"To a great friend, soldier, and weight lifting partner. Me and Jones were stationed together in Bamberg, Germany and deployed to Bosnia. We had such great times. We were young E-5 SGT then. My condolences go out to Jones and his family. I have many photos of me and our section from Bosnia. When I saw Jones on the fallen list, it was like a Mack Truck hitting me. My family were huge fans of Jones, and I'm retired now reside here in Fort Bragg, but I will always take a special moment too grieve for my good friend Raymond Jones."

He busted my balls right off the bat and then turned into one of the greatest friends ever. We had a few days before the rest of the unit came back and we started off our adventure in Germany together. He was and still is a great person and he is missed dearly. My heart goes out to his family and all the others who miss him."

I worked with SFC Jones when he was assigned to the ADC(M) office in Bamberg. He was a great NCO and helped to get me started in getting the entire command group working together in getting ready for field exercises. He was a great man, and I know that he loved his family. I hope that all is well, and you continue to know how great he was."

"Its been seven years to this day. I awoke today relizing that I no longer have the hope of meeting the man that made it possible for me to live and be free. When they "Freedom isn't free" they weren't lying. I'm now a freshman in highschool, almost a sophmore, and im an honors student i play basketball (still) and i run track. My Mom says you'd be so proud of me, I just want people to know that I AM YOUR DAUGHTER! I am honored to be YOUR daughter! I'm making the best of the life you allowed, I'm working my way through school, and I plan to go to UF!! Thank You! for allowing me to live free and do the things I love to do, I know it wouldnt be possible without the ultimate sacrafice! I love you Daddy Raymond!"

"To the Family of SSG Raymond Jones,

I just found this site, but have known about Ray's Bravery since we met in Schweinfurt, Germany in 1995. I visited Ray, in Arlington, in May 2006.
I still remember the times we went bowling, went out on the town and just hung out on Ledward Barracks.

I met him when I was only new to the Army and he was just about to make Sgt.
He always was there to give advice about the Army or just life in general.

Ray was an amazing man and will never be forgotten!"

"SFC Jones,

We did have an excellent time as part of boogie woogie. We met in 95 and still remember you trying to make me find the soft spots on the armor. LOL. Ray we had a great friendship, you were the big brother I never had. Thanks for understanding me as a human being. We were both Florida boys stationed in Germany, you a SPC (P) and I a young Private. You helped me develop as a human being and as a soldier. I would not be who I am today, if it were not for our friendship. God Bless you my Best Friend!
Katja, You were definitely the sunshine in Rays life. I am so glad you two met each other. True love is what you two represent. May God Bless Raymond E. Jones, Jr. and his family."
Demian Penton, aka Sanchez of Jersey City, NJ

"This is the hardest thing I have ever had to write! When we are young, we feel that we are all invinsible... as the loss of Raymond has so painfully reminded us, we are NOT!
I was BLESSED with the greatest gift Raymond left to this free world... SASHA!!!!
Sasha RAElyn Lydia... The name flowed from your lips as if you had been dreaming of it all your life! We were barely adults ourselves, but we wanted to bring this tiny life into this world... Somehow, we both thought it would make everything easier, better. Of course, her arrival only confused an already upset situation, BUT still seemed to make some things so much clearer.
You and I had so many differences, but the one thing we got right was this perfect little girl!!! She looks the "spitting image" of YOU! Your legacy lives on! I see the REASON you were willing to lay down your life....SASHA!!! Noone else has had the decency to even MENTION your daughter, but I know that you truely loved her... no matter what... no matter what!!!
Sasha, the love he had for you has not, and will never be denied!!!!!He gave his life so that you may be free!
In your absence, Jason and I will ensure that, as we always have, Sasha has the BEST life that we can possibly provide for her, with all the love and respect that she deserves!!! It's not easy, and I know you're up there laughing at this, but I have to look at your face EVERY single day!!!
This should remind all of us that life is short, and should be lived to the fullest! and...LOVE YOUR CHILDREN!!!!! You may never get the chance to tell them just how much they touched your heart, just how much you really did love them. Our children are the mark we leave on this world.... and Raymond, what a BEAUTIFUL mark we made!!!!!!!!
Thank you, Raymond; I think of you every moment of every day. Sasha will be left with the memory of a brave man beeing the one to have brought her into this world. Thank you; for giving her the daddy that she needed, and so well deserved. He loves her so much. This was the next gift you gave, and the one she needed the MOST!!! We will miss you; I will miss you.....TE QUIERO MI AMOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Lynn" and Sasha of Sevierville, TN

"I would like for the family of Sgt. Raymond E. Jones, Jr. to know that I am wearing a hereo bracelet with his name on it. I wear it everyday and have never taken it off since I bought it. I had the chance to read about Raymond on a website so I would know a little more about him. I am a 48 year old mother of two sons ages 26 and 23. We live in Ky. I also wore a POW braclet during the Vietnam War. I have since lost that one, but I will take better care of this one. Just wanted to let the family know that I am aware of Sgt. Jones and as long as I wear his name on my wrist. All the soliders and their families are in our prayers. May God bless."
Myrna Childress of Brodhead, KY

"Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am thousands winds that blow.

So not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

Raymond will always live in my heart and in my thoughts.
