7) of Cleveland, OH

I wanted to say thank you for taking that job at ramada with me. I really miss those times. life seemed so simple then. I thank God every chance i get for the day you showed up at baseball when you got back from Az. I know its hard with you not being around for everyone that has known you. What can i say you have the Marzano gift of gab. It's definetly comforting to know your in good hands and that we have you to watch over us. I love you Mike.

"To the familiy and freinds of Michael,
If you ever need us we are right here in Uniontown OH. Our hearts and prayers are with you. Our son, Dustin Derga was also with the 3/25 stationed in Iraq. He was killed May 8, 2005. We know that, along with so many other Marines, Michael must have been gaurding the Gates of Heaven and perhaps was there to greet Dustin. And now they both do so, along with so many other fine men from 3/25. They will always be missed here but never forgotten. And our faith tells us that we will one day be reunited for Eternity.
Semper Fi and God Bless you,

It has been 1 year, 4 months tomorrow. It seems like yesterday when I last talked to you. I still have a message you left me calling from Iraq which I will never erase. I still have your cell phone with your greeting that I will keep. I keep calling and telling you to call me back. I know you had to go, I know you felt it right, but the loss your dad, brother, and I share is so intense. Going on is so hard. I need your help and your big body wrapped around me to carry me through. 1 year 4 months, a lifetime but a moment in time. I miss you, Sport. I love you. How did this happen?

"To the family and friends of Sgt. Michael Marzano:
I am saddened by the loss of your loved one. He will always be remembered as a hero for fighting for freedom. I hope that this website will be a source of comfort and encouragement for you during this difficult time, and in the future as you recall the memories of Michael, who continues to live on in your heart."
