"I thought of you today,
but that is nothing new.

I thought about you yesterday
and days before that too.

I think of you in silence,
I often speak your name.

All I have are memories and
your picture in a frame.

Your memory is a keepsake
from which I'll never part.

God has you in His arms,
I have you in my heart."

"My condolences to the family of SGT Trinidad Martinez. On this day 13 December 2009, I thought about him. I was in the same unit when he passed. He was a beautiful person inside and out. I remember telling him, I wish I had your smooth skin. We used to play around with him, and asked him how he kept his skin so fresh looking while we were in Iraq? He used to smile and say he used bath and body works products! I miss him very much… And again I am sorry for your loss. I am proud that I had an opportunity to know him, and serve in war with him. God bless…"

"I never want to forget the sacrifices of so many young men and women. I am so proud it makes me cry. I understand in theory only that war is a part of human nature but so is love and caring. I wish I could take the families pain away but I can't. I am committed to loving ALL people, myself and our environment. I am committed to working on my happiness everyday because so many have died for my freedom to live my life. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. All my love and respect. ogersteiner@yahoo.com

"To the Martinez family, He was one of the first people I met when I got to Germany. I walked into my room and there he sat waiting for my roommate who at the time I still had yet to meet. I knew from that point on that I was going to see a lot of SGT Martinez and that I would grow to call him Friend. Not a day goes by that I don't think about that horrible day when SGT Martinez and myself were tasked out to take Soldiers to Camp Anaconda. I blame myself although I know there was nothing I could do to stop that truck from rolling over. I am extremely sorry from the deepest parts of my soul for your loss. Please know that everyday there is a little prayer being said for you and for your beloved son. He was a great man, and I say man because when fighting a war I saw him grow up before my eyes. From the playful, fun loving boy in Germany to the responsible and dedicated yet still fun loving man that we all grew to know so well. I am honored that I had a chance to serve with him."
SGT Amanda K. Hartley of Haskins, Ohio USA

"Sergeant Martinez-Luis, goodbye soldier and thank you. You are my hero."
Bill of Houston, Texas

"Martinez, when I found out what happened, I didn't want to believe it was true. I told myself it wasn't you and it was someone else. Later, I pulled myself together and researched a little for the truth. Man it hurts so bad. I just talked to you and your friend at the west gate the week before. You took genuine interest and a conversation quickly turned into over an hour. You had such a sparkling personality and I thank God for the last time I spoke to you because I realized God really does take the best ones. Thank you Sgt Martinez for all you have taught us. I remember seeing you one time when I didn't know you to well and thinking "wow he looks like such an all-around squared away soldier." Later after gettting to know you I realized what a good person you were and what a hero you will always be. Martinez, you are always close in my heart and I know you are watching out for all of us up above just as you were downrange. Thank you so much Trinidad for all you've taught us. To the Martinez Family: You are in our thoughts and prayers everyday."
Angelina Wiger of Vilseck GE

We all will miss you Ro. I served in Iraq with sgt Martinez we were assigned to the same company and worked in the same section. His death was a lot for everyone who knew him to take. He was always positive and we always enjoyed his company. I will miss you."
